I was the Magic Technical Consultant on this episode. It's one of my favorite episodes.
How wonderful. A good memory
Wow 😯 that's amazing! 🧙♂️💕
I looked you up. That’s a great memory to have.
I could watch Columbo all day
Me too
Sometimes I do. I have his whole series. I never get tired of him. And this clip is one of my favorites. Columbo Goes to the Guillotine.
That's funny! That's exactly how I feel about work.
Columbo humors him until he pulls out the groceries the 'suicidal' man bought just before he allegedly cut his own head off. He humors him again when the guy sticks to his suicide lie, only to prove him wrong yet again. I love the scenes where Columbo toys with the murderer. He lets them go on and on, and they either end up incriminating themselves or they become so off-balance that they make stupid mistakes.
You have truth
“Columbo is relentless, like being pecked to death by a duck.”
So he couldnt have decided to commit suicide after buying the cabbage???
@@victor.elkins Yes, back in 1989 a head of cabbage might of cost a whole buck! That is a huge financial sacrifice for sure! Or shall I say it was for 1989!
This has happened in a recent case that was sentenced yesterday of the Murdaugh Murders. Prosecutors let the defendant ramble on on the stand instead of asking for yes or no answers. The guy was so narcissistic he thought he could talk his way out of a double murder charge. Instead his own words were his downfall.
Prosecutor wasn't as classy or cute as Columbo unfortunately but they got the job done...lol
He really tried to convince Columbo that the guy decided to cut his own head off via guillotine by using psychic powers. That's next level crazy.
1:43 "Suicide? ... That's the most incredible thing I've ever seen." And you knew right there, Columbo's hammer was about to come down. Love this part of these episodes.
"There is an emotional mist in this place..."
"Aww... I'm sorry about that, I had big bowl of chili before I got here..."
"OH no sir, I'm saying straight out he was murdered." If they only had mic drops back then!
Columbo sees through this guys act like a child’s nursery rhyme.
The first seven seconds and I'm already laughing. That show was just perfection...😂
I'm generally not a fan of the revival, but this episode is pretty good.
Incidentally, you can certainly undo a 'phillips' screw with a flat-head screwdriver, as long a the flat blade is the same size as on the phillips, you just won't get as much purchase...
This was a terrific episode from one of the lieutenants later investigations..excellent choice on the channel 👏
Brilliant epidode. Up there with the classics.
Once again, the Lieutenant brilliantly toys with the murderer!!! 🎄⛄
"Are you intimating that Max Byson was, um, murdered?" "Oh no, sir, I'm saying straight out that the man was murdered." Can he be any more blunt?
I love it when he cuts the act. It’s such a payoff as he builds the game.
This episode is my favourite from the last era.
The murderer: I know what you’re about to say. “Just one more thing”!
Columbo: You really ARE a psychic!
It's sleight of hand. Thanks for the post.
So great, pretty good screenplay for this episode
One of my favorites of the later episodes!
Hello
I am Muslim Algerian. I like series Colombo because he’s very good as officer 👮♀️
One of the few decent 90s episodes
"Columbo cries wolf" and "Columbo goes to college" were great.
Columbo is alive and well on youtube
This was one of my favorite Columbo shows. I really enjoyed the killer character.
Great episode. The mind reader is a theatrical nut case!
I know I often buy beef roast and two headed cabbage and then feel very depressed after I get home. The blood may have spurted over to the carver thingy after the 'accident' which could have been caused when he picked up the wrong screw driver (for the third time), realized he had to get up again and punched the frame out of exasperation - unintentionally releasing the blade. Something of similar aspect happened to Epstein except with a bed sheet I am SURE of it 😛
😂
If you're in the UK at the time of writing Amazon have put episodes on their freevee service so you can watch without a prime subscription. Got the DVDs already but any excuse to watch them all over again 🙂
One of my favourite episode
Has anyone else caught the poster of The Amazing Randi in the background? Knowing his history, and within the context of this episode, I just found it kinda funny.
Generally speaking there's no reason why someone couldn't have bought groceries and then suicided.
It's pretty often encountered in indisputable suicides that the last time the person is seen, they seem happy, they make appointments, purchase various stuff etc.
Don't remember much about this episode probably because it is one of the 90's Columbo reboots which I didn't care for much. Is this the episode where the murderer tries to kill Columbo by using a magicians fake guillotine with the safety feature removed?
Yes it is
Yes. I designed the Guillotine and am screen credited as Magic Consultant
00:36 Nicee! 🔥🔥
I wish they would play the conclusion instead of leaving one wondering.
I don't know if they show episodes of Columbo on UA-cam, but this episode is called Columbo Goes to the Guillotine.
Great video, decent scene, good choice
I don’t think I saw this episode. How did Columbo end up catching the guy?
The show Monk would go on to re-use the corned beef and cabbage clue in another staged suicide -- the victim had some chicken marinating in the fridge.
Andy Breckman was pretty open about Columbo being an inspiration for Monk. 🙂
The most wonderful things I learned from Calumbo are let them know you are here to do a job . Let them assume you can be played . Show them the cards they think your fool enough to play then let them show there hand. After that play a full house in front of them and take them into custody. Like fishing let them swallow the hook and real them in .😁
"Columbo" not "Calumbo" and "reel" them in..... but good comment.
That other dude is really well spoken or maybe it's just the English accent
Anthony Andrews.

03:41 upper right corner screen on the wall/. there is a picture of a poster of the amazin randi.... one of the biggest debunkers of frauds like psychics , healers etc... he is famous for it and i never saw that they put that on the wall before untull right now.. lol love this so much
Notice the *Amazing Randi* poster on the wall? Randi spent most of his adult life proving psychics, autokinetics and other so-called 'dark arts' practitioners were 100% fake. That was a little bit of production management editorial!
Rest in peace, James Randi.
"Maybe you could help us by reading his mind.” .
"When we catch you- you can tell us about why you did it." .
What's the name of the English actor
I really like Columbo likes magic and even upholds the magicians code when required
9:11😆
Columbo😉
I always feel the episode loses something by immediately revealing Blake as a phony - wouldn’t it have added to the mystery to wonder whether he really IS psychic? Until Columbo busts him, that is.
No because there is no such thing as a phychic, there are ALL b*llsh*tters!
Then it's not nearly as funny when you see the military talking to him about secret missions
@@spiraleyes145 He tricked the military on the tests they gave him into thinking he was genuinely psychic, that's why they hired him...
@@artmallory970 Yes. And it's also very funny that he did. It is very funny that this man grifted the military.
Max Dyson ovah here.
