I discovered Meshell in 1994 when I bought Plantation Lullabies and I was still in high school. When I listened to it, I got a gust of wind in my ears. Great groove and fabulous songs. I love this artist and the woman she is. 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I was there and indeed it was a fantastic gig! This was also when I introduced my dad ( who was pretty much stuck in the 70's era musically) to MeShell, He loved the performance and became an ever bigger fan of her music than I am.
Talking of performance pressure, Larry Graham (The Guy Who Invented Slap Bass) was in the audience. And yet Meshell and her band tore the roof off the place. These are musicians who are always ready and are under no pressure. Music just flows through them all the time. Larry must have been so proud of her.

That rhythm section is essentially Screaming Headless Torsos circa 94 minus SHT bass player Fima Ephron, and lead singer Dean Bowman, with the addition of the great Wah-Wah Watson on guitar, Yosi Fine on bass and Federico Peña on Keys, The Torsos: David Fiuczysnki on guitar, Daniel Sadownick on percussion, Jo Jo Meyer on drums.
She's my fav, one of the most underrated artists of our time, seriously. Alright they kinda all look pretty high in there but man, this is great music. Thanks @TheHagueYears for this vid !
Meshell Ndegeocello is an amazing artist, musician and producer, the first Album is the just awesome, I had to buy it , it needed to be in my collection. I appreciate how she sounds exactly the same live, the same on her album.

Seen her live twice and although her recordings are nearly mint to me and well produced she also kills it playing live. She surrounds herself with such great musicians. Lover since her neo soul funk sound debut album Plantation Lullabies.
