Seeing as this story likely takes place during the Sengoku period. Which makes Oni’s conflict actually relevant for that time period. As it was during a time in Japanese history, where lords sought large armies of peasants for their armies. And truly noteworthy ones could become proper samurai with enough promotion. It’s also important to remember the samurai were not as formal and lacked much of a code compared to the peaceful times of the Edo era. So along with Kazan being in a relevant time for his cause of rage, the samurai really wouldn’t have had much rules to hold him back.

This guy and his victims both got screwed over. I think this could have all been avoided even with the demon bloodline running in their family tree but the Entity exacerbated it by triggering a demon's two greatest weaknesses, wrath and pride.
Did u know the oni concept was created by a dbd player. One time I was looking at the dbd website and I found this person that made his own killer (this was before the oni came out). They made add ons and perks. The thing that I thought was cool was that one of the ultra rares addons was the same thing that the person made. Also the profile picture of the person was the spirit. I bet that person was so excited when they made a killer that they came up with.
christ, imagine living in a town as a child and hearing your parents tell you to be good or else the Oni Yamaoka will come for you and make you suffer. like you wake up in the middle of the night and look out your window: everyone in the village is asleep. suddenly you hear that terrifying, bloodcurdling shout. "URRRRA-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUGGHHHHHHHH!!!"
So at first he thought he was honouring the samurai code but after killing his dad he lashed out in anger and guilt? That's sort of similar to Siegfried in Soul Calibur who went insane with guilt after killing his own dad, deluded himself someone else had done it and went to find this nonexistent person to "avenge" his father.
You forgot and altered some details. -Kazan had a son and wife, whomst he had a questionable relationship with, he was no deadbeat father, he cared about bloodline and family to his core. But his temper made him prone to breaking things and most likely arguments. -After fighting and killing his father he actually passed out next to his father after his anguished screams out from the exhaustion, both physical and emotional. And he woke up to find that his Father's armor was stolen by looters. Further salting the wounds of Kazan's shame for his deed. -He spent days in disillusionment with his Father's voice taunting him and feeding into his wrath, now adding shame to fuel it along with his pride. He eventually wandering into the woods and finding the ancient temple with an Oni statue, but he didn't find inspiration from this, he heard it mocking him. Accusing him of being as fake as the samurai he slaughters. In a fit of denial induced rage he slashed against the stone repeatedly, desecrating it and everything it stood for. That's when in the back of his mind he was reminded that like this statue, The Oni monkier still slandered his family name and must be rectified. -After slaying the lord and his samurai, Kazan fought the farmers who loved that lord and killed many of them despite the numbers. He survived a number of assaults by the crowd, but he was surrounded and eventually exhausted from bloodloss caused by the circling farmers stabs with their pitch forks, scythes, and heavy clubs. It took an entire village of armed people several attacks to bring him down, and that's a distinction that is important to highlight just how much of a monster Kazan truly was in battle.
