Trains 21 is a documentary of railroading in the 21st century and a look at the fascinating world of transportation. On this channel we deal with all aspects of trains with a strong focus on the Northeast USA.
The goal is for you to learn a lot in a short amount of time.. A major infusion of knowledge in just a few minutes.. And if those few minutes distilled some of the best railroad information in the industry, we feel that we've done our job..
The trick is clarity.. Clear, concise and on point.. New videos are uploaded frequently and if you like what you see, comment, like and subscribe (in that order!).

A LOT of history here within this video. Thank you for building this :) Hoping some one does a D&H video with a focus from Binghamton North, was driving that area and the picture/video opportunities are awesome from the trestle to the tunnel. IF there actually was train traffic! Seems like that line is pretty sparse relative to train traffic

Nice video, and very interesting info, I used to run those Conrail SD60's, they were great pullers, they were preferred on the Allentown to Hazleton jobs over the Ashmore secondary which has a near 4 % grade through Weatherly, PA. There is some interesting railroading in Hazleton area worthy of some videos. It will show you traditional car load freight is alive and thriving!

I have shown Hazleton in past videos but will be showing it again shortly in these NEPA History videos so stay tuned. And thanks for watching.

Another great and well done video. Hopefully you can answer this question for me Aaron. I've noticed over your last few videos showing ALCOs, that they sound almost identical to the 7FDLs at low speeds or idle. Have you noticed this and do you happen to know why? Also pretty trippy music in this man! Drop in and tune out

Alco and GE are both four-cycle engines and up till around the time that GE put out the U25Bs and Cs, they were both in bed together so maybe that has something to do with it.

Are those locomotives in their original paint schemes or are they been repainted in like a heritage game type of thing?

If you mean the loco on the thumbnail. That's actually a CNJ F-unit.

EL was not freight only after the Lake Cities lost it's mail and package service and was dropped. They ran commuter service out of Cleveland and New Jersey. Which was the real money loser from low revenue tickets and high fixed costs like labor, and yards. The Lake Cities never lost money, it had a tiny profit of a million dollars which would have been two million from rate increases the year it was dropped. But if they dropped it they could let the whole mainline to Chicago be down graded and not replace the twenty year old equipment.
