Well, it’s been a long road, but I have to post that we’ve officially thrown in the towel on Doctor Stew. We thank you for all your support, but there is no way I can continue to do these without financial support. We’ve been off the job for a while, but I woke up today, and realized with a broken heart that I will most likely never resume this series again. 2020 claims another victim.
i'm absolutely gutted that you can never do doctor stew ever again. But i hope you can move on to better projects sometime in the future

Since this series was cancelled, my head canon is that, after the brigadier mentioned P.E.R.U, the Doctor was like “nah, I don’t care” and then went back to the (re)tardis to watch power rangers. And after that would come toon crash

Just discovered this, loved both episodes. Loved the nod to other shows and am I the only one sad enough to recognise the tune at the end I.E. Bubsy the Bobcat game tune.

Sorry man. I haven’t really announced it yet, but I got tired of chasing this dream, and decided to chase a career that can give my wife and kids the life I want for them. I had to step away from stew, this time, maybe forever. I’m always open to the possibility of hiring a few people later down the road to help me, but this is no longer a one man job... I had to step away. :(

If I had known this was being released today, I would have rewatched the previous episodes beforehand. I've forgotten almost everything.
There were a few inconsistencies and awkward bits in the animation (ex: everyone being absurdly smaller than the buildings, the Doctor and his companion suddenly switching places when they get off the elevator, etc), but they weren't large enough to interrupt the story.
I'd say the weirdest thing about this animation shift is that the backgrounds are quite elaborate and rather realistic (such as 0:23-0:50). Then, we have these cartoonish characters and objects placed in front of them. It causes this weird clash of reality and fantasy...
Sophie Filo thanks for your feedback! For the awkward clash, I totally agree, and we plan on addressing it as we get a little more financial backing.
As for their size... they are kinda kids... so they should be small!
I plan on bringing in people in the future to work on a specific “art design” for the backgrounds and stuff. Right now it’s all just me!

4:32 to 4:47, at least something good came out of waiting so long.
You should deficiently look into Toon Shaders or a Toon Tenderer.
And if you want to speed up rendering, perhaps have a look at Blender's EEVEE renderer.
I was using finaltoon/finalrender, but the toon lines looked really bad for some reason, and when I contacted CEBAS about it, they couldn't really help me. I spent about three weeks simply trying to define the toon lines, and I realized that many of the issues I was having with their look was directly related to finaltoon, so I axed it. On the scene when they are walking down the street, some of the original finaltoon shaders were still on the character models, and the lighting looks... well.. bad.
I know that Freestyle renderer was used for a while in some "toon" projects, but I think that it has been discontinued because you could just use the node-editor to re-create many of the "toon" effects when rendering in Internal or (if you were sadistic) Cycles.
But with EEVEE you can render materials in real-time in the viewport as it uses OpenGL for the rendering... So that might be something to look at... (Blenders shaders are converted to GL shaders on-the-fly). (EEVEE is bloody impressive).
And with the 2D editing support that will be added in 2.8 (thanks to GreasePencil) it can serve to do hand-drawn animations, if needed.

I would probably look in to Blender, as it is starting to gain support in the film industry.

_High Castle,_ Barnstorm VFX that is behind it is a uses blender.
Max Puliero who works in the Gaming industry was interviewed by CGCookie on why he used Blender when he also has 3DS Max and Maya. _"I Use Blender Because It's Powerful, Not Because It's Free"_

(On a side note: I remember at university a guy who did 3D in Maya (I think it was) was frustrated that he was suppose to add a notch on the inside of a "table frame" for a peace of glass to sit in, and I said "Why don't you just do two circle cuts on the inside and select the faces and extract outward?" and he looked at me and said "Maya can't do that..." I was like "WTF? That is basic stuff in Blender" and left shaking my head. This was many a years ago, so it might be possible now.)

Doctor Stew well personally I would have been willing to wait longer if you made it 2d but maybe your other fans would disagree.
