    Great video Jim
    When i bought the Snapper Hivac at a garage sale...flipping $ it was what i had in mine. But now after watching your videos and picking your brain...iam loving the quality and wanting to bring it back to its glory days. Mechanical and paint. So thankyou Jim for sharing your wisdom and instilled me with confidence to restore.
    Cheers Eric

    Great wheel bearing information That's pretty cool how you turn those adapters for you hydraulic press and drill press. And the turtle,
    I guess I've heard you mention it one time before. I'll have to google that.
    So to make the rear bumper pipe you must have access to a pipe bender. I made the top 1/2 to repair one, the other day. And used similar pipe like you did, and used the draw bar on my super M { it has a round portion} to wrap around & and a long pipe for leverage. Wasn't much fun but eventually got the second bend in . Mine was broke off at the
    "top", 5/16 bolt hole. I guess that's there weak spot. So If under the bolt heads ( the bolts are plenty long) if they would of cut a reinforcement 1" wide x 6 or 7 inches to reinforce past the holes and in-between too, Not really needed there, just easier with 1 piece. Then
    the previous owner might not of broke it off when he abused it somehow.

    My front right wheel bearings came apart on my last mow. Thanks to this video, I had the Snapper back up and running today. Tractor Supply didn’t have anything, but my local Snapper Dealer had them (all four only cost $9 and change). I also have ordered the bushing kit for the front end. Maybe I can get another 18 years out of this mower. 😂
    Thanks for the video.

      Well I’m glad I could help you if you need anything else just let me know just don’t forget to grease and check the lube in the chain case and differential and I’m sure it will last another 18 years. Jim

    I used the Heim bearings and they worked great. Cost way more than the Snapper bearings but the steering was better than factory when I bought the mower new. I could turn the mower with my fingers. Thank you for the video and the suggestion.

    Great tips and awesome fix/mod with the RF122214PP
    3/4"Bore x 1-3/8"OD x 1/2"L x 1-1/2" Flange OD x 1-3/8"OD
    or 0.7500 X 1.3750 X 0.4375 INCHES
    Double Seal Flanged Radial Ball Bearing. Looks to match many part numbers like John Deere part LM127304
    Amazon search yielded a couple sets of these with 4 bearings. At around $10 Xike brand and $12 marathon brand. Even if these sets are lesser quality vs. the ones you got; they spec the same size with seals. And surely there ain’t no way they can be as wimpy as the stock style snapper bearings!
    Also, wow I had never even thought to use my drill press as a light duty PRESS. That’s pure gold knowledge!
    Thanks,
    Jeff

      Jim Jackson Sure thing. I learned the less I spend, the less I hear my wife yell ‘You spent what on WHAT!?’ I should note for amazon and such, prices fluctuate often for lawn/garden parts. Ie rear tires I watched go from > $20 to

      I get mine from Applied Industrial. My office number is 231 -798-7751. I believe they are pretty much nationwide, so check your area for a store. The part number is RF122214PP. Jim.

    I've replaced the bushings and installed real bearing in the hubs but I swear the wheels are toed out when pointing forward. I'm about to replace the tires and hubs and would like to have the new set track straight. TOE OUT? TOE IN? DEAD STRAIGHT? And how to adjust the alignment? Any suggestions?

    • @jimjackson9381
      @jimjackson9381  2 роки тому

      Well I am surprised that your snapper hade bushings in the front tires in the first place snapper puts bearings and all of them they’re cheap bearings but they put bearings in all of them somebody must’ve changed them out before you got to Machine.
      If you do not have adjustable tie rods there’s not much you can do I would replace all of the nylon bushings on the tire rods and steering shaft and kingpins that might help The only other thing you can do to toe in the tires is bend the tire rods. Jim

    What's a part number for the cheap ones, and where to get them?????
    And... how come no way to adjust tie rods? MY wheels point outward by ~10 degrees each side

    • @jimjackson9381
      @jimjackson9381  2 роки тому

      The cheap bearings for the front tires there isn’t a part number that I know of you just go down to a tractor supply or a farm and fleet or I think even Menards sell them just bring an old one and match them up, on the slop in your steering it sounds like your bushings on the tire rods are shot there’s four of them one on each end of each tie rod if you replace them that should help a little but I would imagine the bushing on your steering shaft is bad also check that out and let me know what you find. Jim

      @@jimjackson9381 Thanks for reply. Was also wondering if the clutch disc that has the rubber ring around it - ..is that rubber ring supposed to move around on the disc? Or should it be a tight fit - unable to move on the clutch disk?

      Hi Jerry
      The bearings should fit all snapper riders probably would fit all riders they all use those cheap little bearings. Thanks Jim

    Hey Jim alright I got the snapper all back together and it roll beautifully after replacing all that I think it was that axel nut that a missing. I have a question. When i stood it up on the bumpers will it HYDROLOCK? because I put it down & fired it up and it ran for 30 second and the engine seized ..now I have a Bigger problem.

    • @jimjackson9381
      @jimjackson9381  5 років тому

      Vinnie C
      Hi Vinnie
      I’ve never had that happen I stand mine up all the time to work on it when I set it back down I usually let it sit for about a half hour so the oil will run back down where belongs What happened to it it didn’t throw a rod didn’t, maybe you’ve got excessive gas or oil on top of the piston remove the spark plug and try to turn it over. Let me know what you find out thanks Jim

    • @VinnieC262
      @VinnieC262 5 років тому

      @@jimjackson9381 it was totally my fault i was so darn happy it was back together & rolling I forgot to let it sit so the oil can drain back down.
      yeah I took the plug out and the pull start or flywheel doesn't even budge.
