In 2003 when I was in college in Nigeria, I use to ride inside the wave of this song. Fast froward 2017 in Los Angeles, I met a close friend of Seal who was crazy enough to FaceTime him in my presence just to let him know he was hanging out with a fellow Nigerian. The moment I see Seal on the screen I burst out singing this song back to him in excitement. He noticed I was struggling with it and playfully tells me not to "hurt myself' trying to hit those notes. The song sounds and makes me feel the same way every time I hear it!
Funny enough, I've never heard of this track until today and I'm a Nigerian!

2021 January I lost my eldest brother,July I lost another older brother of mine,and in September I lost my father who was left hollow at the loss of his 2 sons.
It was a tough year for my family,I was angry at God,but not anymore.
Its 2023 November and I'm listening to Seal,I lost "cedars" in my life but God is still with us.
And we keep holding on to his promises.

I remember when this song was huge. I thought it was just maudlin. But man this song is really powerful and great. A hard life can make you a cynic but Love's Divine can warm your heart.
