I’m a DIYer and did my own garage roof in GRP a few years ago, was easy enough and been perfect since. There are lots of places where corners could be cut, follow the instructions to the letter and you get good results.
@@kiteless1 thanks a lot! Very kind of you to reply me back! I am not a good DIYer, can you pls share some more details on how and which kit I should order.
Very generous with the resin. If you buy their estimate for i.e. 20sqm, make sure you double the quantity based on the thorough guidance this gives you....
if you get a fibreglass flat roof installed get this firm to do it .or another good roofing firm a lot people who do these roofs look at a video like this 15 mins long and just slap the fibreglass down . no reinforcing joints ,no fluffy edges no gadget to see the temperature i know i rip a lot of these up were there not done well .
As a roofer I have come across so many leaky fibreglass roof systems. I just don’t trust them and never recommend anyone to have them installed. Much prefer single ply, rubber or resitrix

I have a fibreglass roof which needs repair. I had a leak last year and got someone who did a fibreglass paint which fixed the issue, but need to fix it properly. Do you have any video which can help with the repair.
The product is probably good, but make sure you get a FLAT roofing contractor to do the roof. I’ve put loads of fibre glass roofs in the skip, mainly due to the installer not using enough material and don’t have a clue how to do detail work.
I don't like it i prefer a more flexible approach as the timber is always moving.. i used that lava 20 i thought it was an excellent job and easy to use.. and doesn't stink the place out..
Hi all I've bought all the equipment to start my fiberglass roof on my garage . I've bought 18mm osb3 . My only trouble is there doesn't seem to be a rough side both sides seem very smooth? Should I sand it or try and return it thanks in advance
@@hewoguys2506 my apologies yes you can use 8x4x18mm OSB but mate sure it’s the correct grade their are many different grades when purchasing ask the tell the person behind the counter what’s your using it for
Very true @GrpLiningservices you are correct, i dont do alot of filming like you and it was a slip of the tongue thanks for pointing that bit out it will be helpful to everyone watching.

can it be used on top of existing fibreglass roof to have a patch of repair?
@@12mukesh30 possible but you need to rough up and thoroughly clean around the repair before fibreglassing and underneath needs to be dry.

great video very informative 😃😃👍👍
I do believe you need to strengthen the joint first then place matt and resin, and I add masking tape to prevent from leaking of resin
That was nice thanks for the demo! 😊

A customer of mine had a fibreglass roof done which indeed leaked. 3 times they came out to try and fix it.
The problem is with a lot of the older GRP no flexibility we’re this has and bad installation is the main reason all the best Tony 👍
only reason fibre glass leaks is poor installation

If it's so important to leave a 3mm gap between boards, what prevents the resin from filling the gap?
the matting
I doubt it. Unless the resin is used very sparingly...
He should use first masking tape to prevent resin leak down, then some tape to strengthen the join like drywall tape and then matt+resin
He is using OSB3 therefore I imagine the resin cant pass through the joint

Could I just add the bourds I've bought are kronospan ?
Can I use this system to add an additional layer to an existing GRP roof?
No but if you ask their Tec team their might be a possibility
do you have to use tng can you use normal osb boards
Yes mate

Styrene breaking down the resin? You joking? The resin breaks the binder down that holds the glass strands together.
Correct.
