Thank you very much DJ Spares for sharing this testing, fault finding and repair process. I have been searching for solution for my Technics SL-D2 turntable for the same Running too fast problem. I will try to diagnose and find if any resistor or capasitor is faulty as you have explained.
I had the exact same symptom as you described, and using your excellent video as a guide, I followed the same circuit analysis with my DMM to determine that I had the same problem with C216. I replaced it and all is well. You saved me countless hours/days of frustration. I can't thank you enough. Great stuff. Keep it up.
Kev at DJ Spares is fantastic. If you have any faulty DJ equipment then Kev is the man to fix it for you.I have sent my prized processions which have been repaired to a very high standard and sent back to me in pristine condition.I would not go anywhere else for my DJ repairs.Fair price on repairs and in a quick turnaround time so check this guy out on ebay for all your parts and service needs.
Tengo una tornamesa Technics sl 5200 que tiene el mismo problema del sl 1200, este detalle de velocidad del ejemplo del sl 1200 lo puede aplicar a mi tornamesa.
My 1200MK2 has a different cap in the C216 location. It's a yellow colored 47 uF 10V. This board all original. Perhaps they switched some of these components when they released the 1210. This thing has a runaway speed issue also. I hope I don;t have to replace that drive IC. I'm a noob.
I have an SP-10 MK2 that had the same problem. It spun really fast at first then a few weeks later, it completely stopped spinning. Do you think the issue is caused by the same cap that perhaps died? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I have a SL-1210 i bought new in 1992. I haven't used it sense 1996, because the pitch control acts funny, the stock RCAs jacks are shot & pop up light/pitch control light don't work. The turntable powers up. How much would it cost to get repaired? Thanks!

looking for this cap is it on your ebay store?.. link please. TY.
@@kennethdante It is nothing special - 47 micro farad / 47uF at 16V - available at any electronic component store.

well done I like how you know how to test the paths on the PCB using the schematic. I can only locate an obvious burner and replace it,
Thank you gentlemen, you inspire me. Have a good one.
So satisfying!

What is the regular temperature range for the Q201 transistors? And if it is running too hot what is the likely component to blame for overloading it?
thank you so much for this video.
Had work done here, can't recommend the guy highly enough, don't go anywhere else!
Extremely helpful. I have an SL-1900 with a similar problem. Where would one locate the schematics for the motor board? Thanks for the great video.
Hi Bill, Drop me an email info@djspares.com and I'll send you the service manual :-)

Same fault here, but only C205 went to short circuit leaving AN6680 input stage without bias voltage.
What to be done in case of technics SL 1900
Same problem of high speed as yours. Pcb is very small compared to this one.
Great video but none of the mentioned has worked. Replaced - R221, C216, C201 and Q203. Checked AN6680 and AN6675 still have the problem
Check the detector coil for continuity
