- Phil Keoghan, host of the hit CBS reality show "The Amazing Race," journeys back to his hometown of Christchurch to document the tragedy caused by the earthquake in New Zealand and see how it has affected his family and close friends.
This is the first time I've seen this; I didn't even realise that Phil was from Chch. But, I must echo his sentiment of putting of travelling here. Please, do still come to NZ. Please still come to chch!!
Wow didnt even kn that he was kiwi!
Your old stomping grounds aye
Amen please come chch needs your support
Good on you young people who got on board with the clean up and whatever help you could give. I applaud you.
I so didn't know he was kiwi.. Cool
Neither did I. Fort he wax American
Well, I had planned on spending a lot of my trip in Chch but I couldn't. I took his advice and didn't cancel my trip. We spent the month of March in NZ that year
thankyou phil and especially CBS, you are truly your "brothers" keeper.
Your a kiwi never forget that
there's alot of people from new zealand who moved to america and got famous like sam neill for example went to america did jurassic park and a few other movies and came back to live here again
Thank you Phil .. NZ ..
When you live in Paradise you have to be reminded sometimes that you're still part of the real world.
@hoteliwinshowcases thats why he was here in NZ. Was filming something on the west coast of the south island i think
Watching in 2020 a lot has changed. But a lot still needs to be fixed and repaired. Certain streets and roads. A lot of red zoned areas. Still people are fighting with their insurance. But people of chch just take it day by day. We are strong!
I never minded these celebrities coming to see. It raised awareness. Shame some roads are still a mess..
Wow I never knew the accent changes quickly when you move to another country. Or is this the south land burr? (Used in Invercargill)
well, he's lived all over the place (Canada, Antigua, NZ, and now The United States) Also, he probably had a voice coach train him out of his accent to get his job, hope that helped :)
There's still a hint of a kiwi ring in his voice though
If you want to present TV shows for American TV it helps if you speak with an American accent. They have trouble understanding other English speaking accents. I'm from NZ and the last time I was in the US people thought my accent was Irish and many couldn't understand me
I wonder why not any of The Amazing Race seasons have been on the south island of New Zealand. :/
He just hosts, wouldn't have any say in destinations
@@samlewis4583 I feel bad that I didn't realise how much he's contributed to Christchurch. What an interesting life he has had.
I live in christchurch
Coming up 10 years.....
'Funny' aside... Bob Parker (22Feb11) compared to Rudy Giuliani (9/11).... How times change...
I know right... that Giuliani comment made me cringe... poor Bob
He was also friends with Sam from C1 cafe... Lots not aging too well there!
anyone else notice phil name is spelled wronged @ 3:50
This is my city
didnt know he was a kiwi
Ya can take a man out of nz but ya can't take nz out of a man. Well done fellow can tab Phil
Wow
Christchurch is one word. Please pronounce it as such. We realise it's a stupid name, but emphasising it isn't helping.
They’re different accents. Many cities are pronounced differently by different speakers
Stupid name ??
Cheers America ♥
Was that St Andrews College 2:09?
No. St Andrews College is in Papanui Rd, about 8km away. Late reply, sorry
moyadapne I know it’s 3 years late but not to sound rude but your wrong it actually was St Andrews
how ever i am not trying to disrespect phil in any way it is just the people who arent from originally christchurch getting into the damaged area that pisses me off
My city in ruins.
With these hands

how come all these famous people get to go into the red zone why cant they let people sign something that says they wont hold them responsible if anything happens just because they are rich and half the celebrities who got to go in weren't even from christchurch
