Absolute find that. Needs to be 100% standard.. Must be one of the best around 👍🏼
Blimey, two Mk4 Escorts. When Chris drove that D reg out of the garage, it looked as though it had just arrived from 1987.
Absolutely love this era of Fords. I learnt to drive in a Mark 1 Fiesta and then drove one of these. Solid classics.
Having her brought back to stock just feels like what she deserves with how clean she is. Lovely find.
It'd be nice to see that original.
This is what makes this channel the best out there! MK4 business 👍
OMG what a beauty and what unbelievable condition. This car deserves to be put back to its original shape!
What an unbelievable couple of videos. It’s just amazing that these are still out there and how well some of them are stored. So, does anyone need a fake RS? I don’t think so. There’s always room for a nice original car, whatever the spec.
And well done to the guys for selling them to you.
At least he can see how genuine you and Chris are.
👏
That needs to go in a car museum that is mint. Welded lots of these in my past
thankfully modern bins are made of plastic these days lol. welded loads for mates in the 90s as doing so was like picking up dog shit off the street as they were everywhere.
Chris is right make it standard and take it back to stock. It's a beauty.
Should have it stuffed.
No yeah get thet redull thing off but other then that keep everything how it is because she is a lovely car
'Standard' James May approved.
'Standard' James May approved.
And no.backflash in the rear window either.
I had anXR3 1983 pre injection,I would turn it into XR3I they were 2 door,The kids loved being taken to school in mine, everybody wanted to race me ,and the Police wanted to stop me ....drove like it was on rails...the best Ford ever Rob N Chris.
Put those wheels on the Turbo, and bring this back to as close to stock as possible. These were the cars we saw every day and they will put so many smiles on faces seeing back to as it was back in the day. You've some epic content ahead guys. Can't wait!
Get it back to standard Rob, well worth the search for the parts! ♥️
Wow it looks like it’s just come off the assembly line, fantastic.
@@ricardodellecarta2414 your the guy that walks into a party and everything goes quiet, a proper buzzkill you Bro!
Happy memories for me. I bought my 17 year old son one of these for his first car when he passed his driving test as 30 odd years ago.
Change the cam belt !
Love to see it back to the original all depends whether an interior can be found great vid 👍
It must be returned to original factory spec. Unbelievable body and engine bay.
I fabulous buy lads.
What a great find guys. You two just keep creating great content.I really love how you are always upbeat and never moaning or complaining (unlike lots of Uk car repair channels) Thanks to both of you and keep up the good work.
At the end of day you have still brought a escort back into the world. Top blokes👍🏻
This just gets better and better.
There's something special about a run-of-the-mill shopping car that's been kept in that condition, it's a shame it's lost the interior but what a find! Great that you are always so enthusiastic about whatever you guys are doing, that really comes across. Getting excited about the door bottoms, what are you like!? (agree though)
once you see past the badge of nostalgia and look at it with a discerning eye it is what it is.Its certainly no car porn in my eyes either @ade norman
Back to original for this, can't wait to see it finished
90s kid here but that choke brings back memories can smell that exhaust from here ...
It's like a time capsule, absolutely mint definitely worth going back to standard.
Would love to see it back to stock. It's stunning ! Incredible find guys. Wouldn't be surprised if a specialist or Ford themselves will want the finished article !
I’d love to see this put back to original, it’s such a cracking car!
Rob, this is a find and a half. We'll done. Really enjoyed this one. 👍👍👍🇬🇧🏴
That’s beautiful - really glad to hear you planning to put it back to standard. Please do that! RS Turbo clones and even RS Turbos are ten a penny relative to these.
Amazing also to see a D plate survivor like that - around that time they seemed to rot after 5 years. I heard some myth to do with Ford using recycled steel at that time.
What a lovely motor, it desperately needs putting back to stock.
Beautiful car and yes I agree with Chris it deserves to be restored back to original. Bet you can get a bob or two towards the cost selling those seats.
As a former matelot in 1988 a shipmate of mine crashed as we raced through Newbury travelling back to Hms Newcastle in what seems like an identical car to this. It was his pride and joy. A lesson learned. Patched it up and sold it to get an RS Turbo he kept for 10 years. Memories.
Be great to see back to original condition and you are probably the best guys to do that . Well bought Rob and Chris.
That deserves to be brought back to factory condition.
What a find. Amazing condition. There is always the option of selling it as a restoration project. It would make a great basis for a concours project.
I'd just like to mention that I watched the video when you guys hit 100,000 subscribers. This video has already had more than 100,000 views.
Chris and Rob, you're smashing it! Keep it up, great content.
Definitely OEM as much as possible. Had one same colour and ran into the back of someone with a police motorcyclist level with me coming in other direction . He sat there and just shook his head, and smiled at me.
That is minter than a pack of polo’s!👌
Back to the 80’s!! Love it guys! Bring it back to stock.
I swear this dude allways got the best cars
What a real gem. Beautiful lil Machine 💖
That car deserves to go back to original Chris, it would also increase your resale value 😀 stay safe David 👍👍
I would like to see back seats in this, door panels installed and generally made stock, plus suspension back to normal height, it looks very nice.
Put back to original. I love your videos and when you drive around as it brings back a lot of memories from when I lived there. I was born and brought up in Rainham and seeing the old Sheppey Bridge was great. Keep up the great work
Back to original without question but then i had one "back in the day". Awesome content.
It’s got to be back 100% standard.
This car is museum quality, that’s where I think it should go.
What another lovely car, brings back so many memories
Needs to be put in a museum
Absolutely spotless!
Can't beat a old Ford 😍
Well rust can lol
Only bad thing with it being in that kind of shape is you need somewhere to store it now out of the way because you wouldn't want to be the one to let it rust now after all these years lol
That’s the problem everything needs kept dry simple as that.
What a find. Not much more to add to what's already in the comments but I'd like to see it back to original as much as you can. Another one for us 80's and 90's teenagers to relive.
Love to see it back to standard. Fantastic content this week. Hope you have a good break with Claire.
Rob, you have talked me into putting it back to original, so that’s the route to take! Brilliant find, I really want to see this done right👍🏼
The car needs putting back to stock especially how lovely the body is
Had one of these when I was at college, would be great to see this one back to standard as best as possible.
Lovely find, a real blast from the past 👌
wow can't believe how clean that car and engine bay is on a car of that age looks like its been well looked after and to get a mot without any advisory is another bonus as most old escorts are rust buckets no wonder your both over the moon to get another classic on the channel can't wait to see the end result 💯💯💯👍👍👍👍👍
Rob, if you need any parts for the MK4’s then there’s a chap near me who has got a couple of these for breaking I believe. Look up AS Car Dismantlers in Red Lodge near Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk.
Must be close to me too!! It’s a small world
I went to the old cafe/truck stop there last week and it seems to have closed down! Do you know if it's permanent? I remember when the road the cafe is on was the actual A11, we'd stop there on our way to Snetterton racing, good old memories from the 80's 👍
@scrapyardwarrior I hope Rob pins your comment as its is clearly the most valuable thing a Ford Escort Mk4 enthusiast can read especially if near the Midlands or South of England.
Ai can vouch for Anton at AS, he's got loads of Ford parts at his yard
@@aljanat5375 absolutely right mate, he’s a valuable source of spares for any Ford owner. I’ve dealt with him a couple of times and he’s a sound bloke.
I had a 1988 F reg 1.6 Ghia some 20 or so years ago, mine was mint too until an old man ran into the back of me in the middle of Birmingham. Great find Rob and Chris 👍🏻👍🏻
That car really deserves to be put back to stock. Once your finished it'll be absolutely mint.
Have got an unrestored mk3 XR3 myself, but the shell on that mk4 really is on another level. wow
35 years! That's it's whole life then, what a gem! 😀
Maybe speak to Ford UK. They must have an interest in preserving such an outstanding example.
are you kidding they are only interested in selling you the modern day equivalent bin from Saarlouis that runs by charging it up.A ford with a flat battery was common in the 80s too like it will be by 2030 lol
@@rampantram1 that's cynical, but they might still be interested.
@@locthebard its a 1.4 grandad and granny shopping car thats been lowered and its airbox mucked about with and some dogleg alloys stuck on it and recarco front seats put in it.its not high spec its very low car bar thats been preserved and its a survivor.I owned a mk3 for just 6 weeks i bought and sold motors back in the late 80s early 90s inc an xr3 and an i version. They were pants then and they are pants now.I wish no nostalgia trips for such inflated money. If it dont go like stink as standard with a v6 minimum in it i aint interested.
Yes, they may be interested in this car,
I've done work for BMW, VW and Honda at their UK headquarters, they all have a fleet of well preserved older motors and most of those aren't in such good condition
Ford Heritage Centre Dagenham might have advice or even parts. I don't have contact details for them and you can't visit as a member of the public.
Love to see it back to its original spec!
Had an F reg Orion in 1998 as my first car. 1.6 ! Loved it , there interior and under the bonnet are so similar! Nostalgia!
What a fantastic find. Restore it to original factory spec and it will be a real keeper.
👍👍👍
I had one of these back in the day and it didn’t look that. It had a severe case of rust worm. When those seats go up for sale I reckon there will be a bidding war. Superb car and video 👍👍
I had one of these when they were first launched as a company car. I think it was 1980 or 81. 2 door 1.3L in the same red as the one in the video. It attracted crowds when I parked it outside my house as it was the first one most people had seen and it was quite a radical design at the time. Great little car.
Wow, never seen one look that good. Original Rob, all day long. UNBELIVEABLE !!
I never ever in a million years would think one of those would survive as well as that has for all these years. It has to be put back to factory spec and im sure done right it would win plenty of awards at shows. I really hope this gets Chris's spider senses tingling as we know he loves to do them right.
Those “ Ninja star” alloy wheels suit the car very well...
You guys own You Tube! I had one, D687 OAT. You can't believe how clean that is. Please restore to original. It's lovely !!!
What an incredible find ! Can't wait to see the finished original car
The car deserves to be brought back to standard.
Totally agree. As standard will only go up in value.
They need to get those RS Turbo wheels off then and wack some steel ones on. If it's a popular or bonus it wouldn't have even had hub caps.
However a really well done RS Turbo will also go up in value too, regardless if the car was originally a 1.4 L
Love this channel its outstanding, I watch you 2 fix cars up 3 or 4 times the same cars, love it.
My first car was a MK 4 Escort, lovely to see this beauty
This needs putting back to original, fantastic example mk4 escort. Love it 👍
Well done again lads, that’s bringing back some memories, I imagine a firm will buy that who has a portfolio of classic old cars for filming, so going back to stock is the wise option.
You already know what you're gonna do with this, and original is most definately the way to go, especially if you want to sell and get top dollar for it!
What great finds, guys! Brings back happy memories of the G reg. XR3i I had in Scotland. It was the last car I owned before I emigrated to America. Definitely restore both of them back to original if possible. Can't wait to see how they turn out!
Be good to see it restored back to factory original spec.
So many people restore the more desirable models, and often these standard models either become donor cars or scrapped.
I’ve not seen a shell this clean and straight since the early 90s!
Chaps.. keep it standard, You know it’s the right thing to do 😉👍
That is so clean for an 80s ford. You've got to take it back to bog standard original
Bring it back to stock, classic.
Wow so mint this Mk 4 Escort factory fresh paintwork and dashboard an 80's classic best of luck guys
Originality all day long
Nice video guys
Lovely motors you got there rob and Chris love the old school fords
Absolutely back to standard for this one and go mental on the RS Turbo..........
Another great car...going to be hard to find parts to put back to original but that's what this car needs...hope you find everything you need.
Looking forward to seeing your next video on Friday evening
Putting it back to its originality would be the way to go in my opinion. And I bet fords heritage club would be interested in it if it was
Good idea
Absolutley amazing guys. The content is epic.
I had one of these as a company car back in 1986, same colour, two door so brings back some memories driving from pub to pub repairing fruit machines and juke boxes. Get it back to original spec for more memory experiences 😀
I’d love to see it become a ‘sleeper’ stock outside with RS interior and engine! 😍👍
Chris kept asking the guy if he had another shed full of Viva's.
When I first started as mechanic we would be welding up mk3 escorts on their first mot
Can't believe the condition it's immaculate cheers Rob and Chris 😎 😎
What I love about this channel is that you always restore your cars to the original factory spec,
My 9 year old daughter was in stitches when you said you are searching the inter web 😂
Lovely radiant red wow, I had a ford Sierra in the same colour and Ford had to respray the whole car as they couldn’t match it when they painted the bonnet at 18 months old ! Top car lads
so nostalgic, my Dad had a silver XR3i with pepper pot alloys. Classic Ford
Honestly lads ive been with you for a while now and Rob and Chris you are top lads and you're headed towards 200k subscribers, if anyone deserves it, you do. Thanks for the videos, i love nothing more than to get my petrol head on a see what you've done next.
