    The reason the commercial 73s don't have raked wingtips is because it would put the dimensions out of the standard 36m gate box. For a given weight they should perform better than winglets.

      Correct, I mentioned that in the winglets video

    More excellent content, as always. Thank you for producing these.
    I did get a chuckle out of your "yolk switch" reference.

    I want to thank you very much for you channel, videos and your website. I all found them highly informative, which give a good overview of this magnificent piece of engineering, the Boeing 737. Many thanks and I am looking forward to all your new content.

    Maybe this was uploaded while yhe P8 was in its infancy but we dont have a MAD drone. That would be cool but i have about 1200 hours on the platform and ive never geard of it till now. MAC does a great job with large area searches, mostly all classified but I can say it works outside of littoral waters just fine as well. Love the video !

    Nice overview of this bird.
    I would have liked to know a bit about the wetware support systems (heads, galley, crew rest bunks if any, meal stores etc). If the crew isn’t tip top the best hardware won’t function optimally.

    • @engineernels1057
      @engineernels1057 5 місяців тому

      1 galley and head in the front. No crew rest bunks. Galley has a stove same as a commercial and a small fridge. There are two first class style seats in the front for crew rest for the pilots.

    I believe whether they state it or not is the multiple DMEs are apart of link 16. If they are creating a wider bubble in strategic and tactical ingress that defensive packages and offensives packages would be used in hive mode link 16. Creating a bubble of safety with multiple aircraft meaning more than one. It's just a thought?

      An interesting theory, that is entirely possible but beyond my knowledge. Thanks for your input.

      DME is L-band, just like regular ATC transponders. Military equipment on L-band that normally use similar (or even the same part number) antennas are IFF, TACAN and TDL (Tactical Data Links) such as L16.

    The EP-3E Aries is NOT a maritime AWACS aircraft ( like E-3 or E-7) , but rather it is more similar to RC-135 Rivet Joint , Signals and Electronic Intelligence or SIGINT and ELINT aircraft. There were also 8 P-3B aircraft converted to P-3 AEWC deployed by US Customs and Border Patrol in conjunction with E-2C Hawkeyes lent out to USCG in the 1980s and 1990s. The P-3 AEW had similar equipment to USN E-2C carrier-based AEW aircraft.

    At 54:20 regarding the aft EO/IR turret, haven’t we seen one already in this presentation? I think there’s one aft of the AAS, because it blocks the forward one from deploying.

    • @ChrisBrady737

      @wayne_kurr Місяць тому

      @@ChrisBrady737 that’s a shame. There’s considerable differences between the P8 and E-7A but I guess largely a lot of systems are the same. Effectively the E-7A is just a BBJ with larger generators and some other additions.

    A question coming from a non pilot (Literally an 18 yo high schooler from Turkey): Do pilots who have been flying for a time remember or has to remember every minute detail like whicever bus powers the wheel well fire detection or what is the exact amount of fuel needed in center fuel tank to trigger a config warning? (This question excludes you since you are a walking 737 fcom)

    • @ChrisBrady737
      @ChrisBrady737  Рік тому +6

      Yes they do. Pilots undergo a lengthy groundschool program (with an exam at the end) before proceeding onto simulator training. Technical knowledge is reassessed both in the simulator every 6 months, on line checks and often with some form of annual technical refresher program. Good technical knowledge gives you the advantage when things go wrong!

    Regarding the German orders it should be corrected.
    Five orders were made initially.
    In 2022 it was announced to order 12 instead of 5.
    The the order was reduced to 8 examples.
    So as far as I know the current order should be 8 for the german Marine.
    The NATO will replace 6x 707-E3A AWACS by the end of this decade.
    They will be replaced by 6x 737-700ER Wedgetails

    • @ChrisBrady737
      @ChrisBrady737  Рік тому +2

      Hopefully not, although most 737 pilots will have mistakenly pressed the TOGA switches instead of the A/T disconnect switches so anything is possible! Fortunately the weapons firing has more safeguards and is usually done by the NFOs in the back.

    Just goes to show they could have retrofitted an EICAS onto the MAX if they had been forced to by regulators. Instead we get more of the old “6 packs”….which are already getting temperamental, even on fairly new MAXes….

    • @ronaldfischer1195
      @ronaldfischer1195 7 місяців тому

      Of course they could have… they just didn’t want to have to require extra training for pilots due to their agreement with Southwest

    The P8 has problems at low altitudes (under 500") as those jets suck too much salt water.

    • @engineernels1057
      @engineernels1057 5 місяців тому +1

      Disagree, we operate sub 500 quite often doing ASW. There's nothing in NATOPS about any depredations down low. 1200 P8 hours.
