    Always wanted to do carving, but I’m better off working with metal for artworks. Both you,Chainsaw Jenna and others are amazing artists, bringing realism into your art.

    Old video, but another great job. I’m going to try and carve something like a bear, for my cabin (which an Airbnb) because I think they kids that show up will love it! I would like to do one of the climbing ones. But, the Great Dane turned out “great!”

      I bet the kiddos would love seeing a bear! Sometimes that small personal touch is what will keep your guests coming back year after year!

    Good morning. Just found your video and love the work you do! I just started whittling and have so much respect for it and the carvings like yours! Just beautiful! I have some questions though about a carving that was done for my parents and was wondering if there was any way you could give me advice on what to do with it if anything? Its a german shepherd that looks ok-nothing like your work though! It is very dark and don’t believe it has been stained & or treated with anything over the years. It was a gift from my Uncle to my Mom-wondering if i could do something to it to make it look better? Do you have a business and wondering where your located? Im in Rochester NY -any input would be appreciated-thank you! I am subscribed now and cant wait to watch more! Have a good day

      Good morning! Would have to see a pic to give you the best advice! If it’s really dark Linseed oil may have been used as a preservative which can turn wood very dark over time. Email me a pic and I’ll get back to you when I have time 😊 Carving restoration can be a fun challenge! tmcustomcarvings@gmail.com

    Again very nice job really specializing in the K9 s I would think that you are going to be very much in demand young lady keep up the great work and thanks for sharing. I am also a chainsaw carver and am in the process of carving a larger than life timber wolf. It's a winter project for me

      I have such a love hate with the dogs 😂 They can be so tricky to carve! My current project is a life sized white tailed buck, I have never done joinery so it’s been tricky…still trying to figure it out!
      I appreciate the kind words! Do you have a page/website that I can see your work? I love seeing other carver’s work!

      @@TayMarie23 hi TayMarie sorry I don't have a web page or even e mail I dropped that to old and not computer savvy but I got UA-cam locked down pretty well. My son loaded me up on Instagram I will be seeing him tomorrow and try to post some pictures on there if you would like to see them. Other than that I text everything but not sure if we can give out cell phone numbers . Other wise I would be very happy to share my carving photos with you

      @@TayMarie23 Hey TayMarie just another thing you mentioned joinery you might want to check out Jeff Mohr UA-cam channel North West Carver he's done lots of Joinery and his painting skills are outstanding. A very interesting man he also has a couple of vidioes on doing full sized deer . A master carver for sure

      Thank you so much, I will check out his channel tonight! I’m having a hard time getting the logs cut flat enough so they fit flush together! Not easy when your bar doesn’t go all the way through what your are cutting 😂 Once I figure that part out I was planning on drilling a 24” deep hole through the logs and then driving a 1” dowel with some glue or epoxy for extra security!
      Let me know what your Instagram username is and I will try to find you :) Or have your son find me tomorrow and we can connect there! My insta is TayMarieYT

      @@TayMarie23 just a suggestion I use Gorilla glue the original and as most of the the chain saw carvers use dampen the wood and spread the glue and clamp it it foams and expands when it dries it is very strong and holds the wood well just get enough to do the job it has a shelf life and don't let it freeze I learnt that mistake. A product of living in Canada lol

    It turned out great. But, how does the paint not peel on top of the TWP?

    • @TayMarie23
      @TayMarie23  Рік тому +1

      Great question! You just leave the oil to dry and absorb into the wood for several days to a week, then as long as you use an oil based paint you don’t have any issues! Almost all spray paints are oil based enamels and go over timber oils well as long as the wood feels dry to the touch! 😊

    How do you decide what log to actually use for each carving. ?

    • @TayMarie23
      @TayMarie23  3 місяці тому +1

      It’s mostly about log size and making sure the carving can fit In the log without feeling squished. If there are multiple logs available that are the correct height and width then I dive deeper into things like knot placement, potential sap pockets, and pith placement. If I don’t have a log I like I just run out to the sawmill 😁
