Choosing My Preaching Bible part 7 - wide margin Bibles

  • In part 7 of choosing my preaching Bible, I look at the idea of using a wide margin Bible. There are a lot of good choices and some of them have a clean text with excellent paper for writing and reading.
    Also, there's an advantage in preaching from a Bible that you've studied in - even if you don't use the notes for the sermon. Of course, you can add your sermon outline if you want, word studies, references, maps, or anything you want to use for notes to go along with the Bible you're presenting from. It's similar to adding notes to your Powerpoint slides.

    I preach from a wide margin and love it. I can put my own notes next to the text plus I have a color code system that helps me. The paper is nice and its lambskin plus now like you said I know where everything is. Thanks for the video Randy!

    I think I want the note takers Bible in Lambskin.

    The CBP note takers is amazing. I would gladly pay up for better paper. I got my Cambridge WM just recently and agree. Best paper and very readable. My favorite Bible right now. I have written on both sides of the margins in Genesis and Matthew so far and nothing has bleed through with a Pigma Micron pen

      The KJV Store is releasing a premium Note Takers with amazing paper in January. I'm looking forward to that one.

    Randy, I don't know if you've ever heard about the Cambridge wide margin w/ Berkshire leather. BUT, A baptist pastor friend of mine gave it to me in 1998 brand new. He was given 2 of them free, from Charles Stanley's ministry at the Southern Baptist Convention in 1998. And to me-- it is the **perfect preaching wide margin bible ever made.** And trust me, I've seen them ALL!!! ( Its a perfect size, weight, portability, space to write on top, sides, and bottom- two inches on sides n bottom; and 1 inch on top-- W/ 2 nice satin wide ribbons which are rare in any cambridge bib) Only $40 bucks then, probably $55 today. Though the leather is Berkshire, aka, pigskin, it has held together well. The print is small, which it would have to be to have all the EXTRA Space to write-- but, its very bold and opaque--w/ all those great center column refs in the middle from the org 1611 cambridge version. 9 by 7--blk color, w/ maps n concordance.....And yes,, even the maps, concordance, and Intro pages are ALSO -*-ALL-*- "WIDE MARGIN" from front to back w/ some extra blank sheets of paper in back. BUT, the only Bad news is--***They are no longer in print*** by CAMBRIDGE. I know...BOOO!!!! LETS CRY TOGETHER IN UNISON!!! 😔😪😩😫😥😢😭😱😳😳😳😳😳🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😇😇😇 But, But, But, ***I truly believe enough preachers would purchase these, that Cambridge would greatly benefit big time from reprinting this classic Cambridge w/m perfect preaching bible!*** CAN I GET A WITNESS???? 😊😊🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏🙏🙏🙏AND, If U can ever put your hands on even a **LIKE NEW VERSION,**-- I HIGHLY RECOMMEND U GET ONE or TWO!!! With what I've heard u say in your Bible Reviews, I believe it could become your NEW NUMBER #1 WIDE MARGIN PREACHING BIBLE EVER!!! OK, I'm done... GOD BLESS U BRO!!! LOVE ALL YOUR REVIEWS!!!

    I wish that they would center the text MORE in the wide margins especially in the single column wide margin so they don't leave too much space on the edge and then sort of crowd the gutter.

    .and I found it a bit easier to turn the 36 GSM paper so I guess that means that thicker paper is easier to turn but it seems like Schuyler and everyone else is going to the thinner paper. Except Nelson PREMIER.

      @@BibleBuyingGuide A preaching bible for me must have verse by verse that's a must, but to flexible is an issue which is why I really like a solid built paste down. I tell ya Randy out of all the bibles I've reviewed I keep going back to the Longprimer Buttero in my mind. I think if I were preaching today I'd use that one for my main bible. I traded mine away to bless a friend and I'd like to get another one someday but it looks like Allan dropped it. It had the perfect mix of softness and yet still solid enough to not flop over , it lays in your hand very comfortably. Also the ink was very dark and crisp compared to other prints ive seen. I don't know if you ever got a chance to see one yourself but IMHO its the most underated premium I've reviewed, I loved that bible😍

      @@Airik1111bibles I haven't seen that one, but I'm like you on the covers. I buy paste-down because of the stiffness and they stay open better. I have a few edge-lined that stay open well, but they almost always have a hump where the tab is.

    I have both the standard Cambridge Concord and Widemargin, really do like them both only issue is the Widemargin could be a little bigger on font size say 9.5 and the text moved a little closer to the spine.

    What is there to choose from, if a single column wide margin is what you're after?

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  3 роки тому +2

      Most translations have a single column journaling edition available. For KJV, my favorite is the Notetakers from CBP, LCBP, or the KJV Store. For NASB, the Preacher's Bible from Three Sixteen Publishing is good. The Zondervan Side Column Reference is good. For ESV, the Preacher's Bible paragragh and verse by verse editions from Crossway are good.
