    Bigger schoolies and smaller keepers have so much strength and aggression for their size vs the big cows. A 24" schoolie on a 6'6" inshore rod or 7' surf rod with a small reel and 10 pound braid with a 4" popper is so much fun.

    I. Need. That. Buckie. 🤣 man, I don’t own too many of them, but a bucktail that has a teaser on it already is absolute gold! The colors are great too! Glad you had a great outing, James! Yeah I love fighting blues, but it’s time for the bass.
    Say.. have you considered fishing tautog? Season opens up soon! Tight lines 🤘🏼

    Great video. I'm trying to get into surf casting but haven't had any luck yet. How far out do you have to get your lure, over the waves or are you catching them I'm the breaking waves? Any advice I'd love to hear please. Me and my son were at democratic point last night from 7pm-1030 and nothing.

    • @jamesschlickoutdoors
      @jamesschlickoutdoors  5 років тому +1

      I always cast my lure way out there, but a lot of times i catch the fish really close right at the breakers lol. But my advice is just keep working ground. Fan cast in your spot so you work both close and far. Once you start getting bites you'll be able to zone in more where exactly they are feeding. Also try to match your lure to what kind of bait they are feeding on. Like for instance there's a lot of bunker/peanut bunker on the south shore so a lure like a swim shad or sp minnow may work better to imitate the bait. Don't let the skunked nights get to you either, it happens to the best of us. Just keep at it, put in the work, and take note when you do catch so you can figure out the patterns why you caught(tides, wind direction, moon phase, bait, what lures produced fish).

      @@jamesschlickoutdoors Bro thanks so much. I always thought I was supposed to fish the incoming tide but I heard a few people doing the opposite.

    Hey. Love your videos. Do you think you can mention where you are when you get out there? I like fishing LI but I'm from Brooklyn and I spend a lot of time driving around trying to figure out where to go.

    • @fishermansmobileweighstati3645
      @fishermansmobileweighstati3645 5 років тому +2

      No need for you to head out east. I'm originally from Brooklyn and you have very good fishing there. I suggest you stop in Bernie ' in Sheepshead Bay and ask them for some suggestions. They will be more than happy to help a customer.

      @@fishermansmobileweighstati3645 I do, I have. I frequent Bernie's ❤. I just like going different places. I was hoping to not have to hunt down so much.

      @@ClassicSamNYGM I miss the fishing back west. If you're looking to expand your horizons, pass into Causeway in Wantagh. They should be able to help you out. Good luck.
