Yes, it is absolutely true. You need to audition as much as you possibility can. You can't expect to book work if you're not actually going out and trying to book work veraciously. The one thing that frustrates me about the whole "you're not auditioning enough" thing though is I never hear people talk about how that grind mindset can also backfire on you or how it's not as helpful in certain fields. If I'm auditioning for commercial ads, sure I can probably get like 10 to 20 auditions sent out per day if I try hard enough but for stuff like video games or animation - where I keep hearing time and again from casting directors about how the vast majority of auditions sound rushed, uninformed, or shallow... I think taking those extra minutes or tens of minutes I need to really understand and breakdown everything not only makes my audition better and leaves me feeling more confident in myself but also leaves a better impression and is a more reasonable expectation. At most, I might get 3 character auditions (with multiple characters) done in a day. I just do not have the stamina or brain power to do fast-food style auditions for those kinds of things. When I have tried, my auditions just end up sounding generic and never stand out, I get depressed that not only am I not booking but I also don't care for what I just turned in, and I'm beating myself up for not hitting a quota. Again, yes for sure audition for as much as you can and go looking for work wherever you can - in any and all fields. All I'm saying is you need to apply it strategically and pick your battles. Some auditions are easier to get done quickly than others and you shouldn't beat yourself up if you're doing as much as you possibly can without hurting yourself in any way. I think it's good to remind people they need to get out and audition, I just wish we highlighted setting realistic expectations for ourselves more.
I’ve been on an agency’s roster for like eight months and I haven’t booked. I’m doing too many. Flying out to meet with my agent on the LA side to get some clarity.
I've been watching your videos for about a year, Joe. This one made me subscribe. Thanks so much for the blunt advice and encouragement. Very much appreciated.
I love all this advice... I wish I could take your classes... i really do... but my irl situation won't allow it... So I hope one day in the future I'll be able to. For now, these videos can and will do. thank you Mr. Zieja. Fear the Deer!
Seeing that booking is on average 5% makes me feel so much better. I was starting to get discouraged after getting dismissed so many times and I'm glad to know that I'm slightly above average. Now I'll start pushing a little bit more when it comes to auditions.
Politics are inevitable for most people. However, if you keep your views APART from your work, then you shouldn’t get fired from jobs because of your views. I think the best solution would be for actors to make separate social accounts for their work lives and personal lives.
I’m already a member of voice acting academy and I can say it’s the real deal, it goes through and really does my out whether you need to know to start and allows enough flexibility in the knowledge it gives you so you can format the information to your specific situation.
I hate the 1% rule, define for me a 1% improvement? Go on, I’ll wait… it’s hard to do without feeling a burnout. And is all subjective to individuals, with different base growths and stat modifiers. Some people will go from zero to hero and others will be unfortunately benched.

I love how every time I complete a lesson in the Voice Acting Academy, you release a video about the exact topic I just learned about 😂
Are you suggesting that there's no point in paying for his program?

How do you find these gigs to audition for?
Also, in today's political climate, it may be a good idea to keep political comments off any social media!
