The String of...s are also on the nope list for me. One plant that I have never owned and will never own, because I think it is hideous, is the Pilea Peperomioides. As for the Thai Constellation, that's the kinda thing a lawsuit in court is for. But since you are in Canada, I don't know how it works there. I am in the US and I would have sued her. I have a really small Thai (paid $40), but if anything ever happened to it, I would not replace it. During the pandemic I had over 250 plants, currently I have 102. Loved your video.
I love watching all your videos because you edit them so well!! Every time you talk about a plant you have a picture pop up so that we can see what you are talking about!! I appreciate that so much!!❤❤
I’ve always wondered what the story of the Thai was and I don’t doubt you for never wanting to talk about it! What a horrible experience, I’m sorry that you had to go through that! Manifesting a Thai just sneaking into your plant room one day that will change your mind lol.
I bought a Thai for $500 NZD (around $400 CAD) back in 2020/21 and have not had a single issue with it thankfully (aside from browning in some of the sectoral variegation but that’s a me problem because I underwater everything + it was in terracotta cause I was scared it might rot). I chopped it up a month ago, kept the top cutting + base plant and haven’t had any issues with rot/rerooting. I did leave the cuttings to harden off for a number of hours and they all had aerial roots. I rooted in sphagnum and have only just potted my cutting in pon to see if it reduces the browning I’ve been getting. I still have the base plant in soil so if it doesn’t like pon I’ve got a backup! Some people who bought Thai’s from the same seller as me had major rot issues but I think some specimens are easier care than others. Before I cut it, my Thai was growing faster than my plain green Deliciosa and matured really quickly with little effort on my part. I would definitely recommend trying again with a Thai, just be careful with who you’re buying from and make sure you’re buying an established plant instead of a cutting if you want to minimise the chances of loosing the plant.
I'm with you about the Paraiso Verde, but the main reason I won't own one is because of the temperature needed to keep the variegation (this is what has been discussed by experts in the International Aroid Society group). Supposedly, it's not just the lighting but also warm temperatures that keep variegation going on this particular plant. For me, I'm not sure that I can keep it that warm in my house during the winter months (around 75F), the humidity would just be sucked right out of the air. I'm pushing it at 72F!
I purchased a Tai from Lauren and she's doing great 👍 I got her for less than a hundred dollars and she's growing like a dream. I live in the Az desert so I was worried it wasn't going to thrive w/o humidity but she's growing alongside my elbows (albos) and she's living 😊 I'm really sorry you lost your Tai 😞
Woohoo, glad your feeling better. Omg at one point I wanted to send you a chonk scraper. 😂 I just feel like being unproductive so I’m gonna be a couch potato today and get warm under my fleece blanket.

Hi, all of the symptoms that You have it's anxiety. Therapy, antidepressants and workout - longer walkies with dog will do to feel better. I know it's hard, but without it it's just fear all the time
Not a planty expert, but brought my Watermelon Peperomia back from the brink by regulularly adding Cal Mag. Some are a bit cupped, but i don't get anymore toe or split leaves 🎉
if someday you decided to give Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma another chance, try growing it in less light and let it climb something since begining. I have two of this plant, both were cuttings from the same mother plant, one in high light and one in low light, wierdly the low light one's leaves are mature and more than twice the size of the leaves of high light one. I have never had her on a moss pole. she's just climbing the wall around our TV, doing well even with low humidity and my inconsistent underwaterings and I just gave her kelp extract as fertilizer a few times. the only downside is that the internode space in the low light one is much longer but it's probably because she's growing in very very low light (she's on the wall next to a window so can't really get the light that's coming through the window)
Hope your surgery goes well and you are back on your feet soon. Make sure to rest. Of all the plants you mentioned the one I would never ever buy again is the Brandy. I laughed to myself as I would include all Hoyas for the mealies😂
I had one of those zebra plant aswell also the white version. I totally agree is a thirsty plant or the leaves just drops and perks back up once watered. I eventually got rid of them because it was attracting fungus gnats too. Did not want to deal with that too.
Brandi looks gorgeous in pictures, but that is one plant I will not mess with again. Constant tiny leaves that trail, but shrivel. I put some in a substrate called Pafcal. I will see how it does. If it does well, I will leave it there.
I got a single node Decursiva cutting ages ago. I basically abandoned the plant outside as it was such a slow grower, but it seemed to like it as it went from small, non-fenestrated leaves to larger, fenestrated leaves with no effort/regular watering on my part. Never had a single runner on the plant 😅
Aside from pest prevention, wiping down the EFN will save the foliage from getting those brown spots from the EFN? My mamei is getting brown spots where the EFN was!
About your dental surgery.... I work in a dental office if you get the nitrous (laughing gas) if you take your anxiety medication as well the gas will kick that in more & help you to relax a lot more. I work at an office that does conscious sedation & when we can't give all the other medication that goes along with it we give that to our patients. You need a driver if you do that. Good luck!

I really like the mature ones, and I discovered a plant seller near me who is selling them for real cheap, but I guess I'm gonna spare myself from sadness this time and not buy it
I had a brandi in a really high humidity greenhouse too! But it hated me so much. I’m not gonna lie though, after editing this video and having to insert photos of some really beautiful brandis I was like “….should I?? 🤔”

@@unplantparenthood Just yesterday I read a post about how they got their brandtianum so healthy and mature, they said that D-shaped poles really helped keep the humidity, and they didn't like heat either. But from what you said, I feel like you already provided everything, so I'm still really torn on getting one... They're so beautiful though!! But I shouldn't be wanting it when I already have a sodiroi that should satisfy my need for silver heart leaves
100% agree on the watermelon pep. It's beautiful but I tried 3 times and it never grew right for me. Also no dramatic plants for me unless I can keep them in standing water like colocasia and calathea. So no peace lily's polka dot plant, schismatoglottis, cissus, etc. Also no to most hoya. They don't like me so they grow lots of runners but few new leaves. Plus I'm an underwaterer so they get root rot too easily for me also. Meanwhile, alocasia and anthurium love me so those are my main sqeezes 😊
When you cut a philodendron melanocrysum, do the new leaves that grow revert back to a super small size like from the original plant? Seems like that would make it so hard for most…
Super late question, but what is in the yellow spray bottle that you're wiping down the leaves with? I checked your Amazon store fronts in both Canada and the US and didn't see anything there that matched it.
I was referred by my dentist as well to get by wisdom teeth extracted by the jaw surgeon/oral surgeon because of 90 degree angle growth and close to nerve. Overall it was a painless experience with only local anesthesia, the only thing that was off putting was the sound of the blade/saw when they need to cut away some jaw bone. After that I experienced quite some swelling for a few weeks, but pain wise it was pretty OK because of the painkillers and antibiotics. Good luck with the surgery!
@@mannyqueiruga6287 yeah, for horizontally growing wisdom teeth they need to do that and then they cut the wisdom tooth in sections, that was actually also quite loud.
I had no luck with the zebra plant either. It would put out new leaves while it lost all the bottom leaves. I couldn’t water it enough. I eventually threw it away. I’ll never own one again.
Such a bummer about the Thai, I would have returned it right away. Can you image I had the exact opposite experience with my Thai? I bought a large Thai (8 leaves with the 3 newest about 2 feet long) for a very good price 350 euro at a nursary. The seller said: don't worry, this is a very slow grower, maybe 1 leave a year... Well, let me tell you, it grew 5 leaves in 16 months time, the petioles are 3 feet plus 2 feet of leave, growing in a 90 degrees angle to the plant which makes the plant like 10 feet wide and about 6 feet high, taking up almost my entire living room. I can't chop it because the internodes are so short. Tried to sell it but nobody has that space...I would to give it to you for free but how to send a plant like this from Holland to Canada ...🤷
i feel the ugly plank, but i also like how roots attach to wood. an alternative I've liked so far is firewood pieces, but it only gives you so much height
A similar thing happened with my Sordori; it kept getting stuck. eventually, after it happening for the past 7 leaves .... I decided to yank it out as soon as I saw it. The leaf looks so bad, has holes, etc., because I forced it out. But ever since, it hasn't done it again. If a leaf is stuck and it's a fast grower, it will continue to get stuck until you yank one out aggressively, I think... Anyway, aha. It seems to happen most often to cuttings from a mature plant that are smaller because they've been taken off. That's the conclusion I've come to. I'm probably totally wrong aha
I've stayed away from a brandi bc I haven't heard anything positive about them ☹️ I've heard from several ppl that they only get tiny leaves that stay bushy
I feel you. Had to ban the silver swords from my household. Love the look but they are thrips magnets, I swear I tried so many times and they always got them -_- they infected my other plants and I won't risk that again. Also have rehomed the too compicated ones because I can't give up my soul to them.
Your spruceana reminds me of my amydrium medium. I don't know what it wants but to run. I have the original leaf that is yellowing, one dumpy leaf that came in my care, and then runners, runners, 🏃♂️ 🏃♀️ 🏃♀️ 🏃♂️ 🏃♀️ 🏃♀️
I'm curious if you have talked about bringing plants to the US from Canada? I am asking because my partner lives in the US and I might be moving there. How was that experience for you?
@@unplantparenthoodI was watching your collection part 2 and I was like she deserves to have more beautiful alocasias!! I’m glad you own it and can’t wait to see it grow!
I just came home with a new Philodendron Hederaceum. It's a bit "basic" but it's my first philodendron and I'm excited as heck. Also to answer your question - ivy gave my plant collection spidermites twice. Ivy is banned in this house. 😅
Watermelon pep can gtfo. I do have a really large Polybotrya that I grew from a small plant and it has exceeded all expectations. The only time I’ve seen deformation in the leaves was when the plant had spidermites!
I haven't spent that much on thais but let me tell you i tried to get a ~cheap~ one through cuttings /nodes 2 times which all rotted before i finally said fuck this and got an established plant.... i don't want to jinx it but so far it's doing well and i should've done it that way in the first place 😭
Anyone know if she has a soil mix tutorial? From that very chunky one as well as the soil one? I love her videos so much but I can’t remember where this is…
Hi!! I mixed some soil recently if you go to my yucca repot video :) I also mix some soil in my florida green repot video as well. Please let me know if you’re unable to find it! But you should be able to just search those keywords on my channel 🧡
I fucking hate the Alocasia Amazonica!!! It was the plant that brought the spider mites into my house that decimated half my collection and I do not regret kung fu kicking that stupid plant into the dumpster like 3 years ago! Three days ago my husband was so excited to bring me a baby plant that he picked out all by himself because it reminded him of me. He is so happy with himself. It’s a fucking Amazonica. I just stare at it while thinking of the end of Little Shop of Horrors…and divorce….
It’s crazy she mentioned karma and then you had all those issues with it. Definitely makes you think… Although I highly doubt telling a person they’ll get karma counts as a curse. 😂 Karma isn’t a punishment. It’s a reflection of your actions and energy you put out to the world and others. Sometimes it’s best to not get what we want as learned in this case. Def been there with plants I had to have and then they’re nothing but problems. Ugh 😅
I will never own a palm tree. I had a beautiful pot of them and one by one (there were 4 or 5 of in the pot) they all died. They had spider lites and I couldn’t get rid of them. I eventually put the lady plant in the garbage
I’m so sorry you got shafted on that thai monstera purchase. She sounds like such a shady A-hole. I totally would have taken her up on the late replacement offer. I would have just sold it on to get some money back. You’re a much better person than most
Seriously f the brandi for being so beautiful and bishy 😂 shes my number 1 never will own again. Tradescantia of any kind are a big no for me. Watermelon and really all caperata peperomias. I'll add parisio verde, ive never had one but also never had the desire to. I would take a gifted one to try it out for funsies but I wouldn't seek it out ever. Most strings of things, if anything ever happens to mine I won't seek more out except vsoh cause she's cute.
If you didn't get what you paid for you should have gotten a full refund. If you bought a rooted plant and got a rotten pest-infested plant, you are entitled to a refund. Especially if you're paying that much for it. That's crazy.
Several things of course: First and foremost Thai constellation lady should be shamed publicly. I know it's not your vibe but she stole a lot of money from you and I wouldn't let it slide. I know you said you don't hate her but what she did was evil and she should learn not to ever do it again. If I was in your group I'd like to know what are the people I should never buy from. So yeah. Anyway, you made me to swear (again) never to buy an expensive plant from a private seller with cash. I grow spruceana and it wants to shingle like dubia when not mature, I'm getting small leaves but no runners when grown on a wide pole with lots and lots of fertilizer. I think those more difficult monsteras just really need much more nutrients than we are used to giving them. Paraiso needs heat, tried and true. If anyone loves the look put it on a heatpad :) it will keep the variegation. Scindapsus are not vining plants and sooner or later will grow a runner if grown down. If kept climbing they are actually pretty easy imo I killed plenty of plants but I don't necessarily say I would never buy them again. The only exception are opuntias. I cannot stand those tiny little spikes getting everywhere. It triggers me to even think about it :)
thats so terrible what happened to you with the thai constellation. extremely unacceptable on that lady's part. and a shame that the experience turned you off of the plant as a whole

Wow I never had that issue with mine, that sucks
Your spruceana reminds me of my amydrium medium. I don't know what it wants but to run. I have the original leaf that is yellowing, one dumpy leaf that came in my care, and then runners, runners, 🏃♂️ 🏃♀️ 🏃♀️ 🏃♂️ 🏃♀️ 🏃♀️
I'm curious if you have talked about bringing plants to the US from Canada? I am asking because my partner lives in the US and I might be moving there. How was that experience for you?
Charmaine! I’ve been wanting to ask you if there’s a way I can send you a plant 🌱🥰 I would love for you to have one of my Alocasia dragons breath
Omg liliana you’re too kind 😭💖 I actually own a dragons breath! It’s still a little baby right now 🥹
@@unplantparenthoodI was watching your collection part 2 and I was like she deserves to have more beautiful alocasias!!
Like the Charlie a brown Christmas tree ? Is that what your monstera looked like.
Exactly like it 😂
Did you ever give Nick the plant you wanted to keep😊
Palms are the worst!! I don’t know how some people manage to keep them pest free.
Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum - I absolutely love them. But, every one I've had came with thrips and caused problems. I tried.
Same here. I’ve noticed they’re so thrip prone and the roots are so sensitive.
SO thrip prone!! I saw a really massive one at a mall in Edmonton, and even though it looked really healthy, lo and behold.. a colony of thrips 😅
Jaketheplantguy has a brandtiatum on a moss pole and his is huge. I think he keeps them out doors but he lives in california.
Now I want to try and have my mom grow one outside!
🔥🔥🔥
🤓
If you didn't get what you paid for you should have gotten a full refund. If you bought a rooted plant and got a rotten pest-infested plant, you are entitled to a refund. Especially if you're paying that much for it. That's crazy.
Your Mom is a plant whisper.
The Thai Constellation story made me cringe. OMG- the seller 🪛 this buyer so badly. Really sad.
No but I’m
Screaming leave it alone
Me too
😂😂
If kept climbing they are actually pretty easy imo
I killed plenty of plants but I don't necessarily say I would never buy them again. The only exception are opuntias. I cannot stand those tiny little spikes getting everywhere. It triggers me to even think about it :)
thats so terrible what happened to you with the thai constellation. extremely unacceptable on that lady's part. and a shame that the experience turned you off of the plant as a whole
Melanos are not allowed in my house they’re awful
This is a joke, right? 😮
Just a list with reasons thanks. If you are just going to ramble on please warn people.
Nah I’d rather you find out yourself and I get paid 💅🏻
I was looking through your recommended products. 🪴 What are you using to clean the EFN off from your plants? I am glad you are feeling better. I always appreciate your video’s. 🙌👍🙌
