This was my childhood bike when I turned 17 (I first had an 81 CR125). Had a paper route and pumped gas to save up all my $ for it. This was really the beginning of my love for restoring all things on two wheels and why today I still do it as a business. It's a beauty!
I watch Kaplans video's all the time and as much as I love seeing these beautiful bikes he displays, I absolutely love his true passion for motorcycles and the sport. If you are ever in Nashville, let me buy you and your buddies the first round. Cheers Kenny!
Absolutely awesome bike Ken ! It's much better than new with the powder coating and attention to detail. I had an 83 CR 250 with an 82 engine , it was totally tricked out with everything you can imagine , I miss that bike. We all have our regrets and selling that bike was a big regret.
Enjoying the detailed photos of the rebuild. Maybe put them on at the end of the video in full screen format, that way people can enjoy senior at full chat during the video and then enjoy the photos at the end by pausing the video to study each in detail? The content lately has been superb, thank you and hope all your team enjoy a great Kaplan Kristmas
And it's absolutely worth every penny, It's the love that makes it priceless 💪🏼✊🏽♥️ Better than factory work it's got the best finish..., And it's those little things that add up to make it more of a one & only.., 1 of 1 etc 😎👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😋
Absolutely amazing I couldn’t ride it wouldn’t want to get it dirty at all such beautiful conditions room decorations for me so stunning I was 11 in 83.. 🤣 👍🏻 ❤️
When I was 13, I remember my dad taking me to his buddies house. He had 2 race bikes leaning up against his garage. Both CR500's. He started one up and asked If I wanted to ride it. I was scared as hell!!! Even though I had a 1987 XL600, the 2 stroke CR500 was intimidating. This coming from a kid that rode a brand new harley when he was 13 as well. Those big CR's were scary... Those CR's looked like this 250, only meaner. I'd guess they were both '86 models. They had the red white and blue wing, not the gold wing like this 250 and also the gold rims. Damn, they don't make them much more beautiful than those old CR's..
1987 I got engaged and rather than have a ring my GF brought me this beast, sadly 2yrs later I sold it to finance for our 1st flat, I had alot of fun on this ol'girl. My lady knows how to keep her man happy I now have a HL500 (which has cr250 1983 forks on it) and IT465J in my shed, but this 83 model will always be in my heart. Very hard to find spares for this model too.
Do you ride it, or do you hang it your house as a museum piece? My favorite year. Honda changed the world in 83. The gold rims, while not stock, do give it a factory works look!
You know, there's a million ways that people say to bring back the color of an old plastic tank and fenders. I wish you guys would do a series showing the right way to do it. You're the only people I trust
I think the blue seats started in 85'. I had an 84' XL 250 that came with the black seat and decals. I remember in 1985 freaking out over the blue seats!
Hey Kap would you be interested in fair trade on bikes ? I have a 2008 Softail Custom. Brand new tires and brakes and is under 27k . I live in Conn and have title in hand . Comes with 3 seats 1 original 1 gunfighter seat and a 1 comfort seat from Saddleman. Has leather bags and a Memphis shade . The bike is in real good condition to boot . Trying to erase my past.
@@KaplanCycles Yes Sir I already did . I will be sending a video and pictures as well later . I was supposed to do it last night but the honey do list was heavy plus I had to retire early due to my job . Early start . So good mornin as well and right after work I be sending pic . First year for the best colour Honda ever made, flash red! Amazing bike that’s been restored probably better than what it was from the factory
That's one of my favorite CR's. They looked great back then; what a beauty.

Absolutely stunning, love to see a wicked bike from the year I was born.
Amazing. I had the 125 and a friend had the 250. Add in the 480 and what a year for Honda MX.
That was the first bike I raced!!! Blew away 88 models back in the day!! Wished I still had it. Beautiful bike!!!

Hate to say it but it needs fluids drained an put on a display . Bikes that age rarely look as good as that beaut ! A rare old gem for sure !

Wow that is super nice. I had one just like it except it was a 125, unfortunately
Best one ever made really! I'd race modern 450s any day with that bike! The balance of that bike is perfect...for me anyways!
