I feel like since hybridizing is becoming so popular, we're going to start seeing more unknown/complex lineage that is just given a new name (ie KOS). Like i personally think that hybrids should not be given a new name unless it is a singular plant with distinct features whose propagation/circulation can be traced. I think more people should be culling/growing out entire batches of seeds and selecting the more special/unique hybrids. But that is not compatible with people who are doing this to sell in the short term.

Hey, one comment for the viewer who asked for good anthuriums for beginners that aren’t basic….I discovered many in the Calomystrium section are pretty easy to grow. This would include the King and its relation: A. esmeraldense, and A. recavum, my two new favorite ones to grow in my house. They don’t seem to mind moderate drops in temp and size up quickly. Growing plants from seedlings is my favorite way to get the more challenging plants to grow in ambient air, without a cabinet or glass around them. If you are willing to hover over their watering and other needs a bit in the beginning, they adapt to the climate of your home. You can even get the more challenging plants to grow well in ambient air from seedling size.

Talking about forever to root... I bought myself an AOS Tezula Dark top cut - no roots. It took FOUR AND 1/2 MONTHS to root. By month three, one of the leaves died and I was convinced I'd thrown my money away. It was a very happy day when I discovered roots on that thing.

I think out of the hot dark anthurium, papillilaminum is the most affordable now. You can get seedlings of different ecotype crosses, which still count as a pure species, for ~50 these days. I do prefer crosses like that to selfed seedlings, selfing usually produces a weaker plant. Although the chance of variegation gets higher ;)

I'm very grateful for this video, however can you do one too but for philodendrons? For those of us who are still philodendron girlies, we'd like to see some philodendron-centered content as well, amidst all the anthurium hype and trends that are taking center stage in the houseplant community. I hope this doesn't come off rude or ungrateful. Happy Holidays!

Anthuriums plants seems to be very popular lately in 2023. I am not into tropical and adroids unfortunately cause of there growth structure. Especially Philodendrons and Monstera’s aswell. Also for some reason Anthuriums roots scares me and gives my stomach a queasy feeling. Alot of homes if you have the space you can do an extension at the back a glass conservatory where you can sit inside with plants if you live in a nice sunny country. If winter is cold you can stall heaters inside otherwise is freezing cold without one if you want to use it all year round. 2024 i am definitely focusing on more of the plants i love in my collection as i did alot of plant purge in 2023. Also want to have more easier manageable plants in my collection. This winter i don’t know why i had alot of yellow leaves on my Hoyas. My Hoya Deykeae definitely had the biggest causality which i was sad about as i loved that one.

I love buying seedlings/germinated seeds. It feels more challenging to keep them alive and healthy than buying big plants and I like the thrill 😂😂😂

Anaerobic means without oxygen. You want to say aerobic for something that gets better air to the roots

Hi! Are you basing the statement of the nutrients staying in the leaves unless there's growth or the plant is cut on some specific scientific factor? I'd geunuinely love to know. Maybe your statement was left unexplained due to it being too self-evident to you. Love your channel, thank you for the content you give!
