Awesome video, just one thing: use boolean ->uniform if you want to combine objects. Doing this you can remove unneccesary polygons, and increase render performance.
Try making a cube and thren change a lot of stuff on it ( new material, another new material etc ) then look in the attribute editor. You will see a bunch of tabs. When you delete the history only the actuals remain. It works cleaner
to expand on that, it will also free up your memory allowing maya to run smoother, especially on bigger models or if you do alot of editing on a model like split polygon and insert edge loop

Hey Mike! I love your tutorials! I have a question, Im having trouble with The "CV Curve Tool". every time I attempt to Select face +Hold down shift and extrude, I can never seem to finally delete the CV Curve afterwards. When i try to delete the curve it also deletes the extruded replica as well. 11:50 - 12:02 Help please.

Iam using maya 2016 when using color management with view transfer on it all works fine in render view but when i batch render passes using legacy pass system with mia material x passes it does not show the correct image with gamma of 2.2 plz help me about this..... Victoria, you need tp select the object first and delete the history. You can then safely delete the curve

If the render in Mental Ray looks black this is a well known probl3em caused by a Maya Service Pack release. Check Autodesk.com for the solution
