@mt4design2 What sound or parts on this record do you actually think could be done by the synthesizers available at the time this record was made? Eventide had a sampler out at the time this record was made that was pretty primitive but according to producer John Boylan it did not sound that good and he did not think the sound quality was where it needed to be to be used on a record. As digital recording was rare at this time and really in its infancy what other medium were they going to use to record on other than analog tape? The 3M 79 2 inch 24 track tape machine was the industry standard and this record was mixed on the 2 inch tape format. The effects on the guitars on this record were all in existence before this record and Tom did not invent them. The so called hyperspace pedal which is a modified Echo Plex tape machine had been around for years before Tom made this record.

I went to the concert for this album and it was beyond incredible, theyre so good they sound almost the same live as on the album. In the top 3 debut albums ever released IMO.
I truly love to watch the reactions to young people listening to these old classic music that i was so lucky to grow up with. They never get old to me.
Does this still sound VERY relevant to me today just because I'm old, or because it still IS? Timeless, in my book! I may be 61 now (and it really DOES "feel like" i still should be 28... the decades indeed DO become an unbelievably fast whoosh, just like we're always told!!), but being 61, I live in the same world that today's music exists in, and i can appreciate and critique it perhaps even "better" than someone younger, because I also LIVED the prior decades of music that led up to today being what it is! I'm kind of liking that "old age wisdom" thing lately. It's a real thing, you young whipper snappers! 😉😂💞 🎶 🎹 (see how old i am here on my own channel)
This was another must have album back in the seventies. Like "Frampton Comes Alive" & Cheap Trick "Live at Budokhan". There's a great live video of them doing this at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ back in '78 or '79 on UA-cam.

One of the greatest true stories of music history this is. Genius playing, composing, producing of Tom Scholtz and magical vocals of Brad Delp made this possible. As good as it gets! Cheers from Finland!
I remember hearing Boston on the radio everywhere as a teenager in 1977 in Detroit and it got to the point that I thought enough is enough. Now that I’m older I wish just one band could come up with a album that could match this one song for song. I didn’t appreciate what perfection this album was.
Tom Scholz married the best of jazz-influenced prog rock (like ELP, Yes, early Genesis, etc.) with the instrumental mastery of 70s arena rock (like Led Zeppelin, Queen, Allman Brothers, Doobie Brothers, Steve Miller Band, etc.). Add in his engineering and producing brilliance, along with his knack for technical innovation, Tom Scholz is an absolute genius.
Here is something that Tom does not talk about because of his Titanic sized ego. When Boylan heard Toms tracks that he wanted to submit for the record, Boylan knew that the drum tracks and acoustic instrument tracks could not be used on the record because they were too amateurish. To remedy the problem, Boylan hired LA engineer Paul Grupp to go to Toms home studio to tutor Tom on how to properly record acoustic instruments as well as proper mic technique. Boylan then gave Tom a directive to re record all drum and acoustic instrument tracks using the skills and knowledge that Tom had gained from his tutoring.
One of the best rock songs ever. And your reaction is priceless. I still remember sitting on the couch hearing this record for the first time. I'm sure I resembled you both.

The entire album is worth the listen. Boston’s music will stand the test of time and live forever. They don’t make bands like they used too… exactly what you said, feel good driving music. Thank you for the reaction. Love your channel! When are you guys gonna tour again???
This is the song I cranked up, over and over and over... every day... to practice on drums. When my sister moved out, I decided her old bedroom needed to be my studio. No recording setup...just my stereo, and my drum kit. All summer long, while my parents were at work, I was "in the studio,"... honing my skills to this song. Even though Neil Peart was my "hero," Sib Hashian, of Boston, through this album, was my mentor. R.I.P. Sib and Neil.
Great reaction - you guys are funny. This was my music in high school. Boston is phenomenal. I appreciate all the "classic rock" I grew up with more today than I did back then. Fabulous reaction, so glad you loved it - this one got you a new subscriber. Thanks!
GREAT SONG OFF A FANTASTIC ALBUM. LOVE THIS JAM. GREAT GUITAR WORK. CRANK IT UP LOUD. THIS WHOLE ALBUM KICKS ASS. NOT ONE BAD SONG ON HERE. A SOLID FUCKIN 10 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
This album is a masterpiece...Tom Scholtz is the american Brian May...literally a genius....There is no world in which I wouldn't love this song...not even any parallel universes...being a guitar player I was just mesmirized by the guitar tones...so much larger than life!! And the vocals are some of the best out there too...this song just takes you to another place...I am sad for people who either haven't heard it, but have heard it and didn't feel the magic
You do know that Barry is playing all of the electric guitar parts on Foreplay and Long Time except the so called "special effects" guitar parts which were played by Tom. The amazing guitar solo on Long Time is Barry all the way. Barry plays an SG and Barry has the ability to be much more legato in his phasing
I didn’t have a subwoofer in my car when I was teenager rockin out to this my car 35+ years ago, but I do now!! And this song still sounds incredible. Glad to see you guys appreciate such an incredible song and band.
The 1970s AM and FM radio airwaves were full of amazing music brought to us by an incredible variety of artists and groups ......Boston definitely among them. We could hardly change the channel without finding a GREAT song We were spoiled.
Fond memories of being a teenager when this album came out. Cruising after school in my ‘64 Chevy Impala SS with this in the 8 track player at full volume. Ahhh.
More than a feeling is their first number one hit off this lp, but every single song is a masterpiece. Back then, you worked to make every song on the album listen worthy, so give this whole album a shot
As a life-long drummer, I can tell you that, as a teenager when the Boston debut album was released, THIS was THE song to learn and master note-for-note. It was an absolute BLAST to play and NEVER got old!
I was 8 when this came out in 1976 and I was lucky that my older sister had the radio on a lot. I grew up hearing this and it's still as good to me now as it was then.
Every song on this album is an absolute banger!!!This is one of my favorite songs of all time. 1st song I play when I hit the highways on a road trip. LOL hellya air guitar!!!! That was fun!! , thanks.
I grew up in the 70s. I remember so very well listening to these guys. I loved them from the start. We did many many many outdoor parties with this plugged into the car stereo and the trunk open to take advantage of the bass. lol lol Boston was honestly one of my absolute favourite bands then and now still. I have spent many many hours with my kids listening to this music. We go out in the pool in the summer and have the tunes blasting at us. They now recognize Boston as soon as the guitar riffs start. Very distinctive sound for sure. The vocals are perfect. Brad Delp, lead singer, had the most beautiful voice and sang effortlessly hitting those super high notes. I dont have any negative things to say about this band. Smokin was a fav along with Rock and Roll Band, and so many others I cannot begin to list them. I also dated a guy who looked very much like Brad. lol lol .Come to remember but he could sing too but not as good. Thank you for this reaction. Made my day of being sick in bed much more enjoyable to take a trip in my past. Amazing 🥰🤘🎵🎸🎹🍺🏕🌞💓💓🥰
I was not a huge Boston fan back in the day. But when this song got cranked up in our college dorm back in 1977, SHIT GOT REAL!!! What a great time to be alive, young, and lovin'.
Those "spaceships" on their albums covers/CD covers are guitars. Took me like 30 years to realize that. So the uniqueness of Boston is unmatched, mainly because of the the guy who started this all, Tom Scholz. Tom was going to MIT, he built a lot of his specialized instruments and musical gear himself, hence the uniqueness. Truly a genius. Still, my favorite band of all time, and this is my favorite song and it will be played at my funeral when it's time. 🙂
It is INCREDIBLE AND AWESOME watching people in general, and especially YOU kick ass folks , discovering this song ITS SO DAMN AMAZING ITS ONE OF THE INCRED THINGS MY DAD INTRODUCED ME TO THAT I WILL FOREVER BE GRATEFUL FOR "ITS BEEN SUCH A LONG TIME " AND that great Boston guitar / spaceship is a tattoo on my right arm IM SO VERY PROUD TO HAVE IT I MISS MY DAD SO DAMN MUCH!!!!! He's been gone 20 years now This song brings a part of him back to me EVERY DAMN TIME THANK YOU FOLKS FOR ROCKING OUT TO THIS GEM
I triple dog dare you to take a deep dive into Boston...especially the ones from the 70's...you won't be disappointed...I promise...Rock ON!!! brothers and sisters!!
1979, Day On The Green #1 - Oakland Coliseum. You have no idea what this concert ...this memory ... means to me. The band, the friends, the weather, the place, the singing, the camaraderie around us ... and the man. Wish sometimes ... think about him sometimes ... I loved you Scott ... did you ever know that ... Thanks guys, I love how this song, this group, still makes me feel.
In the 67 Ford wagon I bought from my parents with the new Cassette Player.....couldn;t believe what I was hearing! Bought the vinyl, too. Saw them live at Anaheim Stadium in 1976. Incredible. The concert was Rory Gallagher, Van Halen, Sammy Hagar ( the Red Rocker) and Boston. WHAT A SHOW! Tom Scholz, & Barry Goudreau on guitars Brad Delp on those Vocals (RIP)
I bought this when it came out in '76. Wore out the record. Can't remember if I bought an 8 track or cassette for my car.. that was a "long time" ago !
I was a teenager listening to this on my 8 track in my car, I also had the matchbook under the 8track to stop it from thumping but you youngsters don't know anything about that. Our Generation grew up on the greatest music ever every single Genre.
I just discovered y’all’s channel. The first Boston album which this song comes from has hit after hit after hit on it. This song IS one of the most EPIC rock and roll songs of all time.
I still remember where I was and what I was wearing the day I first heard this song. I was 14 waiting on my dad to come out of the grocery store in the car and THIS came on the radio. I sat straight up in the car seat and turned it up, I knew right away it was a smash hit. Remember, by 1976 we had been exposed to GREAT rock music already, so something new getting attention like that from me was rare. Even by 14 I had been a guitarist for 6yrs. and could identify all the basic chords, as the progression was common. I was overjoyed by both the fact I could play this and it was spectacular.
I remember buying this 8 track Of this great album wore it out and a couple weeks had to go out and buy another one the summer of 1976 what a great great year Lot of great music came out that year Enjoy your show Very much.
Such a neat thing watching people listen to this for the first time. I have been listening to this song since I was 4 years old and my reaction is the exact same as your first time reaction! Such a fantastic song!
Boston's debut album is one of the rarest of the rare albums where there are no clunkers on it. Every song is amazing and every song still gets played in heavy rotation on Classic Rock FM radio stations to this very day. Many of the greatest air-guitar players in history learned their technique from this album!
Boston was on fire in the mid to late 70's, there was nothing like them after their debut album came out. This is a great party song, guys, with a keg of beer and a bonfire.
OMG, it's been awhile since I saw a video by my 2 favorite Wolf Hunterz! (and maybe my 2 favorite UA-cam reactors!) I love the interaction between you two and your personalities really make the videos enjoyable (along with your expert reviews and analysis, of course!). I got this album (their debut album) for Christmas when I was 11 y/o the year it was released (1976...before you say it, yeah, I'm old!) and I played the s**t out of it. Every song on it is great. It was the best selling debut for many years and has sold 17+ million copies. Fun fact...I grew up in Danvers MA, the hometown of the lead singer, Brad Delp (RIP), and my oldest brother graduated high school with him. Brad was a huge Beatles fan (his yearbook quote was "Have you heard the new Beatles album"?) and he had a side band called Beatlejuice which did meticulous covers of Beatles tunes, including using some of the same style instruments. After he passed away in 2007, the Boston website was temporarily converted to just one page that said "We just lost the nicest guy in rock and roll". He had suffered from chronic depression and tragically died from suicide, with a note clipped to his shirt that said in French, "I am a lonely soul". He definitely was one of the greatest vocalists in the history of rock.
You two cats have me rolling over here 😅I just stumbled on to you tonight instantly subscribed, Boston has been a huge part of my childhood , epic song , keep them coming

I’m a fan thanks for your respect to your fans thanks stay in good spirits and best of health happy thanksgiving to y’all I’m thankful for being alive please enjoy for being alive life is a pleasant only come around once there is no second chance I from the old school keeps rolling n keep your feet on the ground stay in good spirits and and best of health happy thanksgiving take care n keep the faith
Thanks!
One of the more under-rated songs of all time. Vocals, Riff, beat.... Brilliant.
The whole album is a masterpiece.
GREAT SONG OFF A FANTASTIC ALBUM. LOVE THIS JAM. GREAT GUITAR WORK. CRANK IT UP LOUD. THIS WHOLE ALBUM KICKS ASS. NOT ONE BAD SONG ON HERE. A SOLID FUCKIN 10
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
The first LP I ever bought. I was in awe of every track.
I didn’t have a subwoofer in my car when I was teenager rockin out to this my car 35+ years ago, but I do now!! And this song still sounds incredible. Glad to see you guys appreciate such an incredible song and band.
The unwritten thing I'd foreplay should last a long time!! 😀
That age was when music was fun. I was blessed to grow up in the 70s for sure.
Definitely one of my favorite albums when it came out..this and van Halen and hair of the dog from Nazareth..but can't forget Ted's first one also..
The 1970s AM and FM radio airwaves were full of amazing music brought to us by an incredible variety of artists and groups ......Boston definitely among them.
We could hardly change the channel without finding a GREAT song
We were spoiled.
Unfortunately on March 9, 2007 Brad Delp passed away. This band was awesome in the 70s
Fond memories of being a teenager when this album came out. Cruising after school in my ‘64 Chevy Impala SS with this in the 8 track player at full volume. Ahhh.
Got to see BOSTON in concert 5 or 6 years ago , incredible show !!!
Boston and Dont Look Back.. Classics
More than a feeling is their first number one hit off this lp, but every single song is a masterpiece. Back then, you worked to make every song on the album listen worthy, so give this whole album a shot
Saw Boston in 1978 at WSU. Sounded as great as album. INCREDIBLE 2 1/2 HOURS OF POWER. We couldn't sleep afterward. ❤✌
My 1st concert was Boston at WSU in 1978. We were drenched afterwards and couldn't sleep... ❤ they killed it. RIP BRAD DELP
9th grader when this came out. After 47 years, I still get goosebumps when I hear Boston. Saw them 3 times and they were one-in-a-million band.
One of THE best classic songs. I still listen to Boston all the time! I’m 58.
My favorite Boston song is Let Me Take You Home Tonight!🎙🎶💋
I was 14 when this came out, I remember it like it was yesterday. It changed the music world forever.
Hard to believe they haven't heard this before. It's over 40 years old. But still a classic.
Boston was wrong about on thing ... I could never "forget about them after they been gone." Great band! Thank for your reactions!
It is INCREDIBLE AND AWESOME watching people in general, and especially YOU kick ass folks , discovering this song
ITS SO DAMN AMAZING
ITS ONE OF THE INCRED THINGS MY DAD INTRODUCED ME TO THAT I WILL FOREVER BE GRATEFUL FOR
"ITS BEEN SUCH A LONG TIME " AND that great Boston guitar / spaceship is a tattoo on my right arm
IM SO VERY PROUD TO HAVE IT
I MISS MY DAD SO DAMN MUCH!!!!!
He's been gone 20 years now
This song brings a part of him back to me EVERY DAMN TIME
THANK YOU FOLKS FOR ROCKING OUT TO THIS GEM
This could be your best reaction yet. Love you guys! Boston is unique, an absolute Unicorn in music.
Can't believe that you've never heard this music before ,,, You have just tasted greatness
One of the best full albums of all time. Just Rock and Roll.
This came out when I was 17and a senior with an 88 oldsmobile and an 8 track in it. Loud and proud!🤟🤟🤪
I remember buying this 8 track Of this great album wore it out and a couple weeks had to go out and buy another one the summer of 1976 what a great great year Lot of great music came out that year Enjoy your show Very much.
I, as a reaction viewing master, hereby decree that you two are THE #1 reactors in the youtube realm.......
Such a neat thing watching people listen to this for the first time. I have been listening to this song since I was 4 years old and my reaction is the exact same as your first time reaction! Such a fantastic song!
I saw them in concert, in San Antonio Tx... years ago...awesome show..
Saw Boston do this tune live ..plus foreplay ofcourse ..I was like 17 or 18 in Memphis Tennessee ..great time of my life ..
Boston - foreplay/long time Rock N Roll gem of legendary music 🤘🔉🔉🔉🔉🔊🔊🔊🔊🎼🎵🎶🎤🎸🎸🎸🎸🥁🪗💀⚡️🔉🔉🔉🔉🔊🔊🔊🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥💨💨💨💨💨💚💚💚
You two cats have me rolling over here 😅I just stumbled on to you tonight instantly subscribed, Boston has been a huge part of my childhood , epic song , keep them coming
We danced to that song every weekend… roller skated to it, cranked it after the football games… no one makes music like that anymore.
Great spot on reaction!! Great song, great band!! The front of the cover is a guitar that looks like a space ship.
I know this is old, but I adore both of you. Your reactions are so enthusiastic and genuine. I've watched this more times than I can count.
Boston's sound is TIMELESS to me
Another great band in this class 38 special. You will love Hold on Loosely
Suzie's look is ALWAYS ON POINT!!! Travis just seems like a great, cool 😎, down to earth 🌎 guy, someone I would definitely be friends with.
Thanks Travis and Suzy. Boston is my all-time favorite band since forever. However, I'm an air-drummer. Love you both.
