  • Capturing false albacore on the fly is an exhilarating pursuit, but the true test lies in hooking them from the shoreline-an endeavor reserved for the most adept fly fishing enthusiasts. Dive into this video to witness firsthand my techniques for landing these elusive fish and the gear I rely on during the eagerly anticipated yet brief, adrenaline-fueled season.
    Filmed on Long Island this video should get you going for the albie season, that's around the corner.

    Amazing video, Catching Albies from a boat is difficult enough so I can't imagine how hard from the rocks! You're a hell of a Fly Fisherman, but you were making me nervous fishing in Sandals on the rocks! Great job!

      Fishing in shorts and sandals for albies is the best, but not for everyone, the rocks can be real slippery. Thanks for the kind comments and best of luck this season!

    One thing i learned from fishing for albies from the rocks is that it is almost impossible to keep them from rocks and you will lose gear.

    Great film! Well done sir, well done. We catch them from shore in Croatia aswell, pretty big ones up to 13kg, but fly fishing for Albies, wow! That is just perfect. Keep up the good work, you have a new subscriber. Greetings from Croatia.

    Subscribed! Thank you for such a good video! I have just taken up Surf Fly fishing and Albies are my goto fish to catch. My goal is to catch them from the surf. Thank you so much for all the helpful tips! I'm sure they will be applicable to Albies on the NC coast. It's about that time here is what I've been told. October is the magical month so hopefully I'll land one! Thanks again for such winderful content!

      @@SergioDiazFishing I don't use spinning rods. I am strictly a fly fisherman. Looking forward to catching my first albie. Thank you again for all the great information you provided in your video.

    I really like your kind of fishing from shore.How much backing took the most tough albies?

    • @SergioDiazFishing
      @SergioDiazFishing  4 роки тому

      How much backing an albie will take from the rocks depends on a couple of things, one how quickly can you stop him with out breaking it off and also in the direction he runs, with the tide or against it, but in general I don't think I've had more than 100 yards out at anyone time, normally much less than that. If you can get a fly reel that spools 200yds of 20-25lbs backing you should be all set and thank you for the kind comment. Tight lines!

    When fish are not showing use a full sink line watch your albie numbers from shore sky rocket!
    It’s usually the only line I fish from jetties shore better in the wind to.
    And You’ll out fish most.

    What weight gear you using for the shore and boat fishing 8 ? or 10 ? and how much 30ib backing ?

    • @SergioDiazFishing
      @SergioDiazFishing  3 роки тому +1

      From shore I prefer a 9wt, with at least 200yds of backing. Best of luck!
