The game drew comparisons to Taito's Operation Thunderbolt, Sega's Line of Fire and SNK's own Mechanized Attack. ACE reacted positively to the game's horror theme and story, calling it Operation Wolf meets Splatterhouse.
This was a very difficult game for an early light gun shooter. There are enemies literally all over the screen attacking all at once, it is humanly impossible to shoot them all down precisely, and it's made even harder if your arcade operator can't be bothered to calibrate the guns to be precise As far as fast paced game goes, this is perhaps a bit too fast, constantly having to pick up more ammo while the whole screen is filled with enemies using hit scan weapons to instantly hit you. I guess it's why it's a 3 player game, only a perfectly coordinated play will keep everyone alive, this is definitely not a game you can solo without continues
That's usually how it works in arcade games with multiple players, but here is not the case. This kind of design is just standard practice of SNK back then, they simply focused on the profit aspect and made the game as unfair as possible in order to get players to continue feeding it credits. Since this was around the golden age of arcades, and games like these were of reasonably high production. Your average player would chalk up their losing streak as their own lack of skills, instead of knowing it's intentional sloppy game design on SNK's behalf in order to rein in more profit for the arcade operators
"The woman said destroy the fifth one. Then she died..." Um you guys shot her in the face like 50 times. I 'm surprised she lived long enough to say THAT much! LOL!
Saw this at an old movie theater in Chehalis, Washington when I was a kid. I was like "oh look it's house of the dead for Super Nintendo." I would remember it every so often but I'm so glad I finally found it because for a long time, I thought this game literally didn't exist and that I dreamt it.
Sequel, "Beast Busters: Second Nightmare" is a true replica of HotD as it is 3D. However it's very rare as its platform, Neo-Geo 64, was cancelled and is very poorly emulated.
SNK also brought out an arcade game just like this available through mame, forgot the name! It was a military theme instead. But it was nowhere good as this one!😎😎
Can you REALLY blame the zombies for killing off anyone who goes in there? I mean, what do you think we living would do if someone (even a living person) came and started shooting everybody and everything in sight?
First, I only have 2 AimTrak lightguns. The Sinden lightgun wasn't even around back when I made this video. For this video, all 3 players are using a mouse.
This isn't a Neo Geo game. If you can't get Neo Geo games to work on MAME, it might have something to do with having the wrong version of neogeo.zip for your version of MAME.
Roddy Piper, Keith David and Chuck Norris walk into a horror rail-shooting arcade game.
Player3 is efinitely Kurt Russel from The Thing 1982
Dillon, You son of a bitch!
Cool if this game as a real movie ^^
Lmao😂😂😂👍👍
Even with 3 players, Beast Busters is still a challenge! Good job, everybody.
it gets harder the more players you have - I've found it's easier overall in single player

i never been able to complete stage 1 myself despite many attempts
One stands to question if the amount of enemies is contingent with the number of players....like a difficulty balance kinda thing.

It's made for 3 Player Carnage.
Ahh, the Monster Monster Truck. One of my all-time favorite bosses.
"The woman said destroy the fifth one. Then she died..."
Um you guys shot her in the face like 50 times. I 'm surprised she lived long enough to say THAT much! LOL!
Don't forget, she was a CIA agent!
The only time I've ever seen this game was in an airport on my way to Spain. I thought I'd never see it again!
So playing this game is like living an ordinary day in San Francisco.
Don't say that!
At least the city in this game allows you to carry a gun to defend yourself.
@@Batben01 and there isn't homeless people's turds laying around. Also, you don't have to put up with a commie leftist governor and his crazy aunt.
Well things got worse. He beat the recall. And Huntington Beach has a nasty oil spill.
this game game used to scare me at the arcades.
....
not gonna lie... it was freaking me out just now..! 😖
Yeah, it was pretty brutal back in the day, especially if your 8 years old.
Yeah! Same feeling - but somehow I always felt curiosity and desire to play it!
those mutated creatures gives me goosebumps
It was only 2D and you shouldn't be scared... The one freaked me out was HOtD series..
Pansy.
The accuracy of these 3 gun wielding psychopaths make me feel kinda bad for the monsters.
No, it's one guy using three uzi's at once, LOL.
Ha, this is basically "Operation Wolf" with zombies. I remember playing it once since I was amused by the sight of zombies shooting guns.
The Walking Dead... if it took place in 1989 and everyone had Uzis.
You know, this game got me to thinking, just who exactly knew that The Blue Man Group performances would have such an adverse effect upon people?
Saw this at an old movie theater in Chehalis, Washington when I was a kid. I was like "oh look it's house of the dead for Super Nintendo." I would remember it every so often but I'm so glad I finally found it because for a long time, I thought this game literally didn't exist and that I dreamt it.
Remind me never to call you guys during a hostage situation.... 😐
Man! I had forgotten this game! I'm so glad I found it!!
its bad enough they are zombies, but these are gun wielding zombies zOMGWTF!?
*mutant. That one boss turned into a dog.
Even the bats have guns!
Kinda like the south.
It’s strange
This game is making House of the Dead look like Duck Hunt
michael jackson once said in an interview that this is an amazing game.
MrDerOutsider Really? I didn’t know he was playing that game!😯
Michael actually had the cabinet and he would bring it with him while he toured.
Amazing, I thought sure this guy was pulling our leg, but I looked it up, he's right lol
It might be the closest idea representation of his music video Thriller.
I never knew SNK made an arcade rail shooter before! 😎
Pumped a LOT of quarters into this one.
Back when I was a child, a local Mexican restaurant had a small arcade room, and beast busters was one of the few games in there.
This rail shooter was way head of it's time which is awesome.
This was Michael Jacksons favorite game. He kept a cabinet on his tour bus.
The final boss's first form reminds me of Hojo from FFVII
The new arcade games at Brunswick zone XL in Naperville.
Putt-Putt Golf arcade floor 1991. Great memories.👍🔥🔥🔥
23:49 Isn't that the same evil laugh that they used for General Morden in the Metal Slug games?
Yes it is
Hardest and very frustrating game his light gun games
Kinda interesting that some zombies' design look very similar to those in Metal Slug 3.
Because Game was created by company before they create Metal Slug
@@ВаляКонарева-ж8т Yeah I'm aware of it
same goes with Irem's shadows on earlier Metal Slug games
Oh damn, now the zombies have *guns*
Well that ending sure looked scary
totally
2d house of the dead 2
Half way between Operation Wolf and House Of The Dead. Space Gun is half way between Operation Wolf and Aliens
Sequel, "Beast Busters: Second Nightmare" is a true replica of HotD as it is 3D. However it's very rare as its platform, Neo-Geo 64, was cancelled and is very poorly emulated.
懐かしいなあ(´▽`)
ガキの頃に友達と3人同時プレイやりましたけど、自分の弾着エフェクトが何色か(自分が何処を撃ってるのか)時々わからなくなるんですよね(笑)
14:32 LUCKY!! ⚕️
"We've come to solve the mystery"
*starts shooting up the whole place*
so what did 'destroy the fifth one' mean?
It was a clue to destroy the eyestalks on the alien leader's "throne".
The sound in this is class
the first boss was werewolf zombie? wtf xddd
Feels like this game was based off a movie...
Was there any way to save the C.I.A agent for a different ending? Or would it be the same ending regardless?
I don't think there's a way to save her and I don't think there is another ending.
@@arronmunroe Thank you :) was just curious.
It's like Operation: Wolf meets Splatterhouse
like if john carpenter made a video game in 1989 :)
Recuedo haber jugado este juego, fue un exito hace años.👍
9:56 "It's safer near the river. Lets go!"
Morgan Freeman: "It was not, in fact, safer near the river".
Игра легенда играл в неё в 1991 году на аркадном автомате в Санкт-Петербурге
LOL let Dee and Mark have some ammos man
Lol, yeah he's "that guy", hogging the power up's.
Before Racoon City!
Hope they bring this to the Switch!
That would be nice.
This game was only enjoyable if your arcade made the game playable for free
what kind of ending is that?
SNK had a sick sense of humor. There was also a "twist ending" in another of their games, Cyber-Lip.
Kinda good game tho, but you should try BEAST BUSTERS 2: Second Nightmare!
I really appreciate it! Just letting you know!
I believe the sound emulation still isn't too great on that game, but I will try it after it improves.
I never heard of this game. It looks like an early version of "Area 51"
one of the games that you will spend more token in arcade specialy the terminator
This game is very very difficult to play.
SNK also brought out an arcade game just like this available through mame, forgot the name! It was a military theme instead. But it was nowhere good as this one!😎😎
It was Mechanized Attack.
And Nam '75 on SNK's Neo Geo.
Can you REALLY blame the zombies for killing off anyone who goes in there? I mean, what do you think we living would do if someone (even a living person) came and started shooting everybody and everything in sight?
"But sir, they are just protecting theirselves(zombies)😭"
“Then I started blastin’ “the game
That's one hell of a Bolivian army ending.
Sooooooo the three heroes have been abducted by aliens in the ending ???
it was them that caused this
Are they really the monsters? It was you guys who started shooting
What the hell just happened in the ending???
Snk and his "happy endings" of these days ..
The announcer sounds like he comes from Street Fighter One
Can you play the sequel of Beast Busters?
Last time I checked, the emulation wasn't very good.
How in the world did you get this game to play extra sounds?
I have no idea what you mean by extra sounds.
@arronmunroe It wouldn't play extra sounds when I played that game.
(Source: m.ua-cam.com/video/nasr9chaWwM/v-deo.html

Just an average day in America.
anybody have any ideas how I can possibly play this game again on PC ?
It's playable on PC with the emulator MAME. It's also available on Steam as part of the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection.
Hmmm..... arron! You only have 2 sinden lightguns but how you can do 3 player?
First, I only have 2 AimTrak lightguns. The Sinden lightgun wasn't even around back when I made this video. For this video, all 3 players are using a mouse.
Is this running on a New Geo? Have this on my mame emu, so it may not be, because I can't get Neo Geo from that!
This isn't a Neo Geo game. If you can't get Neo Geo games to work on MAME, it might have something to do with having the wrong version of neogeo.zip for your version of MAME.
Was that the bad ending or something
I don't think there are any other endings.
Nope. It's a "twist ending" made by SNK, just like the one in their NEO-GEO game, Cyber-Lip.
Play in FC, stuck at test screen :(
arrounmunroe here we go.
Although this is a great intense game, but zombie carrying a gun and operating vehicles are not logical.
So, alien robot zombies?
三人同時プレイなら長く持ちやすいですね。毛利元就じゃありませんが三本の矢も一緒なら容易には折れないとは、これのような気がします。
昔は何も思わんかったけど、今考えると、ゾンビが全員武装してるのに違和感が…。
Final context please
The last boss's laugh is from metal slug
This game came out in 1989. Metal Slug's first game was in 1996. If anything Metal Slug took the laugh from Beast Busters.
2015 ARCADE
What year was this game released?
1989
Action Movie be like:
Operation Wolf/Thunderbolt with zombies.
Zombies with the gun
1989 SNK
Can you imagine programming this shit? Fucking hell.
36 credits?
OH YEA I BET THIS WASNT AT THE HARDEST SETTING?!
It was on normal, which is the default setting.
2015 ARRON
ARCADE
Good
Retro version of The House of the Dead (Sega)
Damn, older SNK games had a lot of women dying.
Nice graphix and gorefest but boring af
Would be fun an AES version with a NEO GEO type plastic gun
這個打槍的遊戲是我小時候看過的遊戲
aka Undead Mechanized Attack.
左のやつアイテム独占しすぎ
爆弾温存しすぎ
No more?
19 BATTLE
I'm sorry but this game seems like a joke to me, as it seems like a photoshoot and those zombies are giving poses. 😂😂🤣
😡 NOT BAD
