Das Boot is one of the greatest war movies ever made. It's not about how many ships they sink or people they kill (watch the scene with the burning tanker and the crew are distraught that the Royal navy isn't rescuing the survivors nor can they do anything for them themselves) but it's ultimately about survival and it's a great tribute to the U-boat men.
