This week I am making maple look like it’s melted! Thanks to my friends at Arbortech Tools who supplied a couple of new power carving tools for me to test out! If you have any questions about the project, feel free to leave them in the comments below. If you want to support my channel, I just launched my Patreon, and would love to have you join the community that helps me make new projects!

You need to continue these projects that integrate sculpture and furniture. Clearly sets you apart from other makers. Love this.
Thanks! Good to hear. I’m definitely excited to make another piece 😁
So satisfied with the way he lined up the music and the nail gun 👌🏼
in sync
Beautiful table! I especially like how you added the maple to the legs in order to make the piece as a whole more cohesive. First video of yours that I watched and I just subscribed!
Thank you!
Me too ! Lol
@@MichaelAlm Same! New Sub here :)
Michael Alm same!
Same. :)
UA-cam is so cool because there are whole art crafts I would never get to learn about but now I get to watch a whole 15 minute video on wood sculpting and furniture making at 2AM. DOPE!
Watching you carve the drips was one of the most satisfying things I've ever seen. What an absolutely beautiful (and functional!) piece of art
As a skilled tradesman for over 40 years, I always appreciate watching those few who are able to hone their skill set to the level of artisan. Just by watching your methods, it was clear to me that your work was at a level that few approach. Great project, great instructions, and a great result. I subscribed.
Thanks Daniel!
That table is absolutely fantastic. I'm a wood carver, and want to get into building other projects. This gives me a lot of enthusiasm and excitement to get started. Thanks so much!
Thanks! Glad to hear it 😁
Wow - totally blown away watching this. Such an intriguing idea and exquisite piece of furniture.
watched this right when it came out, and just came back to check how the video is doing....glad to see it is getting the attention it deserves! :) this might be my new favorite Alm Fab project.
Thanks Mike!!
My god, that tables incredible, imagine all the colour-ways you could make, bloody immaculate.
Runny wood on a table top....... Awesome!!!! The way the wood seems to run over the edges is quite a bit like how I've seen Apoxy Resins doing the same thing. Never thought I'd every see the same effect in wood..... which is solid! I love it 👍👍👍 That snake and eagle sculpture at the beginning looks so real as well 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Watched your video, subscribed! This sculptural approach to wood working, floored me. As an artist (62, from New England) I appreciate wood working and all arts, but this was enlightening to me. I sure hope you charge a lot if you sell it, what a beautiful piece! The metal, the wood at the bottom of the legs so impressive, but the "melting wood" sublime :)
This is my first video from you I've watched and I'm absolutely speechless. You are a master at your art and it shows. Sculpting + furniture making? What an awesome combo. Not to mention, the editing is on point and I didn't even realize 15 minutes had gone by! Subscribed
Looks great brother. The little inserts for the legs are awesome
One of the most unique pieces of furniture I've ever seen
Super fun project!
Thanks Tamar!
amazing stuff!! I could see myself drunk and staring at that table waiting for the wood to drip. It just catches the eye
Well. Watched one video, on your plywood challenge project. Got inspired. Subbed. Watched another. Got more inspired (I need a bar, now I know how I'll build one). Watched this. Got blown away. Only problem is, I need to sleep eventually...
I just can say WOW.. kudos to your wood working skills.. awesome creativity.. god bless you man..
Absolutely incredible - it's so cool seeing your furniture and sculpture backgrounds coming together in one piece...truly a piece of art Michael!
Thanks Ethan!
What a gorgeous side table! Just the little details you put into it, like the wee wooden block feet on the bottom of the metal legs - it's those wee things that makes it more a piece of art than plain furniture! What a very talented guy you are :)
Ur vid popped up in my recommendations n I'm SO glad I clicked on it! Def got a new sub from me - now I'm going to binge watch the rest!
That snake and hawk carving is incredible!
Man, it was looking good, then you put the shellac on it and it became artwork.
It makes that curly maple pop! Thanks dude!
That was ...... SO COOL AMAZING FANTASTIC & VERY VERY IMPRESSIVE!!
It looks delicious! like ice cream on a brownie
forbidden cookie
That snake and bird sculpture - OMG! You are incredibly talented! And of course, the table is awesome.
9:35 one side got curved horizontally and the other vertically for maximum grip, wow! Love the attention to details!
I keep coming back to this one Absolutely love it, reminds me of unusual high-end piece that is seen in art museum and high-end furniture one of a kind piece.
This is the first time in while that I’ve actually sat down, relaxed and enjoyed a great video. The soundtrack is really good and the editing is awesome.
Keep up the good work
Thank you!
These construction videos are my absolute favorite! Can't wait to see more projects. Love the high quality of your work combined with pleasant editing
awesome work. glad i stumbled upon you and your work. best wishes from a novice scrollsawer in mumbai india.
my guy your channel is so underrated. Keep this up. I started leatherworking and its been a big interest of mine to start something like this and this is super impressive. Im loving your work.
Thank you!
You should mix the two more often it turned out really cool. I wish I could buy it from you.
Great video! Full transparency, this answered one of my biggest questions from your under saw cabinet video, and that was how easy the blade adjust handle would work tucked into that space?
However, it looks like the fit and finish were perfect; well done!
This is just gorgeous! Lovely work and craftmanship!
Love from India. Never seen anyone even attempting to make something so beautiful!!
Thank you for sharing your skills. So enjoyed watching you work! Finding your channel is such a relief!
Watching someone who knows what he is doing, doesn't lie about his accomplishments and does what he says is a nice change from the daily Trump coverage. Bring sanity back to the world! I forgot what an honest day's work looks like. A real man at work.
Wow....just wow! Endless possible combinations of wood and grains could make this piece go with lots of design choices. Amazing work!
Wow, that is a really beautiful melt. I too thought it looked like an animal hide draped over a table. Really impressive.
Simply EXTRAORDINARY! It should be in a museum!
You've been given a gift. It was pretty amazing watching this come together. Excellent!
i wish companies randomly send me contour sanders
Very nice, I like to sculpt as well, and maple is one of my favorite woods. The melted wood is unexpected and really catches your attention. Looks like the Arbor Tech really works well for this process.
I'm blown away with the dripping edge on the table it's something I have not thought of but it is really powerful piece of art and utility. Mark D.
Thanks Mark!
I love it. Very creative!! You literally made the wood look like it was melting.
Wonderful. The melting wood effect and metal wood are very cool.
OK, I love it. Thanks for taking the time to make and share this video with us.
The concept, the execution, the artistry!! It’s beautiful!
Thanks Marylou!!
Loved this piece down to the caps on the legs. Great work.
That is the most beautiful thing that I have seen in a very long time...
The maple caught me right away...such a gorgeous table...love it!
This is a true piece of art. Wow! Would love to see more like this ❤️
I follow a lot of DIY and joinery channels. This piece is by far my fav!
Thank you!
02:34 excellent usage of knee clamps. i am so proud
Learned from the best 😉
You are incredibly talented. I've been a carpenter for 20 years, I have never even considered a project like this!
A E S T H E T I C
This table could definitely be included in a modern art museum
Wow. Beautifully executed. Watching the grain pop when you put on the finish...beautiful. Thanks for letting us watch.
As a woodworking enthusiast, I must say, the video and audio editing, background music and cool designs in this video are phenomenal! I was pleasantly surprised by how... pleasant the quality was. Neat stuff!!!! I only wished you would explain the different finishing techniques a bit more, though I suspect you've made different videos for that topic.
Thank you!! I am working on a video on finishes. It will come out mid September. 👍
@@MichaelAlm WOAH I live in Seattle too,,, I can't believe you have a house in this city
Wow what a great piece , and wonderful craftsmanship.
very nice side table. It looks beautiful. Very well done.
0:14 That snake vs. eagle (or is it an owl?) sculpture is something to behold.
This is so cool. I just started my journey of working with wood and love it. Now I expended my horizons on what can be done with wood. Thank you for sharing this video with the world.
Damn that contour sander would be great for making bows.
Wow for me it looks like a brownie with cream running down. Beautiful!!!!!!
that is some beautiful work, great job.
a very detailed guy from start to editing. Synced the beat to the nailing part is candy to my ear.
And here I thought you actually made wood melt like plastic
carl swanson
Must be having a 'blonde moment'
bruh evolution didnt work for you
BIG BRAIN
My high school chem teacher said wood melts if heated in a vacuum. That would be neat to see.
slowbooboscill8r nope doesnt work.. Sorry
Man you need a bandsaw! I’ve seen people use the table saw to cut from both sides then use a bandsaw to cut out the middle but I haven’t seen anyone use a handsaw to do it since watching my grandfather re-saw an entire board with a bandsaw. He was a master carpenter and furniture maker who used power tools including bandsaws when he worked in someone else’s shop but used hand tools when he worked for himself. He would of loved this piece and your process!
Ron
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!! I wish I could afford to commission one of your pieces.
This table is AMAZING!
Thank you 😁
Really creative idea, and beautifully executed. Nice!
Beautiful piece and your enthusiastic personality is great to see.
wow ... just freaking wow !!! you sir are a master !
I'm so amazed. I had never in my life think of something like that.
I might have to try something like that. That is if I could ever get my wood shop back!!
This is so amazing !!!!! needs like a million views asap.
I am absolutely blown away. I really need to step my game up.
Amazing! You should make a whole set of those.
Fantastic video! So satsifying to watch such craftmanship, and I'm seriously envious of that workshop :)
damn, that is a cracking idea. got a glimpse of some cut-out handles on a couple of doors/drawers I think with bright colored backgrounds. hmm I would like to try something like that
This is by far the BEST wood working video I've EVER seen!
Killed it! This is awesome! Great job!
I saw a homemade piece once that was made out of blown glass and steel wrapped around wood and it was gorgeous a one-of-a-kind piece
Amazing work! Can't wait to see what else you produce!
When I saw the thumbnail I didnt even notice this was a piece of furniture or wood, really nice work
you should build things out of random materials, or just things you find, and carve them, like bobby duke's art, but in your own way with your own ideas, just subbed.
great job. though i am not woodworking-inclined, this was edited so that even i could figure it out.
impressive.
This turned out really fantastic and way better than I imagined when I first saw it on your instagram. Beautiful work!
Dude 10:38 timing on the beat and nailing...
Welldone sir. Welldone.
Michael DALI Alm! Amazing work man! Well done!!!
This may be the most beautiful side table I've ever seen! Amazing work!
yall saying skin and im over here like: g r a m c r a c k e r
Oh, wow. Thank you so much for sharing this. Such a cool, creative design. Your combined skills make this such an unusual piece.
Can we use glass too with this. interested to watch
Awesome project
i just discovered' you today and been binge watching your vids and subbed. I knew even before i got to this video that you are an artist
It’s okay if you like perfection, great job
🤯 Mind blown. When I saw the thumbnail, I thought the top was molded leather or latex, or some other soft, stretchy material. Amazing craftsmanship Michael. With such a beautifully complementary set of skills, I’d love to see you do more of this kind of work!! 👍
Thanks Steve!
Him in his mind: just working on some wood working
His neighbors in their minds: why is there a grown man standing on a table
Интересный столик. Хорошая мастерская. Скоро себе такую оборудую.
A beautiful piece of art! Thanks for showing us the process. I was curious, why did you use the hand saw for the final cut on re-sawing the maple when you have that band saw? Thanks again!
Thanks! The board was about an inch too tall for my bandsaw, so I had to go with the handsaw.
@@MichaelAlm Ah, that makes sense. Thanks!
Man, I learn so much from your videos I wish you heald a class brother I would take it for sure
it puts the polyurethane on the skin or it gets the hose again!!
