- Here's an amazing itinerary in Japan that combines the sights and sounds of Tokyo and the astounding nature of some highlights in Central Japan:
-- The #Nakasendo hike between #Magome and #Tsumago in #KisoValley;
- #Takayama with a daytrip to #Shirakawago;
- and then up in the mountains and the onsen towns in #ShinhotakaRopeway and #HirayuOnsen!
And of course, the usual suspects in #Tokyo: #Shinjuku and #Shibuya, plus visits in #Akasaka, #Asakusa, an exhibit in #RoppongiHills and the #JapanNationalStadiumTour which was a chance to check out the Tokyo 2020 #Olympics main venue.
We made this trip in early December, so we hope that this will give you some ideas for some late autumn and early winter #travel in #Japan!
There are dedicated and longer videos on the destinations on this trip. Please check out the playlist for the eleven videos we have there:

Great insight into travel in Central Japan, even if the cost effectiveness of JR Travel passes have changed so radically since March 2024.
Did you have any problems with the size of your baggage on the Shinkansen? I understand that a bag bigger than 160cm in total dimensions causes a lot of heartache.
Oh, and what was experience with the laundromat like? I'm big on using a laundromat every few days when travelling. I like to keep my luggage light but the contents clean
Thank you! for showing how to get from place to place exactly

Thank you! 🙏
Very informative!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Travjournal! We'll be going there around the last week of November, is there a chance of snow in the ShinHotaka ropeway area? Thanks!
Hello, thank you for watching! It’s hard to predict the weather this early, especially snow, but since it’s the mountains, it is always possible! However, if you’re missing out the snow, perhaps the red leaves autumn will make a great scenery!
@@travjournal I see, yeah that’s what I thought, I’ll just check in the weather forecast on November, thank you very much for answering!
Nice video.
What month & wk were you in Shirakawa go?
We'll be there 3rd wk of Dec, hope to experience snow by then. TIA
Hi! We were there first week of December. Somehow it’s hard to tell with the weather these days but snow in Shirakawago would be gorgeous!
Thanks!
is it fine to do the shinhotaka ropeway as a day trip from takayama or it would be too tiring?
Hi, thanks for watching! Yes, a daytrip to Shinhotaka Ropeway from Takayama is very doable! I suggest leaving Takayama early and enjoy the facilities of the ropeway and the stations until the afternoon. But if you’re into onsens and ryokan stays, Hirayu and the Shinhotaka area are great options for an overnight.
Hi want to ask at the Nagoya Station getting off from Shinkansen to Hida Express lane takes how long for us to walk? As I am buying tickets from KLOOK arriving Nagoya at 14.25, want to take Hida straight to Takayama at 14.48? Thanks
Hi! It’s pretty much the same station, as far as I remember it’s just a change in the tracks since they are both JR trains in the same station. Just take note which platform and if you will need to exit and enter a different ticket counter. But it shouldn’t take long as long as you head straight to the Hida train platform.
@@travjournal thank you
Hi sis, may I ask you bought the bus ticket to Shiragawago dan Shinhotaka ropeway, are they 2 ways back to Takayama station again? How about the returning time we can choose? And the tiket to the ropeway where to buy? Thanks
Hi! Yes you can buy the tickets to Shirakawago two-way. You need to book the bus schedule though especially going there. But I think going back to Takayama you can hop on the bus but there is a queue; do check schedules. As for tickets to Shinhotaka Ropeway, you can buy them right there. Just make sure to mention that you’re buying tickets for two ropeways, roundtrip or two-way. Have fun with your travels!
@@travjournal thank you so much.
@@travjournal hi, can we buy early in the morning for the same day trip?
