Man, for years this series has always been one of those "only in Japan" things. It wasn't given that much of a shot in the west, but now the series is getting regularly localized and I'm really happy to see it.
It even got into xbox gamepass!
@EdibleHerald yea, it would be cool if they made the nintendo switch controller but for the xbox
Well whenever they were, they didn't sell well but were still fun.
Even better is now you actually see them do English localization of the arcade machines now! I have seen a few arcades in my area start to finally have them!
@EdibleHerald at least the game is easy to mod on PC so you can add more song to it
I love how they made the conscious decision to show off MEGALOVANIA as one of the very FIRST things in this trailer
Indeed
They got culture
They also got the narrator to say Megalovania XD
Same
Why do i see you everywhere i go? (Oh yeah, because im obsessed with undertale and deltarune, and you cant help yourself from commenting on even the smallest bit of undertale or deltarune content)
Ofc that's what you comment about
This dude singlehandedly got Japan to simp for Undertale, gotta love it
Having over 500 songs is actually normal for a true Taiko no Tatsujin fan.
Were they always locked behind a paid subscription though?
No, but you can actually manage to unlock A LOT in the arcade versions. Namco's always adding new music. You do need a lot of credits though, so that counts.
@@radicalpaddyo well, you can pay individually a few bucks for each pack instead and end up paying more than three or four years of subscription service will get you ...
@@radicalpaddyo it's usually locked behind having to pay per play in the arcades
The paywall thing is a scam, yall Taiko fanboys are eating it up and will continue to ruin games smh
Any fellow YOASOBI fans here?! Racing Into the Night is in the setlist, let's go! So hyped to play it on Oni mode!
I Love YOASOBI! I saw Gurenge is on there as well. I've never played Taiko before so I'm glad I'm getting to try it now
Yoasobi is fantastic, alongside Ado, Minami, Fuji Kaze, and Yorushika, would recommend any of these artists if you've never listened to them before!
Racing Into the Night on Oni mode is a lot of fun
What genre is YOASOBI?
@@fernandozavaletabustos205 J-Pop
I've never played these games, but it looks so fun.
Maybe it's about time to finally jump in.
They are incredibly good, I bet you'll have a great time if you like rhytmn games
I’ve never played taiko no tatsujin before either! Im gonna jump into it too!
You should look up someone playing the arcade version. It has giant drums as the controls. It's really cool.
I've never played taiko but I'm probably gonna get this game it looks really fun
Do it.
The Taiko no Tatsujin games are my latest obsession.
I love how lots of Nintendo fans when they saw this in the direct were like “huuuh what’s this” but us taiko fans were like YOOOO NEW TAIKO NO TATSUJIN??!??!
So true I was very excited when I saw this on the direct
and us rhythm heaven fans are sitting here disappointed as always
@@CinnaBox F
I’d like to see a rhythm heaven on the switch too, I had the DS version and it was so fun
I am absolutely floored that this series is getting the recognition that it is. It's been one of those hidden gems kind of games for years and now it's got 3 games on the switch and one on ps4 and Xbox. I'm excited for this one.
I really hope they include Tank! from Cowboy Bebop with the subscription
Good news (11 months later.)
@@coreylineberry8557 I have it along with the pass. I play tank every time.😆
I cannot believe there is a game where Megalovania and Feel Special are both in the soundtrack.
Undertale is very popular in japan so it explains it all
Best timeline
Megalovania was already in the DLC packs for Taiko on Switch. It's just called Taiko no Tatsujin: Nintendo Switch version
Not only that, but megalovania was THE FIRST SONG they specifically said was in the game. They’re proud to have it
YOU MAKE ME FEEL SPECIAL
*dun dun dudun*
I hope there will be a bundle with a physical drum available😱
It’s hard to get a reasonable priced drum accessory here in Europe…😭😅
Same ! That will actually persuade me to buy the game
@@foster4241 The thing is, I recently discovered this game. And I was reminded of Donkey Conga and I loved this Game. I even asked Bandai Namco if there is a possibility they will release it again 🤣
@@chrischros3192 I got donkey conga vibes the whole time watching this. I very played this series before tho but the amount of tracks (plus the subscription for more) is a crazy amount. Most likely a 3rd party drum set will eventually come out or be compatible for this game
You can always go for… um… the Taiko Force 4.
Yeah , haven’t seen one set under £100 here in the U.K.
Replaying separate sections is something I've been wanting since ps2 taiko era
Thank you Namco for giving us a new Taiko title AND bringing Klonoa back 😭💕
I am so overjoyed to see Klonoa again 💖
@@LexxiKitty me sorprende que Klonoa aparezca otra vez
klonoa had songs in one of the ps2 taiko games, do you think they will bring back his songs
Taiko has been one of my comfort games for a few years now, I'm excited for this!
Everyone else: Wow, Megalovania is here!
Me: Wow, Racing into The Night and Marigold is here!
I already have the Undertale DLC from the last game anyways.
Same for me but with Gurenge and KAKAIKITAN.
Both of those are DLC for the Taiko game already on Switch. So is megalovania. Could Namco really not afford songs less than 2 years old?
YOASOBI's on the PC version, too. But since this gives you access to an arcade-sized setlist, may as well just go for it. I have Taiko through the Xbox Game Pass, so that's one sub I pay for; may as well pay for Rhythm Festival + its sub service, too.
I might have a drumming problem...
@@Alfredo-oh8xb Yeah let's hope there's a bunch of good song's in the subscription service then.
Absolutely loving the reach Toby has over the internet and games industry.
No one can escape the funny bone man.
gotta love the memes of this direct:
-car kirby
-coconut malled by a mario kart trailer
-the emphasis on megalovania
And Luigi's Death Stare.
So glad this series is still goomg strong. We already had all these songs for the og on Switch with the DLC packs :P I know I've already bought quite a few and had an extremely wonderful time with the game already. Even got the drum accessory I loved it so much
literally my fav rhythm games ❤️
I love this series, please keep localizing them!!!
I’ve played this, and I’ve literally got nothing bad to say about it. It is a perfect game. It’s like Just Dance, except you don’t get tired after 20 seconds.
i literally had the hori drum i got imported from japan arrive a few hours after the direct. really really good timing!
they have megalovania
As ecstatic as I am that we're getting another Taiko game, I can't wait for them to announce the exact release date instead of just "available this year".
Yes please… I need more taiko in my life
They did recently, it’s September 23rd in the US and October 14th in Europe and Australia.
I got a release date of Oct. 7, 22 for America.
Always was interested in playing one of these games. If it gets a physical release, definitely will be picking this one up. Especially with them leading with Megolavania when listing the songs
Drum 'n Fun has Undertale DLC, which includes Megalovania, Heartache, and Hopes and Dreams. It's paid DLC, so if you want it now, buy D 'n F and throw out the extra 4 bucks or something. or wait until Rhythm Festival is out, do the subscription, and have fun.
Megolavania is actually available to play already on the previous game Drum'n'fun as paid dlc
@@nyankosensei5528 Already told them this a month ago, my guy.
Game Publishers: How many times do you want MEGALOVANIA in our games being added?
Toby Fox: Yes!
I burst out laughing when MEGALOVANIA played
Ikr. And gurrenge too?!
I can’t believe they put ness’s theme song in the game, that’s so hype
Megalovania was already out on their first Nintendo switch game as a DLC song. At least it’s finally in a base game 🥳
It's funny they used THAT song for the advert... They knew.
@@Rainbowforce5 if you go look at any new-gen taiko game + arcade cabinet you'll know how much bandai namco shills on popular songs (they plaster gurenge/megalovania/racing into the night etc) a lot on screen to reel people who have no idea what this game is about to play the game (since taiko was primarily locked to japan, now it's blown up in popularity to the west to a point where they localized two japan-only RPG taiko games to english)
seriously my favourite rhythm game ever
I really hope the add the entire 2000's series in the subscription service. Nearly all of those songs are bangers and it would be awesome to have em' all on one system. Songs like Kechadon 2000, Koibumi 2000, Yokuderu 2000, etc. Are songs that haven't had many home console or handheld releases, so they definitely need to make a return.
Me too ^^ I'd love Donkama 2000, I've only played on DS/3DS and PSP and never had an occassion to play it...
Yoooo so hyped! Happy to have a practice mode!!!
I cant wait for this! Such a great rhythm game😁😁❤️
so wait Twice Feel special and moonlight? i need this game now
nah different moonlight no shot they put in a b-side over a title track from the same album
The PC Taiko game JUST came out, and this is murdering it. Man
Got to agree with you...
The new modes are rather nice, but depending on the Subscription Price, I think both the PC (Drum Master) and the previous 2 Taiko on Switch (Drum N' Fun and Rhytmic Adventure Deluxe) beat this version High and Mightly!
Adding the Sub Content as a part of the Expansion Pak (NSO+) would give the weight to balance things.
You can have an additional 1000 songs on PC with mods
@@LoboRaptorLo so youre not agreeing with him at all? Cause he said this one is better
@@Typisch0705 Oh, I guess not then! Thanks for pointing me! xD
I hecking love this series glad we're finally getting a song subscription instead of having to pay for ever single song ngl with 500 songs this might be one of the best
Why? You don’t even keep the songs. You have to keep paying for one game
@@ironjerm I mean, it is originally an arcade game.
And a credit is 100¥ which roughly coverts to a dollar
You're paying for a subscription which is 10 dollars at most. So you're actually getting a bargain
@@Puffle573 I dunno, man. When it comes to subscriptions, the game has to live its longest to be reasonable. For Taiko, it may be big, especially in Japan, but elsewhere, it’s not and tends to be obscured by gamers focusing on other massive titles like COD, Elden Ring, Horizon, etc., so, Namco’s taking a dangerous gamble for making the other songs subscription only. Once the game is no longer supported, likely in a few years, the songs will be gone into mist. This is gonna affect Namco’s consumer unless they make those songs non-subscription before shutting down Taiko’s servers. And BTW, if I’m gonna pay for subscription, at least I should get the game for free.
@@sonicexereaper6814 You actually kinda have a point there. Like you say, if they stop supporting Taiko Rhythm Festival then yeah the songs won't exist anymore, unless of course, they make em' available for purchase just like how they did with Drum n' Fun and PS4 dlc.
On the other hand I don't agree with your other statement about the game. If this game is anything like Drum n' Fun, then they'll most likely put it up for sale. The game is normally like 50 or 60 dollars but it's always on sale for 9 or 10, which will definitely make up for the cost of the subscription service. I feel like instead of an in-game service they should just use the Nintendo Online service and make it a requirement in order to play the songs.
Me when this was announced: Well, not bad...
Me now that I got into this series recently: OMG this is so cool!!
I remember seeing machines that play this at arcades, cant wait to play it!
Sans
Sans
Nah, this version is not the same, lack a lot of arcade features like ranks, modes and obviously songs. 76 songs is not even a 5% of all arcade songs lol

I'm so excited for this!!!
I have the physical drum accesory so I'll probably be getting this :D
I use the dk bongos or the band hero wii drum set to play Taiko
@@Vvccshhshzhjsjsjahdhd I pre-ordered the Drum 'n Fun bundle which came with the game and the drum, I think you can buy the drum seperately as well now
I do too!
Is a drum accessory a requirement for this game?
@@MissMultiConsole no. there are button, touch screen, and motion controls. i can’t recommend using the motion controls at all though, they’re so wack lol
This must be the reason there haven't been anymore updates for Drum N' Fun
drum n fun definitely has no support anymore lol but it had a good run, has plenty of dlc songs
@@iluVioletLink Yeah I know. I figured it was either because of Drum Master or a new game coming to the Switch. Still a little disappointing though
So excited. I love this series so much, been playing for years and very glad more english speakers are getting the chance to experience it.
Niiice, hyped to buy all the tracks second time.
I remember playing this in arcades
Me too I played the arcade ones when I was younger
I have lots of the songs from drum n fun as well as both rpg games but I still want this!
I’m so ready for this :)
I'm only really interested in this if they rerelease the physical drum accessory. I've been trying to no avail to find one for the previous Taiko games on the Switch, but people are charging stupidly high prices for them online. It's like amiibo hunting all over again.
As soon as the screen mentioned kakai Kitan, gurenge, and racing into the night, I was sold
Ok but whats the song towards the end that goes "all night loooong~" it sounds so good and its been stuck in my mind
(Commenting for a notification if anyone knows it)
It might be this game's theme song? The "Hey!"s sound very Taiko-y to me

HOW HAS NO ONE FOUND IT YET???!

I WANT IT, I NEED IT IN MY WHOLE LIFE
THIS IS THE GAME I'M DEFINITELY GETTING

Looks even better than the original. Great stuff with so much more to do!
I had high hopes it'd look better than the 2001 version, glad they pulled it off!

I think some people are down on the Paid subscription, but you'll probably just be able to pay for a month at a time. I'd be so down to have a month at home with an arcade-style song list
The Megalovania reveal was easily the peak of the Direct. This is my male fantasy.
This was a shocker. Getting!
I hope Penny's Song from WarioWare: Get It Together! be available in this game.
