An update from June 2024. Todd has shown where the Night Market has been moved along the Mekong. Long Pizza has either closed or moved. There is a nice newer hotel ($16) just upriver from the restaurant boats on the Mekong, Meksavan Guesthouse that does not show up on Google Maps. Pilgram (something) is a little farther upriver. Nice selection of foreign food with outdoor seating with great views of the Mekong. You have to make appointments through the internet to apply for visas at the Thai Consulate. That just started at the first of June.
Thank you for this great video of my home town. My brother and his family lives there. He has a few business there, "Savan Barbeque", "Xangphuak Hotel", "Xangphuak Agricultural Store" and a clothing store. He speak English as we were raised up in Canada, just in case you want to speak with someone in English.spaghettis and Stone oven made pizza, visit Savan Barbeque, right next to the Bus Terminal.
The Hillman Minx Is interesting with Maxxis Tyres stickers on it - Maxxis is still around . Obviously Savannakhet is a big expansive town but I do like the look of it and of course the night market . Thanks T 😎🇦🇺👌👍🙏
Hi Leanne.. Glad you're enjoying them. The feedback to the images at the end of some of our travel videos has been very positive, which is great. Will be taking that camera along more often now 👌 Thank you
Todd,,mi amigo,,that funky street with the coffee shop,,I could spend a month on a street like that. Sounds like a hippie song,,,lol,,, just as long as the markets are nearby. For drinks,,food and toilet paper,,in that order. I concur with you 1000 % about the damn signage. I hate seeing big signs and billboards in places where they cover nature or old beautiful structures. In new modern cities,,,,mehhhhh,,who gives a half a flying shit! But in among old French colonial buildings,,I see your wrath and raise it! That braised pork and bamboo recipe Neenee posted earlier looked soooooo magnificently delicious,,I'm gonna try it. But the bamboo is going to be a hard find. There is a small new Asian market in Billings about 50 miles away,,maybe they'll have it. We shall see. Big thanks Todd and Neenee for all the time and effort you spend to entertain us and I truly appreciate the things you've taught me,,as well. The history,,the culture and the people.🙏🙏🙏🙏👍,,,TTYL friends,,,Marlon
I miss my city Savannakhet i don’t remember much We left Lao because communists wit my parents when I was 9yrs old back in 1983.😔 I love to go visit Lao someday thank you for sharing🥰
Neenee, you are welcome and I thank you and Todd for the videos you both share with us. There is always something interesting and amazing about the people, they smile more than Americans and me, I never smile because I never have a reason. It is watching shows like this that strike my emotions in many ways and give me a longing of wanting to fit in somewhere, but it just ain't working in America anymore unless I live alone in the mountains. That is why the jungle of the Yucatan was so nice being miles from anyone in peace. Speaking of peace, best to you both and health friends.
In australia the old rounded hillmans were minx, in 1969 when these were released we called them hillman hunters , i believe two GT hunters competed in the london to sydney rally and did very well.
Nice “barn find”. If she’s a Hillman Minx, her big brother the Hillman Hunter won the 1968 Dakar rally against all odds. Maybe take her home and give her some love. And maybe leave some room in the garage for the dining table you’re going to build one day. 😉
I really enjoy your video's and nee nee's also. My mom likes them also. Sorry about nee nee's brother and her friend. You both are very warm and friendly people. Keep the vids coming.🙏😁😃
Yes..I'm worn out ,riding around with you guys ,the last 13 days ( lol), been a bloody hoot . Good to chill out in Savannakhet ,you and Neenee,Thanks for a great 13 day trip...Cheers...Kenno..West Aust
I agree with your opinion of the huge advertising signs. They're an eyesore all over Thailand as well. The Thai will go along with anything if there's a buck to be made.
Feel sorry for ya but Queensland is better HAHAHAHAHA love your vlogs keep up the great work i have been to thailand several times have a mate lives there most of the time at Kummpawhappi below Udon Thani he is in aus at the moment can not get back there .I love it over there lovely people

Seems like a good night to me. Hope those fries filled you up.
No, not really. I don't think they understand what a large serving of fries means here... well, not like we're used to. Ha!

Tree growing through front bumper :)
Always love the music.
What is the name of the song or artist. Glad to see you can still get about. In lockdown here in Nam till early August so far. Bummer.

A Minx is a Hillman but unusual for a left hand drive.
It's pretty unusual to see a left hand steering!
I remember Hillman Minx. I don't believe the company exists any longer.
Neene had this innocent little girl look while eating so nice,
the car looks like an old 60's car made by Humber
Foods mire important than architecture Todd. Bushyboy Oz.
