honestly you could recreate this sound without his relatively high end equipment if i were to recreate this tone, i would use a combination of some tube distortion plus multiband compression with the bass turned up so it triggers the compressor

I used to think this about a lot of "clean" tones then I found out it's mostly finder technique, electronics in the instrument, and compression.
