I Threw My GoPro Into The Canal! The Footage It Captured Was Incredible! Rare sighting!

- In this video I decided to take a look at what goes on beneath the surface on the local canal. I placed a camera into likely looking spots along with some bait like corn, pellets, maggots and bread. The footage I managed to get was amazing. Some really clear shots of the fish reacting to the baited swims. We also captured every canal species known to the stretch on camera which was pretty cool. It was hard work making this video, so I hope you enjoy it!

I tried this recently on my local canal. Some fabulous images of traffic cones, shopping trolleys and a paint can which looked to be around 3lbs
No old bikes mate?
🤣😂😆
😂
I think we fish the same canal 🤔🤣
When I first started lure fishing I was fishing under a motorway bridge. I caught a holdall. Whilst dragging it out it became obvious that there was something large and spherical within. My imagination took over and I was convinced there was a head in that bag. Eventually I opened it and it was a large rock and a huge pile of stolen credit cards lol.
I've been bedridden for just over 2 years I absolutely loved that video. I've not been out and seen the seasons change so this was brilliant for me thank you.
Get well soon ,bro
Yes I would like more underwater action. Most enjoyable to watch.
That was like therapy watching that.
I've just spent the whole day and evening caring for my 94yr old Dad and come home totally knackered.
So I watched this on full screen with sound down... very relaxing Thank You 😊
I was in Leeds city centre yesterday and in one of the small docking bays at the beginning of the Leeds Liverpool canal ( directly outside Fazenda restaurant if you want to see just how small on Google) I initially spotted thousands of fry, and then the ubiquitous shoals of small roach and a couple of perch. Then when my eyes got accustomed I immediately saw 10/12 very decent bream at the bottom all of about 3-5lbs. Then two jacks and two fingerling pike before spotting one that was easily 7lb hanging motionless just below the surface under some weed. To top it all off my son point and said 'what is that!?'. Flat on the bottom was one of the largest pike I've ever seen, I've caught them to 18lb and this was bigger, and so fat, though the reason for the girth was obvious. There was a pike tail still sticking out of its mouth. Incredible to see in such a busy place.
Wow, that's so cool.
Outside Fazenda is a great place for fish to hang out 😀
That’s amazing… world heavy weight boxer and fisherman! So many talents!
Enjoyable video and well filmed. Underwater shots looked great
Nice size grass carp id love to see a video looking for invasive species in any uk waters and thankyou for this great video
Carp are invasive lol.
@@nospoon4799 yeah that's my point mate 👍
Best fishing channel ever, you sir have got me back into fishing after 20 years
Happy hunting
The more underwater footage, the better, Chris!
Awesome buddy.. great underwater, cheers Chris & Sammy
Love this, could watch it all day.
I'd love individual videos like this on the different fish please. Another grate video thank you
Bloody cracking that. Eerie when the pike appeared 😂
Great footage Chris. I'm one who would like to see more of this underwater videos. Cheers...😮
Grass carp for sure
What an amazing video really enjoy watching your videos good man Chris.
Loved it! Down here in the south east the signal crayfish would probably have just mugged you of your GoPro.
Definitely would have been attacked by Ronnie and Reggie... there a problem on the river Eden and Medway. 😢
I'd like to see if if groundbaiting for pike with little bits of fish actually works.
Well I guess it’s effectively just dead baiting so I guess it would work
I’ve tried it and it seemed to work. Put some bits of fish in after a couple of sessions (My thinking being that if they ate the fishy bits whilst I was fishing, they may not eat my bait!) then went back and had 8 Pike out of that swim! Not exactly scientific, I know…
Pre-baiting with old deadbaits or stuff going out of date can be effective
I always feeder fish whilst pike fishing, building a good swim of prey fish encourages pike into the area and they will stalk around the swim looking for a feed.
It works...Martin Bowler showed it on Video years ago 😊
@@simbob_2838 I've thrown mashed bread and/or maggots in to attract the bait fish.
Absolutely amazing and beautiful video!
Great footage X Pom watching this in Australia only wishing I was back in England love your filming keep going
Beautiful to watch mate. Nice one.
Wonderful!!
I could watch this all day! 🙌🏻👍🏻
Well after watching this it’s clear to see that the Perch love a red maggot over white maggots. Most people understand the significance of red baits and Perch, but it’s always nice to see it. Thank you for the video.
I've caught a big river perch on a red 15mm boilie before lol
Cool vid good to see diff types fish and reactions to diff baits
Brilliant just loved your filming so interesting thanks very much
Love seeing everyone utilising an underwater camera nowadays in their videos! Love the video buddy 😊👍
Natures Aquarium. Last swim was magical, brilliant vid.
Great educational video Chris.. It's always nice to see and learn how is the life underwater... Cheers really enjoyed this one 🙌
Ginger, your underwater footage rocks! Good stuff interesting and relaxing. Well done!
Catched me a Zander today with my daughter and cooked it for dinner. Watched this video while eating the Zander Filets and being absolutely happy. Very nice footage, thank you!
Greetings from Germany
Your a true insperation for me really starting to get into my fishing thank you so much love the vids keep them coming lol
Great vid as always Chris, I was a bit shocked that the videobombing pike (behind the tench) didn’t get so much as a mention!
I guess a grassie was the other species that came through a while after?
Lovely to see a canal that has such clear water! Like many other posters that’s not my experience ! Tight lines mate, ever come to Amsterdam I’ll happily go after some five pound perch with you.
Yes I thought I’d imagined it as it disappeared when the tench turned a little. I was surprised that so many smaller fish didn’t seem to mind it was there unless they hadn’t seen it either!
I thought that , the pike got ignored.
Great footage, Chris - thank you. There's so much to learn about fish behaviour! Certainly happy to see more of these. I'm probably more predator-focused but it's all top quality and pieces of the puzzle we all try to solve when we go fishing - so I'll be watching them all anyway 🤣🎣
This episode was brilliant. I enjoy the underwater footage. Please film more of these videos.
Awesome film Chris, the fish are beautiful in the sunlight. Thanks for the effort you put in.
Awesome footage of all those species feeding. Brilliant work! My favourite bits were the tench - what a gorgeous fish.
Thanks Chris - excellent video. I've been fishing for over 60 years and in the last few years have been watching underwater activities which have blown many of my fishing theories and beliefs quite literally out of the water.
Yes please, saves us all snorkeling 🤿🍻
Great video, really like this, fascinating to see the underwater footage and how fish react to the baits.
Definitely interested in seeing more =)
Very educational video. Something for everyone there.
Yes I would love more underwater action. Very enjoyable to watch.
i enjoy the underwater footage,
interesting to see.
Great footage Chris as always thank you 🙏 gives everyone especially us angler’s the insight what is going on in our swims 😊
That perch at 06:30 looks a right punk. I’ve never really thought before that a perches dorsal fin is upright the whole team when it’s in the water when I’m so used to it being flat when caught.
Great video 🙂......I've caught pike on bread and sweetcorn tho lol 😆
Excellent underwater footage
Hiya Chris love the under water action so cool to see what lurks under the surface absolutely amazing well done great video ♥️👍
Really interesting especially that they like bread best - simple bait!
Underwater stuff is brilliant Chris. Well done mate.
Hey Ginger! Honestly, an underwater video showing what's under there and how fish react does more good for me than a fishing video! Keep up the good and I am sure hard work!
One of your best videos yet. yes lots more of this content please,.
Brilliant video - really love these that you do. Thank you
Really interesting ! 👍
That was great definitely more of that
Cracking watch and nice to see such a thriving system your very lucky to be able to fish this
Very interesting it would be nice to see more videos like this. Keep up the good work.
Amazing footage, really interesting stuff.
Definitely more underwater filming needed.
Great work... yes i would like more underwater tench videos!
Really liked this please do more. Brilliant stuff
Well done 🎉
What gets me every time you fish the canal is how clear it is...my local canal, good visibility is about 3" and time between boats is minimal any time between April and November!
Be great to see the fish dealing with different baits and how they inspect or not your hook etc. Mesmerising looking at those fish - beautiful
Great stuff pal thanks for sharing!!! Some more of this type of filming please
Thanks 👍
Fantastic film, thank you !
I really love these kinds of videos. Its very interesting seeing all the different types of species showing up on the camera. I personally like fishing bream alot. Im only 15 years old but my pb bream is 6.43kg. The problem I have when fishing bream is keeping big groups of bream in the place Im fishing. I often use bread and sweet corn as ground bait trying to lure the fish in. And big groups of bream usually come in but they only stay for a few minutes before they go away even though I cast out new bread and corn. A specific video targetting bream with this underwater camera would be really cool. Me personally think I could learn alot of how the bream feed on the ground bait and definately catch more good bream. Thanks!
Brilliant thanks.
The quality of your camera work is superb..
Great video showing a scene we'd never see otherwise.
You've got your own Florida there !!
More of these please...! Great footage.
Absolutely stunning footage those Rudd are beautiful. Look forward to more of this 😊
Fantastic footage, well done, incredible how bream come in mess everything up and move on. 😊
Superb footage Chris. The colours on the roach fins were unbelievable.
Brilliant insight into under water m8. Fantastic video. Keep up the great work.
A very interesting video just goes to show how much fisher people love our fishing It's amazing how all small just scattered when a big bream tench is in the feed spot tight lines steve
Mate! I can watch Your videos all day long. There is so much science and pleasure to wath. Best regards from Poland 🤜🤛
Superb footage chris .. a great watch thankyou
Canal water is surprisingly not dirty at all, it just gets mixed with all the silt when boats pass through. I cycle the Birmingham canal network a lot, and ironically enough - considering you'd assume it'd be one of the dirtiest of them all - because more or less no boats go down certain bits anymore, quite often it's so crystal clear you can see right to the bottom.
Magic to see whats down there. Great footage of the tench
Awesome footage Chris! 🔥👍
I love this video it really gave me an insight into how fish feed on the canal, I'd like to see more
Alan
Thoroughly enjoyable matey. Cheers for sharing.
Brilliant content love the under water content con from Ireland 🇮🇪
Exceptional film Chris.
Thanks. Fascinating.
Fascinating footage would love to see you target the tench
Great work, I do enjoy these!
Loved that Pike in the background behind the Tench @8:04 ... which totally ignored it :-)
Banger video. I just love tench so much 🥰
Fabulous to watch and amazing number of fish. Not sure why you didn't mention the pike lurking in the background on the third section. I thought it would make a grab for one of the feeding fish, but it just drifted into the reeds.
Those city slicker fish.. hustling on the street corners...Aaah!... herds and herds of water buffalo bream..heads down grazing and turning the soil of the canal Savannah's...for other fish...filling my dreams...
Looked like a chub but u said only one in video...at beginning... little chublet....No elephants!...send out the sharp eyes trail trackers..
I love this underwater footage, always very interesting
Great video and interesting to see a grass carp that is not in a commercial fishery
Great video, really insightful. Many thanks. Raymondo.
brilliant footage, really useful to see in order to understand what's happening down there
😮😮😮love these underwater videos!!
Funny you doing this as I saw exactly the same recently in Florida
I love this like your own aquarium lol.
Also that pike in the background with all the small fish makes you wonder why they ever go for a lure!
First time visitor. Very good video.
Great stuff. Like to see more of this.
Man do I enjoy your channel. Nice to see so much fishes.
Tight lines from Bosnia!
Great underwater footage . Nice to see how fish react to bait. 😊
