Josh I think it's fantastic that you didn't jump on Joe in front of anyone for listening to anyone but you. You are involved with thousands of pounds of freight and you are responsible for your crews safety and there lives so the last thing you need is to have any interferences with your instructions. Good job Josh on your training.
He’ll figure it out. It’ll be good to see Joe in the trucks soon. You guys will be busy the next few months with the docks running 24/7. 💰💰💰I’ll be looking forward to your videos. Stay safe!
I believe that some people would think that you are just some dirty tow truck driver with little to no intelligence. But as you have shown especially in this video that it takes intelligence and skills to accomplish what you successfully do on a daily basis. Your dad must be very proud
Many years ago when I played football, only one guy talked in the huddle and that was the quarterback. There were no exceptions. If another player decided to be a talker in the huddle he was pulled from the game and he dealt with the head coach later. There can only be one person setting the play while the game is in process and it’s not the time for debate or discussion. You have to execute. Everybody knew who the quarterback was. I was a blocker.
Heavy and short, I had a tank like that the other day. The tandems wouldn't slide out. Since it was loaded already. Loads like this are Squirrelly. ALWAYS BE CAREFUL AND TAKE YOUR TIME. Y'all keep doing that thing you do so well.
I can say this from many years of being "The Chief". I work in an industry that utilizes many hazardous materials such as cyanide, various acids, solvents and carcinogens. In my field, combining the wrong materials can be catastrophic. No matter how experienced the crew I had was, I learned not to make an assumption and to always do my due diligence and review their work. My work was reviewed by other members of the crew as well since I'm human and not immune from occasional cranial flatulence. Bottom line for me was if anything went wrong, I was the one who ultimately owned it as I was in charge. Thanks for posting this and addressing the mistakes that were made. Every mistake is a learning opportunity. They'll only get better from this.👍
Awsome video Josh!! Even though you had some issues. But look on the bright side that math portion at the end was amazing I'd love to see more of that. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that loved it.
I don't think that a job is "imperfect" if someone learns from it. You did it safe and smooth and that is what matters. You did good with the "math" as well. Some people that have never dealt with that don't really get it. You explained it well. Could you have done that with one truck? Yes, but why would you when you have 2 and it is WAAAAY safer? Job well done my friend!!
The only time you can only use one truck: You have 4 winches on your boom. And yes I agree with Josh, that two trucks is safer, even in that situation.
It's a wonder anything shipped in a container from overseas survives any distance inland. Seems every week there's at least 1 rolled container being flipped back over on this channel. These container hauling companies seem to hire the worst, most inept drivers. It's no wonder Pepes' is successful. These container drivers are keeping them in business. Lol. Love the channel! My uncle just retired from the towing world here in West Michigan and drove a rotator more than anything else in the fleet.
Regarding the "too many Chiefs" problem. Maybe try a "pink Vest" (can actually be any colour) process where the person in charge of the recovery wears a distinctive coloured safety vest and is the one from whom others take direction.
Hey Josh good work , yeah the tractor catch not use to that kind of work from pepes. But I am no expert just by watching all time your container jobs😂 how easy they come. All you guys are awesome.
You'll get him trained up and recoveries will go smoother. It's always easier when a second company isn't involved. That goes for a lot of different jobs. That was a lot of weight in such a small container. It's on its wheels and you're out of there. Nicely done.
People can tell you that you should have done the uprighting with one truck, but they do not make the payments or have the responsibility of the safety of the public and crew. Good work
I have a strong feeling that you will have a lot of work out of the harbor in the next few months. I see many tipping cans throughout So Cal and the Nation...not talking Budweiser. Another great job and philosophy that you have.
As always, Very Good work, but also Josh you take a lot of pride in the cleanliness, and organization of your truck, now take some time to clean the remote, easily done with some hand cleaner, doesn't take a lot to get results
Lots of Good examples in this video Josh…! And lots of good explanations from you of why and why not on each aspect of this recovery… Nice to see from our perspective, considering we are not there with you on the recovery… But since you explain things the way you do, it’s the next best thing experiencing what you experience firsthand… Re the catch on the tractor… is a good example, like you indicated, of what not to do and why… Just curious Josh since I’m not 100% sure from my viewpoint . . . Did Hector mention or indicate why he did not use a catch? Was it because the tractor was already damaged? I especially like what you did at the end showing us the over the site tip chart… and including the why… re being safe and not cowboying it…! Thanks for this one…!
What causes a truck to flip over on a sunny day with no rain? Did the load shift? Going to fast on the ramp? Does CHP reports get posted on a public web site? PS - nice that you do a self critique / after action afterwards. Nice explanation on the load limit chart and safety margins.
If it was an import. We have no idea how it's loaded. If it was an export and loaded correctly. Then you know. There's a real bad curve by my work 20mph off camber. A friend of mine rolled an import 20 there. 38000 lbs 17 plts singled in the nose slid at 13 mph.as read off the ECM. Rolling the truck. No bracing in the container. Fun stuff.
Those 20 ft containers are always stacked 2 High to the ceiling so they tend to be very heavy if you drive safe and are cautious of your turns it isn’t a problem but if your taking a curve to quick you can have the load shift causing you to roll over , I know this because I pull a lot of 20 ft containers these imports need to regulated if you ask me
I was going to say the same thing, with the caliper. of so called drivers out there your going to see this all over the place. You might even make enough to buy another rotator rig.
I must say I do like your videos and love the look of the hulk. However, think it would have helped to have had two extra auxiliary winches on the boom also in this situation then you could have rolled the trailer and caught it with the same Truck. Two trucks instead of three trucks. You should see what Ron Pratt on UA-cam channel Midwest Truck does with his 50 ton rotator setup like that. Love your videos also though so keep them coming please. On a side note you were the first to get a 75 ton rotator in L.A. so are you looking to be the first in L.A. to get the M100 (100 ton) rotator?
More lines does not increase the boom rating, which is what I went over towards the end of the video. I could have 200 lines on the boom, none of that increases the boom capacity. As for the M100, would have no use in my fleet.
@@PepesTowingService I understand that it does not increase boom capacity but watch some of Ron's videos he explains it in one of the videos. All you are doing is transferring the weight from one set of lines to the other set of lines and therefore you are not adding weight to the boom. Don't get me wrong I know there are multiple ways to do the same job and I have seen you do things I think he could have done to make a job easier also. I do love watching your videos especially the way you use drones to investigate things the use of technology is awesome to me. The graphics on hulk are stellar also. I follow 5 different rotator tow companies on you tube and 3 of the five roll trucks the way Ron does and one takes chances I think are unnecessary and rolls the entire truck and trailer with one 75 ton Truck. I love seeing all the different ways people do things. You do have to admit that the M100 is a cool rotator though and yes I admit for about 95% of people it would be over kill. Just thought maybe you might be looking at getting one since L.A has lots of heavy loads coming through. I'm hoping that when I get into Long Beach tomorrow I see hulk on the road also.
why do you get some UK speck 40 foot trailers with 3 axles on supper single 385 tyres or fore you lot tires , with the trailers you use with the axles on the arse no wonder they fall over
Another good job well done, but you could have done without that older guy interfering when you are in mid lift, he should have got chased off the site. Don’t know how you can keep so calm with idiots like that wandering around while the lift was in progress.
Some tips. Stretch the chassis before you get the box set. It's still heavy but not over on the axle just over on bridge. Is the weights in American LBS or kilograms. That chassis is fine with 20000 lbs but 20000 kilograms is mid 40s American, stretch the chassis. Did the driver know the weight? A railroad I haul for won't tell you what the can weighs.
It would be interesting to know , with all those containers sitting out there waiting to get into port, if the roll over activity is down for the moment. You wouldn't think so if you watch Pepe's Towing. 😉
Closing the gap between the container and the chassis I could hear Ron Pratt "nice and slow, easy moves" Another great job done.
Josh I think it's fantastic that you didn't jump on Joe in front of anyone for listening to anyone but you. Josh You have the rigging down to a science. Thanks for sharing and stay safe.
I like the fact that you called out the part of sloppy work on the tractor part of it and avoided the distraction by the older guy
Thanks for the excellent message on safety and equipment sympathy. There are too many cowboys out there.
Really enjoy watching your videos

Awesome job Josh. Joe has a really great teacher. Learn from the best.
#1 fan here, just got your package 📦 🙌🏻 going to frame it
great job glad to see someone who doesn't take risk
Great explaining the load and strength. Good video, stay safe.
There ain't nobody smoother in the recovery business than you & your guys mr josh- keep 'em coming, & BE SAFE!!!!
Good job Josh and Joe.
Josh great job! When operating equipment there’s only one person in charge! Thanks for sharing. Kevin
It's great that you are being safe. Need more company doing the same thing. Stay safe out there brother
Thank ya for the class on yet another Great job brother Josh 🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼🤠

Hang in there Joe, it's a tight fight with a short stick, but you will make it. Stressing equipment eventually leads to a catastrophic failure.

Nice job there. How is Daves truck. It’s a shame what happened. Hope to see it up and running
Way to go boys! 👍🏻
Great video. Solid skills and instruction here.

Oh wow that’s my exit I load up at Toyota. Glad I wasn’t out there that day.
Liked all thanks 👍😊
When you and Joe are the two guys hooked up, he should only listen to you.
nice job my man! i concur, why overwork one truck and risk damage or injury when you have more than one. stay safe!

Always do the job with the intent of getting home safely. Saving 10 minutes is not a good trade off for not making it home.
Expect more calls in the middle of the night with them opening the port 24/7 $$$$
Better to be safe than sorry

So when are you going to start using synthetic ropes for wire cables?
Get ready for the 24 hr port traffic
Put the headsets on to block out other people.
why do you get some UK speck 40 foot trailers with 3 axles on supper single 385 tyres or fore you lot tires , with the trailers you use with the axles on the arse no wonder they fall over

JOE: PINK SLIP DAY -- NO ROOM FOR ERRORS!!
Someone was lazy did not slide chassis open when loaded...sure he is regretting it now...
How much does a recovery like this cost
If someone can figure out a way to keep these things from rolling over there will be fewer UA-cam videos.....and fewer towing companies. 😱 😎
Some tips.
Stretch the chassis before you get the box set. It's still heavy but not over on the axle just over on bridge.

When the hell is Caltrains to help with the clean up?
Your gravy jobs are lazy containers !!
Why are there no new airbag recovery posts
What kind of question is this lol, first of all we do tons of containers. Why would we use air bags ?
Typical container hauler. These guys drive reckless and always well over 65 mph on the freeway.
#910 Thumbs uP
Your probably going to be getting a lot more of these with the current situation at the docks. Good luck to you.
