The amount of work and attention to detail in this made me realize that Matt’s not doing a renovation… he’s build a piece of furniture to live in.
Truer words could not have been written.
The small pieces you screwed into the wall to hold up the board above the window is absolute genius and a "why didn't I think of that?" I was the one responsible of holding things as my husband screwed them in. Thus leading to much consternation and sore arms and wonky placement. Brilliant simple solution 😂
I’ve spent a lot of time working alone 😁
These are the things only children dream up.
I have used blocks before, but the use of shims and the laser WITH the blocks is what caught my interest!!
A zillion different tools - except for a ladder! Maybe a Go Fund Me campaign for a ladder for Matt? Or a taller bucket. Your skills leave me speechless. So many details.
“I’m pretty crazy. C’mon Pancake” 😂 You’re the best, Matt.
There is a saying I learned working in construction - "You can tune a piano, but you can't tuna fish."
You're passion for precision is admirable - and yet realistic. I have heard of an architect who in building his own house *had* to align all the electrical outlet cover plate screw *slots* horizontally (or maybe it was vertically?).
Come for the woodworking, stay for the comedy.
Not surprised to see the project not finished, its a big one
Matt, as always your work ethic is very admirable. Your attention to detail is spot on. Thanks again to you and your wife for sharing the amazing videos that are not only informative but very inspiring .
When helping a friend build a garage, I commented, "We're not building a cabinet it's a garage". After watching you I can see you will be living in a cabinet and It's awesome. Looking forward to much more.
Looking at the cabinets in the background, had a friend that built cabinets professionally. He ended up buying the doors from a guy, from that time on. He had all the gluing fixtures, hinge mounting machines ect. All he had to do is give him a style a size. Wait for a delivery.
In Dutch we used to say, when constructing something and not wanting to be concerned with being precise and exact “but we are not building an (pipe) organ”, where everything had to be exact, precise, with no give or take, just right on! You probably never heard that saying yet for you there is only one way: right on, precise, meticulous. There is only one opportunity to make it right and it takes the same amount of time! Congratulations in sticking to you principles!
That look when you say you're pretty crazy 😂 I get it though !!
My major takeaway from todays video is, the importance of a 5 gallon bucket and lid. Some smart person should starting making lids for different shoe sizes.
I concur, 5 gallon buckets are certainly very handy for us shorties who need a little height !! LOL.
I was just wondering if that was an OSHA-approved 5-gallon bucket or just a run-of-the-mill 5-gallon bucket.
@@bobk9650 you can tell it’s not OSHA approved, It hasn’t got a handrail !
@@johnking8679 Also of use for those of above average height who just ned that extra little bit of height.
And/Or drywall stilts...
🤣🤣 “I’m pretty crazy.” Opens the door, “C’mon Pancake.”
I about spit out my coffee!😂😂😂
I like the way you start the narrative in a seen and let it run while you start the next seen or start the shot that you’re describing.
Did that make sense to anyone but me? 🙄
Good editing, that’s all I’m trying to say.
With you attention to detail, I thought I was watching someone build a fine piece of furniture--but then you kicked the bottom of the board in with your stocking foot--my faith was restored.
Good Morning Cremona Family.
Fire tape your joints, helps with fire, makes your house tighter
Your attention to detail is amazing. What a great room.
Matthew, you are doing an awesome job and when your done your wife and everyone that sees your home will love it. Be really careful standing on that paint bucket. I use to do that until one day the bucket decided it was tired of me standing on it and removed itself from under me. Needless to say my body didn't take to well to this happening. Be safe and I love watching all your videos that you and your wife put out.
Matt: I have never realized how much work goes into a remodel. You are an artist that it is truly a work of art. Awesome view too.
I have ever before in my life to see a home reno done with such detail and precision work, good job Matt
What an amazing view you have from this room. Can not wait to see it completed. With such beautiful property it will be great to see it from a cozy relaxing place anytime of the year.
a nice Stained Glass window for the pantry would be fun.
After all the finicking with the windows during construction to account for all the trim, @donavanshomes must be sitting watching saying I love it when a plan comes together.
You're not crazy for moving the box, I would move it as well. I call it "normal"...
My vote would be for stained glass for the pantry! That’d look so freaking cool
Matt, this work and all the casings and trim pieces turned out stunning. The little changes you made to fix some things out of plum, were really interesting to see. Everything you do is perfection, like moving the light switch box, so it was equal on each side for door casing and trim. Thanks for sharing everything, and this room is going to be beautiful and gorgeous view.
Huge extension jambs! I would have considered making and fastening them on a bench.
Love the shop slippers 😂
17:57 Holy hell, I laughed so hard. The comedic timing couldn't have better with Pancake! 🤣
You rock, Cremona!
Just leaving a comment to show my support of your home improvement thingamajig videos. ❤
Much appreciated
Video is 12 minutes old... This is the earliest I've caught it 😁
Is there anything with woodworking you don't know or have the correct tools to successfully complete?? Sure looks nice and something you should be very proud of.
I always work in my socks 😅
Bloody fantastic young fella.👍🦘
Wow you said it Mathew your crazy lol ,have to say your trim work is impeccable from what your showing 😮😊!
Wow! Your attention to detail, 3/16", is fantastic. I know how much work this is because I've done it. But you are way better at sticking to the small details than I. Great job Matt.
Matt, you do beautiful work.
You can see that it's your home with the amount of detail that you've put in to it. Paying someone to do it with that much detail is expensive as hell 😂
Love all the videos you make. Cant wait till the next one ❤❤
Your attention to detail is spot on. It is a!most as if Donavan were in the wings prompting you.
The adjustable switch box is the best forward planning detail I know of. Also many are reluctant to take a Saw-z-all to a pantry window header when they are a year into a remodeling project. You and Lindsey are comfortable saying it is most important for the trim details to match in the sunroom over the pantry.
Have you given any thought to putting down floor protection to eliminate scratching the beautiful flooring? A roll of RamBoard sounds like good insurance to me.
Thanks for sharing your progress with us.
YEP …. THAT LOOKS NICE !
A lot being said about safety relating to standing on a bucket, try wearing HI VIS SOCKS and put out some road cones and barrier tape, dont worry ,the concrete floor will break your fall😂
What a difference that makes, looking good. 😊
Looks very elegant already😊
I honestly don't know when I'd sub to you because I don't recall watching any of your videos but I must've if I subscribed to you. I love happy accidents because this video brought up great memories when I was younger because I loved watching "This Old House" and this video gave me that feeling. And you have a whole playlist of the renovation of the house. You better believe I'll be watching through them all from the beginning.
An amazing job. That “little step” you keep mentioning is called a reveal. 😊
For the effort you invest, I would suggest a custom router or shaper bit.
Beautiful work, Matt. I've seen picture frames made with less attention to detail!
Absolutely beautiful work and so meticulous. Thank you for sharing your progress!😊
Hi Matt, love the room!! Wow, all the detail you planned out is really coming to fruition now. The casing and trim work is so clean that it draws you eye to look out the window. I'm looking forward to you next video. I hope your wife appreciates your creative and detailed talents. Keep pushing on!
What a difference some trim makes! Looks great Matt.
Loving the work. you should get your 'Kumiko' skills going for the pantry window
I don’t hate that idea
Amazing transformation thus far. Those pieces of trim really make a visual difference. [enjoy Lindsay's "closed captions" commentary--informative, with hints of humor]
Oh? I've been chuckling for a long while at the captions, that some tools are named funny and at a detail "for the hearing impaired". Is it Lindsay who is behind them? I never would have guessed.
I use rev.com to create the captions
More amazing progress Matt, it's looking fantastic. Don't overly worry thinking ahead of what you still have to do but consider what you have achieved, which is nothing short of miraculous!!!!
Absolutely high end carpentry. Always what we see out of you Matt.
25:18 the old framing hammer on the trim trick. 😃
I do have to admit that having that Domino thingambober is a game changer for lining up edge boards to make a beam and post! I'll definitely have to splurge when i get to my forever home!
I'm surprised you didn't domino some of the window sill 🤔
Nothing to really domino it to
Your channel is a real blessing, you are so methodical in your approach to every thing, you have a beautiful family
Awesome OSHA approved bucket ladder😂
It's looking gorgeous. Going to be a very restful room.
Great view out those windows
Nice work Matt!
Can’t wait to see the crown installed.
You are doing a great job and years down the road your trim will still be in alignment!
Great Job Matt
OMG, Not even my house and I can't wait to see this room finished! I'm thinking AMAZING!
looking great Matt
Beautiful!
Matt, you make videos with sound being super important. Why do you insist on using impact drills? You should use a clutch drill on setting one for high torque, much quieter. I used to work in at West Elm and customers hated the sound of the impact drill. I also put together a 16x16 deck and my ears preferred the clutch drill. Jus sayin!😂❤ the show.
Look at you using the Kapex like a pro 👏👏 what a great system Festool has! The room is looking great Matt.
Really looks nice!
Great video on making trim.
I am doing this same kind of work in my house. All from my own shop as well. I am enjoying watching how you tackle the same issues I am.
Great progress on the trim out of the sunroom.
Nice work, really coming together. I'm a bit OCD, so I understand 3/16 of an inch.
You have skills my friend. Your technical explanations of what you are doing and why, are impeccable!!.
All coming together Matt, great to see the progress :)
Looking great! The view is incredible
A true work of art. The home is coming along great !
Love the attention to detail and the lack of dryall. Hopefully you'll be done the kitchen before Christmas dinner.
Looking beautiful Matt , you are a wonderful woodworker!
Matt, this was an awesome episode. Its looking soooo good.
Really nice or as Fighter Pilots say "Sierra Hotel."
correct me if I'm wrong but I was taught that the term sill is reserved for exterior trim work and that stool is the proper term for the interior trim.
30:04 Nice CLAMP RACK!!
Simply a fantastic and a master class workmanship 10/10 ,looks great 👍👍👍
Wow, wow. wow!!! Every step makes it look even more awesome. It must be very encouraging for you. Love your channel.
Beautiful work. A lot of work, and geez the bucket seems to work just fine for you.
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO
A amazing job 😊 doing all those long boards by yourself. It's coming together so nicely ❤
It is looking awesome. How come Donovan s not helping you with the trim?
New to the channel…..great work man! I’m looking forward to watching more episodes
My wife thought I was nuts to move the front door, with side lights, three inches. I intended to make the sun burst under the new roof symmetrical. Some things just have to be correct, so I don't notice them, and ask why not?
Superb details ❤🎉
I vaguely remember you guys talking time frame... and wanting to have this ready by LAST Thanksgiving, I think... I guess if you hustle, you might have it done by THIS Thanksgiving... or maybe Christmas... perhaps New Years.... or maybe Valentine's Day? I confess I chuckled a bit when I saw the extent of your plans and the time frame for completion... I remember thinking "Good Luck!". You are doing an excellent job... and quality takes time, obviously. I'm glad you are taking the time to do it with this level of expertise. Thanks for sharing this journey with us.
I’ll be happy to have this one room done by thanksgiving
The unexpected barn construction kinda got in the way too... lol
Hi Matt!
If I had the skills, tools and dedication to perfection as you, I still think I’d be hard pressed to match your sorcery. This is awesome and excellent entertainment! Thanks for inviting us along on your fantastic journey.
Well done, sir.
Now, stop lollygagging and get to work 😜
Just AWESOME!!!
GREAT
Greetings from the BIG SKY. Building is a lot of work to do it right.
very nice work
Beautiful room
