Good video. Driving instruction and passing the test is very "car centric" in the UK. There should be greater emphasis on the particular aspects of other road users (cyclists, motorcyclists, HGVs, horse riders, emergency vehicles etc) so agree with the sentiments and aims of this video. Also...I rode part of that route last weekend (!)
Great video. A tip that someone told when lifting a heavy bike off a side stand easily is to turn the handlebars fully right locked, so opposite the side stand and then try to lift it. It does not look like it makes a difference but it definitely does. Also did you know that the z400 is back on sale in the UK so your bike is a current model again and costs more now 👍
I've seen videos of people doing that, it looks useful. Yup I saw they brought out a new euro 5 model. I can't tell if they changed anything other than the colours. I think there was a white and red colour that I wasn't a huge fan of. Has to be kawasaki green :p
Right foot on the rear brake...will give control at slow speed, stopping & starting...Then left foot down... Exception : saw a motorcycle cop drop it because he had stopped on a side slope & his left foot didn't reach the ground... hilarious 😅.
Yup. It's very different. I will say after enough time the fatigue isn't as bad. It's not like driving places, but I can day after day of miles now, that would have really worn me out when I first started. Also, you are so close to 1K subs. Hopefully this pushes you over the top.
Good points raised in your video. one other thing a lot of car drivers don’t understand is saccades ie what a car driver sees of a motorcycle approaching. Also good for motorcyclist to understand.
@@ayserides Which is why weaving across the lane when you see a car waiting to come out of a junction is a good idea - they are more likely to pick up the lateral movment and also it makes you stand out from the backgrounnd - your running lights can be invisible if you are in front of a bigger vehicle.
Riding hard on a twisty road burns more calories than ridng a push bike! You are also constantly using your core muscles so these are also reasons why it is so tiring. If you brake hard with just your hand on the brake lever you will feel your muscles working.
I just discovered your channel and i think you are doing a great job with the videos! i'm a new rider and as a begginer in this world i find really exciting to do the tipical greeting with your hand to other bikers,i just noticed that here in Spain you can do it easly with your left hand because we ride at the right side of the road. Do you do it in England? and how? maybe i'm asking a dumb question
Good video. I can't help but analyse others riding in some vids. 1:58 car moving right as other car turns woke me up. Decent overtake at 4:00 I see confidence returning again. Hard to tell when lifesavers used/ considered. Positoning in bends improving but not always consistent. Pace seemed a lot better & riding more fluid 👍....I am far from perfect & proactively find learning points in my own riding. Mindful also that you passed a bit earlier than me. I appreciate this was not a demo ride and vid is for drivers but thought you might be interested in the feedback ...delete &/or ban me if an issue or if it detracts from the great vid 😉
A lot of the time cars will see a bike/bicycle and think they can "squash" past them, but it always makes me flinch. I need to work on that consistency! Some of the surface on this road is quite bad, and getting worse, which isn't ideal. Thanks for the analysis/advice! It's always welcome :)
Gotten to a point where I unconsiously press the indicator knob to cancel it. Whenever I make a turn, check my shoulder or mirror, or when I'm bored😁, I'll press it. Downside is I also press my thumb when in a car or on bicycle 😅
Just wanted to add a few things to your video. I am a relatively new rider and when I started riding I could not tolerate wind on a highway speed. That was a really big issue for me, luckily I bought an adv looking bike and there were large touring windscreens on the market for my bike. When I replaced the windscreen, I was so happy. Unfortunately nobody says that wind might be so annoying and you should consider buying a bike based on its wind protection. One more thing, if you want to ride a bike in a cold weather (below 45F), I would recommend to get heated gloves and seat together with warm gears. PS I am surprise that motorcyclists do not greet each other when they are passing by in the UK, we do that all the time in the US :)
I would also add that filtering is perfectly legal (yes, including the oncoming lane if safe) so don't get so upset about it. You get to sit in traffic in your comfortable chair with your heater/AC, listening to LBC and scratching your intimate parts. We get rained on and frozen/roasted, but we get to go around you. 😁
Tell that to the man who was angrily shouting at me while I filtered that he had it all on video, like sweet if I give you my email address can you send it to me? 😂
Load of info there....one thing I didnt consider now that i,m looking for my next bike after passing my test is the fuel consumption jump from around 90mpg on a 125 to 40mpg on the bigger bikes.
I commute through London on a CBF125, I'm not kind to it at all and still get 120mpg. I'm convinced that if I ran out of petrol one solid fart into the tank would get me to the nearest petrol station
Stumbled onto your channel when I was looking at mesh jackets. Very impressed with your style & content. Love the educational aspects, your confidence and the way you spread the love for riding bikes. If I can ask a personal question (maybe seb) what did your friends and family think when you started riding? Very OK to ignore this question if it’s tmi. 🫵💪
I think my family would probably prefer if I didn't ride because they think its risky, but I think they like seeing how happy it makes me too. I'm not sure if I really got any strong reactions from friends now that i think about it. Most probably think its quite an interesting hobby

Yup. The more empathy for and understanding of other road users we have, the safer the roads will be. Its a great little route!
Nicely done! Stay safe out there!

Hopefully non bikers will watch this. If so:
Please don't creep at junctions
Please don't roll at junctions
Thank you
Please don't do that little creepy creep and then act surprised when I toot or swerve 😭
Rolling at junctions.. huge pet hate! Great point there

I can do a lot more miles now than before. Sometimes I wish I had cruise control though! Yup the sub count is crazy. I never expected it
Your videos are so well put together 👌🏽
Thank you! :D

Yup, its hard to judge the speed of a motorbike when you're looking at it head on

@@13thearl yup, good tip
Some fantastic advice put together here. Great stuff, and a nice reminder for some of us, too. :)
Oh, 2:26 IS THAT A KIA SPORTARZHAAAY?!
My good sir, I believe that is indeed a Kia Spor-Tah-Zhe

I used to ache so much when I first started riding. It's definitely physically demanding

We usually nod to each other, but not everyone nods back which is a bit of a shame!

I'll click it every now and then too. It's so ingrained 😂
Mentally tiring too having to be so observant
Agreed!

Some bikes are much more efficient than others. I miss my 125 for that :p
