Truth is, Sal tried way more than Mal. And plus, Mallory wasn't feeling him. You can tell in her face when he sang and did certain things for her. She wasn't feeling him and he sensed it. He's a great guy, her loss.

Mallory didn't love him. She loved how he treated her and how he made her feel but her eyes were empty. She was saying love as a substitute for the word care. She cared about him. She did not love him. She most definitely was not in love with him. Even when she talked about it she always seemed disconnected. No people have made comments about him trying to get a music deal blah blah blah. I don't care. Mallory's family not being supportive also was a strain on her.
Exactly, when they had that argument mid season about Jarret and she flipped it on him from there on you knew she had little to no respect for him. He really saved himself because she would have cheated on him down the line .

Mal didn’t even find him attractive when they first met and then she kept being uncomfortable around him and kept leading him on.. actually a lot of them kept leading most of the couples on so they can stay longer on the show in my opinion.

Idk why shes copping alot of flack for her reaction at reveal time. Mal showed an authentic reaction that would happen for alot of us that hasnt been shown on the show yet - the awkward person whos like "omg wtf am i doing" and just doesnt run into the other persons arms because in reality the experiment is fucking bizarre. It honestly made me think are the super over the top reveals by other contestants just put on for the tv??
Yeah he said he didn't like her either...He said twice..that He was concerned when he first saw her...So he was saying the same thing..about her..but he pretended to be all in...and he never was....He just didn't say it to her face..and How he said to to the cameras was not straight forward ..but I got what he meant.
That was the only thing I agree with Shake on. This did play a factor with a few of them, him included obviously...
Mallory wanted an athletic man who would wine and dine her and treat her like a star. She acted like Sal was not in her league because he wasn’t physically buff and tall or financially well off like she is. Her pride was what made Sal say no. As time went on she realized she may never find a guy like Sal but by the time she fell in love the damage of her attitude, lack of interest and the conversation between her and Jarette had already given Sal his answer to say no. I still don’t trust his overly affectionate behaviour on the show but in all he made the right decision in my opinion. Because he deserves someone who will feel the same way about him from the beginning.

I was pleasantly surprised he said no because he showed he recognized his worth. he was trying really hard to please her and he kept letting her gaslight him so i thought he would keep that position and still want to win her over. Im glad he said no

@@suras8984 That wasn't Sal's fault. Sal was apologetic and he always explains himself and shows sorrow. Mallory bit his head off and acted like she was heartbroken. Mallory did NOT love nor did she respect him at all once she saw him physically. Sal was the perfect guy. He never lied or did anything to intentionally hurt Mallory. Mallory knew she made a mistake the second she saw Sal. You could see it in her eyes. Even during her conversation with Jarette, you could see that he was more the kind of dude she wanted.
Sal is laid back and very chill. He's a normal, simple man who wants to dedicate everything to his Queen... Mallory said she wants the opposite. She wants her ass slapped and to be called a bad bitch. She wants to eat hot dogs and go to games. Do you think Sal is the kind of man to do this? No. Sal and Iyanna would've worked tons more, and Jarette and Mallory should've gotten together.
The two of them seem very mellow! What arguments are they talking about - the silent treatment? I keep trying to picture them shouting 'cabeza pinga' back and forth and I just keep picturing a ukulele. 😭

The whole time I didn’t really trust Mallory. It seem like she wanted Jarrette. Also the last convo she had with Jarrette was kind of shady. If Sal actually heard what was said, he probably would not have wasted that much time with her. She wasn’t even attracted to him to begin with.
I agree she seemed to act so flirty and bubbly with jar and vary distant with sal. He deserves better.

The fact that so many ppl couldn’t see that Mallory wasn’t a fit for Sal is a true reveal of how off our society is with dating… she was never honest since the reveal. Nicole and Sal should be. Mallory has some hidden things that she needs to be honest about.. she hasn’t confronted herself yet.

@@beea.9435 I don’t mind conversing at all. The biggest moment that stood out is when Mallory deflected/ lied to him about her “why” for entertaining Jared’s conversation. For what seemed as a defense mech, she told Sal she did what she did because she was worried the he wasn’t into her. Either there was some major editing done or she simply lied. But here’s the kicker.. i believe she tried to convince herself of this. Hence me saying I think she struggles with self honestly too. Also the whole exchange while in Mexico. Shid, let’s take it back to when they first saw each other at the reveal. Sal was not masculine enough for her. Adversely, I think right after the reveal she was able to assess that Sal was the case of getting what you need but not all that you want. I called this from the jump though and much like this therapist is saying.. instead of living in surface terms like gender, I believe Mal’s issues were more about emotional intelligence and a willingness to be uncomfortable. Mallory definitely wants a guy’s guy who has decided to finally do enough to keep a woman around. In street terms.. Sal’s nose/ heart was just too open lol. He was super into her and she was not that into him… and she kept trying to find an out. However, because Sal was ready.. not perfect but ready to do the work.. it made it hard for her to end it.

That said, I do agree with you that Sal perhaps wasn't Mallory's kind of guy and I personally got that feeling from her reaction based on his line of profession. Is more like... Oops! Not exactly checking off that box, but he checks off others boxes... 98% is still good for me... That was how I read it 😊
And I also feel people are open to try something different from what they're used too as well. I felt at the end of the day, she did love him but wasn't in love because she seemed to have taking his response very calmly... I think she felt, this is a good decent guy and he loves me thus I'm willing to make it work because I feel we can build a good future and home together.
However... I felt Sal played the cameras, cos he was all so romantic, sweet and all. Even though thinking about it now, it's a good thing he said NO, but honestly I didn't it see it coming 😂😂😂. I think he SHOULD have been honest to himself too from the get go. The saying "Too good to be real"... That's Sal... He proved that saying to be true.

Mallory doesn't really want to talk and it's pretty obvious why. She never loved him. I don't think she's a bad person I just think she should have been honest. She never was. Sal' s personality doesn't mesh with hers. I will never understand why she said yes to him.

Sal isn't innocent. there is a lot that happened offline that they didn't show us. And i had the sense that there was something off about they way they interacted. Truth is, they weren't a good fit

I was shocked he said no because he seemed very into her. If anyone was going to say no, I thought it would be Mal - throughout the show her body language was more like 50-50, unsure, needed convincing, etc. But I was so relieved nonetheless. Mal seems like a good person and friend, but he deserved better.
It annoys me that Mal’s bad behavior is being breezed over🙄 She did several pretty slimey things to flip and tumble narratives onto Sal (e.g., the ring convo…the ex showing up to his sisters’ place). She enjoys being put on a pedestal by a man like Sal, yet she’s attracted to (and feels she “deserves”) that typical tall swaggy, surface-level charming athletic dude (I don’t find jarrett super attractive and I think he’s kinda lame and childish, but y’all know how women like Mal and Shaina see dudes like him🙃).

Someone said in the comments the producers asked him to sing multiple times.
Obviously you haven't being in a long relationship where you try to make things better but at the end it just doesn't work. I was in a similar situation, I said no days before my engagement, the guy had already bought the ring. We tried, it was hard but I had to stop the relationship because deep inside I knew he wasn't for me. That same day I was talking with him about kids and the future, but then he made a comment and I knew.... and that afternoon I broke up with him.
Also, don't forget that this is a show, they give you the wedding of your dreams to make it legit in case both say yes. They can't just say "stop the music, I will say no", it would spoil the episode.
I've been in shows before and you can't believe all he fakeness around the final result.
Sal's answer was sweet in my opinion and very brave.

I honestly think she dodged a bullet on that one. He seemed more into himself and how romantic he was with all of those gestures. It was more for show for his own ego in my opinion. Mallory was also not being honest enough with herself and didn't show that she was really that into him. I believe part of her was cringing when he would sing.
It may come across as for the ego to those not aware of our Hispanic culture. In our culture the way to propose to a woman is through serenading and singing wether you want to court them or ask for their hand this is the norm. To me this was just a cultural tradition
I disagree, you're reading into it too much, I feel like his singing was super corny, but he seemed like a well rounded person. Mallory wasn't that into him when she saw him in person at first, but then he grew on her.

I knew then that they wouldn't date after the show. Sad thing was she really was in love in the end but the anger had been a slow internal boil for him and he made sure to be asked the question first so he could say no. He wasn't my favorite.
He definitely held a grudge. I saw the same as you described. I don't see him as a victim like everyone else does. I also wondered about his relationship with that random woman who showed up to his apartment that his sister's knew.

Idk why but I’ve always gotten covert f*ckboy vibes from Sal, and that he was only on this show to try and promote a music career. During the reunion he was SO adamant about not going into details of their fight but was quick to blameshift it on Mallory saying he “didn’t feel heard” it wasn’t until Shake chimed in that we learn he was talking about the fight over his previous “girlfriend”. If you have nothing to hide and are not to blame, you would use this opportunity to clear the air, the fact that he was so determined to have the issue not come up was a major red flag. I think he played both Mallory and the other girl he was dating.
I’m right there with ya! Also, someone who has only learned to cook *one special dish/meal* (and clearly took the time to learn how to do so skillfully) gives me vibes of someone who has a go-to move and uses it often… 🤨

he was speaking some truth at the reunion and exposed people and made them feel uncomfortable so they banned together and attacked him. He was right that people were being fake as fuck, working the system to stay on the show etc. He still got issues though

Lol "what mal saw in him"? He is clearly a decent man and it was explained in his IG live with his sister that he wasn't in fact still dating her, and had explained to her that he'd be going on the show when they started talking.

I'm honestly not seeing where Mallory wasn't "into" Sal. She chose Sal from the very beginning. Sad no to Jarette because she had a very emotional connection with Sal that was deeper than her and Jarettes. Yes she was a bit awkward when she first saw Sal but who wouldn't be??? This is real life not a damn movie!!! Mallory was truly into Sal especially after getting past seeing Jarette for the first time and that whole thing. People have to keep in mind that these people have only known one another for ALMOST two weeks by the time they see everyone else they dated in the pods. That's a huge adjustment, especially when you picked your partner blind and your natural instinct is to go another way. Everyone needs to give these people more credit, Shake included. Mallory followed her heart with Sal and by the end she was truly all in and deeply in love with him and ready to say yes. Sal just honestly let that conversation between Jarrette and Mallory ruin it all. . . Wish they at least would have seriously dated afterwards, they had such great potential.

Yeah coz if u rewatch their wedding they were both crying when she was walking down the aisle and throughout the vows etc. And the fact that they just had a short coffee date after all that? Just seems so unbelievable to me. Seems like a case of okay lets just do the experiment and put on a show, and they ended up just being colleagues in the end.
Some people just aren't compatible and there really isn't much that can be done about that. Mallory not being physically attracted to Sal didn't help matters much. Go back and watch when they first saw each other in person and her initial reaction (Lasts for maybe one second). Her face is more like "Oh.." Then "OH!" lol
I think sal is a true villain …. I believed after sal felt embarrassed in Mexico with the jarrette incident but wanted to kinda embarrass her back in a way. When he met mal sister he was saying all the right things like “she doesn’t have to have my name” and “if her sister doesn’t approve we can still get married “ but yet one of his “reasons” was that he didn’t know a lot of her family.

Yeah Sal was shady esp when he serenades her again and again... but when he cried during the flirty talk incident of Mal and Jarette, I felt sad for him
First, it is a show. The producers know for sure the answers before to be prepared. They have to give you the whole perfect wedding in order to look legit and avoid spoilers. It wouldn't be the same otherwise...
Second, marriage is a big step and I was sure Mal was going to be the one saying no. I was glad they didn't get married because the relationship was a: trying to fall in love, trying to forget the huge act of disrespect, trying to forget she was doubtful, trying to see the romantic and sweet part of him and stop comparing previous relationships... It was a mess.
If he had had a plan, he wouldn't have cried and said sorry. The one who was really looking for revenge was Nathalie.

i think it was very evident how in the pods Mallory was talking about how important her family is but then proceeded never to introduce Sal to her parents and they didn't even turn up at the wedding, only her frosty sister
Sal didn't trust Mal and he shouldn't have. When another guy approaches you with an inappropriate conversation walk away. If she was truly there for the right reasons she would have got out of her seat and walked over to her man.

Mallory was not authentic in her relationship with Sal. It all seemed fake to me on her part.
I was surprised that HE said no. I think it was clear to everyone that Mallory wasn’t as invested as Sal, but Sal seemed blind to that fact. Either that or he was so in love with Mallory that he didn’t care about the one-sidedness.

He’s very sensitive and insecure. He was nice but not all that. I don’t care for him or how he handled things in the end. I think she’ll be just fine without him….

I’m shocked at the comment section right now! Lol, I actually felt that Sal led her on. I absolutely think Mallory wanted to say yes if he said yes. Because although initially we all know sal wasn’t her usual type she saw that he was different and sometimes us women when we try something and someone different that might be what we need instead of what we want, if you give it a try you can end up falling for that too.

I totally agree with you. In my opinion, Mallory was very attracted to him emotionnally and chose him as her first choice. She said no to Jarette, so I can't quite understand why people say she settled for Sal as a second choice. I believe her when she said that seeing him was hard and awkward because he is not her "type", but I truly feel that she fell for him over the weeks and really wanted to spend her life with him. She was not a bit hesitant when answering her sister's questions the day of the wedding and seemed truly genuine. She was shocked he said no and quite frankly you would not?! Saying he needed to see her to know his choice?! Really...what difference would it make? I feel he wanted to "punish" her a bit and led her on a bit. Also the fact she was willing to continue their relationship and he kept rejecting her over and over again was hard to watch and does not reflect love in my opinion. Both are great people and both are to blame, but Mal did love him in the end. Also, his reaction towards her at the reunion is too much...he did not let her speak and blamed her for everything. She appeared to be fragile and hurt and he appeared to be cold.

I don't know what happened behind the scenes and it sucks that Netflix missed showing those parts. yes, it did look like Mallory was not into him as much as he was trying, but at the end of the day, she looked taken aback by his decision and continued to look sad... as though in spite of it all, she did want to get married to him.

Sal was corny from day one. I don't understand how so many people here are saying she didn't deserve him. She's a strong established woman and she was trying to go out of her comfort zone, and try her chance with someone she normally wouldn't have in the real world.
Because there is more to life than being established when it comes to marrying someone and being a partner. Finances are important but you need so much more. Also I think she (and Jarrett) got a bad rap after her chat/flirting that night and how she handled it afterwards. Her apology in the reunion spoke volumes when she said “I apologise IF I hurt you”… needs to work on herself genuinely (as we all do).
Then she was on the wrong show . Should have been on the bachelorette or something. The show is about connections formed deeper than finances or any of the obvious worldly characteristics we would normally pick.
Mallory and Sal weren't a good fit. He didn't like being second fiddle(ukelele) to her bc he was jealous that she was more successful than him outside of the show.
