Just to inform everybody. Im driving a E46 from 2005, i had this, tried your method and my car wouldnt start at all, after 2 days the display lights came back and with jumper cables i got my car to start again. My theory is that the weather is a big influence on this matter because prior to this it was really cold, as soon the weather became better the display lights came back. Not saying your method doenst work because the proof can be found in the other comments.
Thank you! had a similar problem with by old 94' BMW, no gauges were moving but the speed, and two brake lights turned on, but the car works fine. turned the key on with engine off, took out random 1 of 4 relevant fuses and put it back in, checked, and everything was back as usual. 3>

The head unit is properly classy innit!. Can’t reply to your comment on the video cos it had a link in it, so I think UA-cam auto-deleted it, but saw it in my emails.
I'm gonna give this a go too! Battery compartment got flooded due to heavy rain last few days and car wouldn't start until I jumped it - but then speedo/dash lights wouldn't work. I've tried disconnecting battery for a day or so (took it out to give it bit of recharge too) - still no speedo/dash lights. Will try this and get back if it works :)
Have you sorted yours out? I have the same issue, only abs and airbag light lights up, tried this method and swapped out the ignition switch, still doesn’t work.
Hello mate, I have a 2001 e46 and my instrument cluster went out while driving, however when I tried to turn it back on after I was parked it did not want to crank or start. I swapped battery, starter, both camshaft position sensors and still nothing. I’ll be trying this method tomorrow, if this doesn’t solve the issue what would you say the problem would be?
Did you make sure that the fuses you pulled weren’t actually blown? If both have gone down together then that does sound like a fuse itself could well have blown
I have the same issue except my heat gauge does go up and stay high...I just check the fuses are ok ...but dint put them back while car idling I'll try doing that
@@StupidBlokeStupidVideos Thanks mate did just that, immediately after I follow all your steps ...nothing happen locked the garage but couple of hour late went in looking for my phone and inserted the key and everything was operating normal. Started it indicators , rev count and my heat gauge normal ..thank you for your video ...maybe you should add after following those steps give it some time

Heet we have the same issue but it did not work. But we also have the problem that the cool fan is not working. Even tho it’s not broke we tested it with the computer. Is this all the work of the abs sensor ?
So I have the issue with only the gas tank needle not working. Just replaced the gas pump 3 times so it isn't that, they said I have to replace the cluster. Do you know which fuses are for the gas needle only? Mine just stays on empty and doesn't move at all I have a 2003 325CI

Tried it out. Car just shuts off when i Pull those fuses 34,10,43. Only lights that turn on is my Abs and airbag light. Radio and everything else works except Trunk Button. Do i just need a new instrument cluster or wha
on my bmw e 46 sometimes when I turn on the ignition there is no light and then it won't start, and when I turn on the ignition and there is a light it starts every time, once I turned the key for 15 minutes until the lights appeared, is this also a problem with the fuse box and does the whole box have to be changed or only a specific fuse?? at the service center they want to replace the entire box, which is not very cheap.

Hi, I did this, but didn’t for some reason had the engine on while I took the fuses out and in. Now the car start and turns off after 2-3 seconds. Took the fuses out and in again, also switched to new ones. Still same. Took off the battery for 20-30 min. Now then car won’t start at all. Gonna check with the second Key tomorrow and listen if the fuel pump works as it should. Do you have any recommendations to do? :) The problem from start was just that the speed, fuel and heat didn’t have light. Clock, radio and all the other stuff have light.

So probably should have done this before but I disconnected the battery and re connected it and things started to work again .but issues with cruse control light staying on when the key is out .so I've copied your video and found the fuse that leaves the light on and taken it out as it might have gone faulty so il try a new fues before taking it to the garage.

Sounds like you possibly had a different issue. Did you have the car running beforehand?

My fused not problemm all. But still dead my odometer😰 .
The fuses on mine were ok, but pulling them out and refitting them in order reset the odometer.

Have you tried the reset again? Check all the fuses are ok. Could maybe be a bad connection behind the dash too 🤔

also the speedometer started to work again just not the actual lighting on the dash, been using a flashlight to see how fast I’m going at night lol

I doubt it’s the abs sensor causing it, possibly a module fault somewhere but I’m unsure, sorry

I suspect that you more likely have an issue with the wiring to the sender unit.

Sounds like it could be a fault inside the clock unit or maybe bad wiring to it?

Did you deffo get the fuses right? You pull the fuses before you start the engine, then you start the engine and put them in one by one

That sounds like it’s more likely an issue with the ignition switch itself to me

você deixou o motor ligado enquanto fazia isso? você também se certificou de que todos os fusíveis estavam bons?
Sim o motor desligado é depois de tudo montado voltei a ligar a bateria e ficou assim

Yes, it just needed an input from the sensors. As soon as I started driving it sorted itself out

Ohhhhhh, I think you might have to do that through the head unit but I’m not sure? It might be easier to just learn German 🤷♀️

Do you remove the fuses with car on or do you remove them before turning car on??
Take them out first, then start the car and put them in one by one is how it worked for me
