lol that's the internet for you. A lot of people just looking for things to moan and complain about. And everybody is an expert with 1000 years experience in every job known to man and they just can't wait to tell you what you're doing wrong, gotta love it.
I did HVAC in military. Then went to med school and became a doctor. From one doctor to another, great videos keep them coming. you should see some of the hack jobs I've seen in Garden City.
My 2 cents mr pipes. I prefer the vxt feeder for a couple of reasons there’s a delay feature to where it will not feed from I think 30 seconds to up to 10 minutes. Most people normally set it for 2 minutes just in case the water is coming back slowly. And there is also a counter to keep track of the amount of water being used. Normally you record the counter on a card and compare to previous years. I use it on every steam job. I have seen them fail normally it fails by over feeding. I normally see them last over 10 years that’s probably twice as long as a navien lasts 😜. But I would say the best feeder is manual done by the customer. Check on it regularly. By the way Godzilla that is a bad ass cheat day I’m very impressed 👍😋
The VXT-24 and McDonnell Miller WFE-24 automatic water feeders both use the same type solenoid water valve. Inside the brass valve body there is a delicate rubber disk and a small stainless steel plunger that applies (or releases) pressure against that disc depending upon whether or not the electric solenoid is active (calling for water). The little rubber disc is prone to failure, causing water to continue flowing even though the solenoid is inactive. The good news: VXT sells a replacement solenoid valve assembly. The bad news: It's not cheap and you have to remove and disassemble the VXT-24. Unfortunately, they don't sell just the little rubber valve disc. Most service techs will replace the entire water feeder, which is probably the best solution. In any case, ALL automatic water feeders are prone to problems. That's why the installation instructions for MM WFE-24 says to replace the entire unit every 10 years.
The reason for such a slow fill is in order for the return water too make it's way back too the boiler & not over fill the boiler when all the return water eventually does return to the boiler! There's not enough room in such a small boiler for the excess water that could over fill the boiler! Suggest you put back in the correct orfice, add let the low water cut off & out feeder circuit do its job to slowly bring the water level up!! Suggestions would be to full understand how the equipment you use actually works & full read the manuals!! Thanks
😀 I know your not a fan of of the automatic water feeder what I want your feedback , my elder mother needs one and the installer has the McDonnell one that looks like a black little mailbox, are those just as good as the VXT ones I mean do they last a good time ? Thanks
Who inherits the stock in the truck, great you can carry so much. Been burning down my inventory as retirement is coming into view. Tons of stuff I will never liquidate when I spin the wrench for the last time.
I noticed you drained the boiler down before you checked the original auto feeder valve so it would have been feeding and letting water through. The new one did the same thing until the boiler was about 2/3 full because the M&M control operates the feeder to control the water level. Did I miss something ?
@@PipeDoctor Municipalities are adding phosphate to the drinking water to stop lead but it is causing all kinds of issues with valves like these. I am a stationary engineer and see these issues every day.
This is odd ok said use the small 1 gallon per min restrictor if the boiler it the feed will only run for that minute. You were well under the lwc why didn't you run the bypass fill valve and then run the boiler then when its running with the burner on drop the water until lwc trips on should be enough water to fill to proper level of the boiler .
Dam magnetic solenoid valves suck alot of appliances have the same issues. Sediment gets in the valve an never allows It to seat back in the position to close. I believe they shut off on water pressure as well bad pressure can cause them not to close as well.
Daughter Had the key. Mikey, Sometimes even Elephants Forget. Did Godzilla lay in the Street? Middle of January The boiler would be Real hot, good to go slow, Or Crack.
@@PipeDoctor I appreciate this insight. I've felt like I would be better off without auto feeder for several years now as it's been unreliable. So I keep the water off to it and just feed manually as needed.
That is a just a strainer and the those feeders don’t leak that often. VXT or WFE or WF2. The pro press was pretty impressive ( get it ) But most boiler guys carry 5/8 compression couplings for that situation. It solves the problem of no sweat union. Do you think room for another pro press coupling. A Very well stocked truck but always miss something sometimes. You carry electrical, plumbing, Hvac boiler controls and don’t navien parts. Also helpers job to check inventory items from a list and teaches them the most used parts

It's my personal favorite to add a Sediment filter before the bypass 🙌🏼
A charcoal filter in that place cleans and neutralizes water conditions. If it’s good enough for you to drink it is better for the boiler.
You guys are fun! Thanks for the helpful video!
Great Job and Knowledge
Clean that Sightglass thou lol

DONT RAGE text and drive lol :) and THANKS for the stickers, where are GODZILLA stickers?
I have the same model. My question is, if I take the check valve off and water is POURING out, I need to replace my feeder?
If you weren’t reading .....the unit wouldn’t be feeding!
Nice work!
What is the name of that pipe cutter you cut the copper with and you craft it what is that a zoom lock tool
built a cell tower on Jamaica Av back in 1985, one on Atlantic Av. Brooklyn and one on Staten Island
I like to see a union after the bypass ball valve and the water feed for that reason and easy future repair.. 👍
If I only have 2 wires goes up to the feeder. What should I connect?
I called that last time. that valve is NC so without power the valve is closed.
The only way for it to flood the boiler is a bad valve.

Mikey, I was quoted a price of $2780 just to replace VXT 120, what do you think.
Is this a automatic water feeder ? I don’t see these much or if I do idk what they r lol
so the directions told you to have #1 installed but you took out the flow meter altogether? weird.
I'm suprised no isolation vavle on the feeder
Those new Rheem water heaters. I have heard they are junk. Tank will rust out just past warranty and the like. Your opinion Mike?

Could be a messed up LWCO that's what operates the feeder
If only the M- M feeder would lock out like the Hydrolevel does and feed to the normal water level
(Dragnet theme) ladies and gentleman the story you will see is true only the water feeder was changed to protect the innocent 😂
Sooooo Baked 😌😌😌🙌🏼🤙🏼🤘🏼
should have left the bigger orifice in there, would have filled faster?

Best not to have an auto feeder. Then you are more aware of extra water due to steam leaks.
