Insulating my Enclosed Trailer

  • By insulating my enclosed trailer I plan to make it a 4 season adventure toy hauler. I initially bought this trailer nearly 20 years ago and have hauled just about anything you can fit inside a trailer that you might need for adventuring: four wheelers, argo, snowmobile, bikes and even my drift boat. Additionally, over the years we have camped in this trailer several times. Recently I added lights to the inside and it was a game changer for camping: it no longer felt like we were staying in a cave. Shortly after that upgrade I took it camping at the Alaskan Arctic Man winter games. My son and I stayed in it, but it was a little cold when the outside temperature dropped below 20 degrees, so I decided to upgrade it again and insulate the trailer. Come along and see how we did it.

Nice work Jr. That thing should be nice and cozy when it gets chilly. Probably quieter inside too.

Watching you do that reminded of insulating our bus. Great job, it should be a lot warmer now. Looking forward to hearing how it handles the winter cold.

Thank you, I was just watching your spring video couple days ago. I’ll be interested to see how your garden comes along this year. It’s one thing for someone to be a scholar on all of the things that should be in a garden and how they should be, but it’s another thing to see someone actually doing it. Your experience in this case will be very valuable to people, including myself.

Thank you. It makes a nice, dry, comfortable place to camp and the clean up after is simple. Good luck in your search.

I don't envy doing that job. Should work great and it's a good time to replace all of the worthless Scotch locks that were using in the wiring. Those are terrible. Great video though, look forward to seeing you take it out!

Do you think you'll get condensation between the foam board and the outside wall? It will be a lot warmer this next winter.
