What a tune. I’m 54 years old and I still keep finding brilliant Kinks and Ray Davies songs that are new to me. Us brits have turned out some fantastic singer/songwriters over the years, but there aren’t too many as good as our Ray.
Ray Davies started "The thinking man's Beatles" long ago, and he's still putting out diverse, new and brilliant songs! A truly gifted musician, the likes of whom there are few.
most singers/songwriters have many influences, but Ray Davies makes great use of a tremendous diversity of styles, subjects and performers and they all become Ray Davies. cheers
Every time I hear that lonesome train roll down the track I think of this song! It really speaks to me. Of course, I say that about so many of Ray Davies' songs.
This man is a master storyteller and observer of all life's little events and the people in them...always adding a dose of irony and humor. Getaway - Lonesome Train is one of the few songs I could put on to a continuous loop and get chills each time it played. THANKS R.D.
This song is on" Other People's Lives" CD 2006.Its called " The Getaway( Lonesome Train)" I almost forgot about this. Anyone know what touring band had for" Working Mans Cafe"? In another video( A Long Way From Home) Ray introduces the girl as " Kiera" or Cara. Anyone else know who she is? She has to be good to join with Ray Davies
I love that kind of "feel" and "rhythm" and sound. "Water of Love" "Wicked Games" . etc all use a similar approach.Perhaps I could try to record a cover of Lonesome Train..
About the 2nd time I've been able to listen to this. I saw this show in Seattle the year my husband died. He was jealous of Ray. He needn't had been. He was my life.

Greatest songwriter. I listen to his songs every day. Love Ray Davies and The Kinks.
They'll never be anyone like Ray Davies ever except Ray! He's a dedicated man of passion and seclusion! That's the way you should be! Much love Ray!

Such a great composer. And musicians backing him. Love this song.
A fantastic song by the best of the best

My "absolute favorite" song by the "absolute" King of Songwriters! The great Ray Davies! No one does it better!
I like Jeff Lynne better, but Ray Davies is right up there.
Fantastic song, great lyrics, nice melody.

Wow!!!!’ Great 🎵 Song Ray
Your songwriting and chord progressions are amazing. Thanks!
AMAZING!!!
Thank you for your post on Ray Davies!
Nice dreamy song, a train holiday could be on the cards, A trans-continental journey with great views and cool beer in abundance 🙂
I love this country rock phase of Ray's utter brilliance. Chris Isaak ought to cover this song...it is right up his street...
ThankYou for Posting & ThankYou Ray!
Perfect!
THE GREAT RAY DAVIES, ALWAYS BEEN THE SAME....................THINK VISUAL
Always come back to this song. Saw in on ACL way back when.
I love this song, but it's one of many that I love from the pen of Ray Davies.
Fantastic!
Beautiful!
Esto si es música
Brilliant!
I love that intro.... should of been way longer.
Whenever I hear Ray sing this, I think he sounds like Neil Young.
Actually it's neil young trying to copy Ray Davies
Neil Young couldn't carry Ray Davies slippers.
@@toby10bears21 No he couldn't. but on this song he does sound similar :-)
Actually there both great. Two of my life long favs.
you guys are great, a lifelong fan :)
Thanks invisible friend.

there's an up tune ... exciting - high energy ,,, PARTY BOY , COULDN'T STOP TAPPING THE FOOT ... IT HAD IT ALL
As with most things Kinks - A very under rated, under sold disc. My favorite of Ray's solos.
Awesome
Great!
Yes....
Who put the dislikes on this post?
Who's the girl?
Who is lead guitarist? That's not Dave's son is it?
I guess it’s just his brother top guitariste 😊
Is that a strat or telecaster at 3:39?
Strat
Tom Anderson guitar.
Ray has not been lucky in love... Karen was very pretty.
As Ray said, “l’m easy to love, but impossible to live with.”
Get rid of that Taylor Ray. You need a Gibson or a Martin.
Who are you to tell Ray Davies what he "needs" to do? Now drop and give him thirty!
@@Tenskwatawa4U lol.
@@Tenskwatawa4U Taylor guitars are shite.
