so how well did it hold up? We just bought a used RV and are in the midst of renovation and this might be a great alternative to recovering or replacing the sofa
Hmm well, it depends on your budget and tastes, for me.. it worked for the short term but I eventually had them reupholstered.. I didn’t know when I painted them I would be reupholstering them! We Had a friend of the family help us out..
@@nathanshiannetinsley5723 Which pieces of furniture did you upholster? How much was it with the materials and how much time? Thank you man and keep up the videos!
Apparently, you can help yourself avoid some of or maybe most of the crunch if you sand after each coating.. some kind of abrasive that will not hurt the fabric.. as for us, it was a great cheap fix however, we eventually replaced the upholstery altogether. Check out our renovation videos or look up how we winter in Maine, the video shows a lot of the interior or our Rv.
@@nathanshiannetinsley5723 So... apparently... the Chairs didn't turn out very good... or you wouldn't have felt the need to upholstery them... So... WHY did you even do this video... ??? Why did you waste our time having us watch this video, thinking we could have beautiful chairs... You gave us hope we could do the same thing... I wonder how many people did what you did, and felt they had ruined their chairs... You shouldn't have even made this video or at least TELL us after watching almost 11 minutes for nothing... I am VERY SAD...
A couple of tips. Too late for you but maybe not for somebody who’s going to do this. The intent is not to paint the fabric but to dye the fabric. First of all you want to wet the fabric with a spray bottle. Not soaking wet just a little bit wet. Instead of using a spray fabric paint, you can use chalk paint. 50% chalk paint 50% water. brush the paint on, then use a sanding block to rub in the paint rub it in make sure the paint is on evenly. Then your fabric will not come out crunchy and will last.
Actually, it would seem to last with no ability to peel! However, We don’t have a long term review, we ended up replacing the upholstery altogether! I still feel this is a great + cheap option!
I sorry I honestly don’t know, we ended up reupholstering them soon after.. i still think it’s a good option for some situations and applications, if you could, try a small test fabric and then after it dries see what you get?
Check out my rv renovation videos.. lol I actually completely reupholstered the seats I kept in the rv! Thanks in advance for watching and let me know what you think..
🌺. I’M WONDERING HOW LONG AGO YOU PAINTED YOUR RV CHAIRS & HOW THEY LOOK NOW?? DID YOU USE A SEALER AFTER THEY WERE ALL PAINTED? THANK YOU. HAPPY CAMPING ⛺️ :)
Great questions! I think I have explained to other inquiries that we actually reupholstered the chairs about 6 months after this video. We did a total remodel job on the Rv and that included reupholstering all the furniture at that point. However, I’m still a fan of the paint. We didn’t use any sealer and we didn’t experience bleeding into our clothes. Also, Bc we didn’t test the paint product very long I really don’t know how it would look after several years! I suggest trying a small piece of fabric with one bottle of paint and seeing if you like the result, I hope this helps! Happy camping!
So 6 cans to do 2 chairs , how many would you need to do everything ? In canada that stuff is 16 bucks a can so 100 bucks just for 2 chairs is toooooo much ,go buy dye , its cheeper and could do all your furniture with a spray bottle and some elbow grease . I would only use this on vinyl , plastic or leather but any fabrics just use dye , i seen lots of carpets done with dye and wow brand new looking and still soft and a faction of the cost , no smelly aerosol and can do it inside the vehicle without a respirator . Just my opinion not an expert
The texture is more rough than smooth but that may be user error. I feel it’s important to brush the “die/paint” in after each coating! We didn’t do that..
So, we eventually reupholstered the seats.. but bf we did, I was stiff but there’s ways to help that.. scrub it in as you add layers of paint, no issues of paint on clothes!
Hmm it may be in an older comment or in the description! Also check the link in the description, that may be the exact color, I don’t think they have a lot of blue options so it’s almost have to be the one blue they offer?.. Hope this helps
Great question but I can’t answer it bc I ended up reupholstering them within a year. My thoughts on the product are, it’s a good cheap option if you are in a hurry and on a budget.
+Mick Clark The paint made the chairs look newer but it left them rough to the touch. It's possible, that's a result of not scrubbing in the paint while it was wet! We actually just reupholstered them later, (see my motorhome renovation part 3) but painting them can work. After I did it I didn't have trouble with the paint leaking on to my clothes and after some time it got softer where I sat on the chair. Just Rem to scrub it in!
Lol I thought they turned out good, but we ended up reupholstering them When we remolded the whole RV.. check out those videos on this channel. I never went into much detail on the upholstery but that’s what we ended doing..
Nathan Tinsley ..how much to reupholstery them?? In leather?? I found some brand new leather like captain chairs for around 1200 a set. Real modern looking also. Can't make up my mind
Seats look great! I didn't know fabric paint even existed. What a great way to update an older coach
Wow, that looks amazing. It’s actually a good idea. 🙏🙌
Wow...... Super nice job. I've been contemplating doing the same but have been too nervous. You just sold me on it 100%! Thank you for sharing!
Looks great! I have rv with "leather" that is pealing & looks like it has the mange! I may have to totally reupholstry them. Great job on the video.
Thankyou!!
Spray paint looked great. A sanding block would have softened the fabric. Do you have a video on the couch?
When do you use the sanding block
Totally doing mine now! Ours has dusty rose colours...89 Vanguard RV...can't wait too see how your sofa turns out. Going to do my blinds/toppers too.
Great paint strokes and distance. Thanx 👏👏👏
Hate noobs that post paint vids and can’t paint.
The mobile home reminds me of the movie Selena. It looks great though!!
Thankyou!

Is recolouring interior especially seat covers long lasting? I think, the new colour will start peeling off in a few weeks. Am I right?

2:30 if you want to just see him spray.
5:50 for compare.
After painting the seat when you cleaned them would the paint lift? I use cleaners and wonder if the paint with lift off the fabric

If you fallow all the instructions and make sure you buff it into the fibers of the fabric, it works like magic it’s Amazing 🤩
Great job man they look really good
Looks great, how does it feel to sit on?
I was going to ask did it make your couch crunchy?
Yes a little to be honest, but not unbearable! It’s a cheap fix..

What color blue is that? Medium blue or just blue
?? Maybe a couple of shades lighter than a navy blue..
