I never even questioned this until i played gow Ragnarok and spiderman 2. I changed my HDR clipping with the sun like you said in first party exclusives to barely visible and then completely blended in for 3rd party games. What a difference that made specifically for the 3rd party games. I have an hdr600 ips panel gets about 700 nits. no hgig or that sorta thing. Thanks a alot!
Unbeliavable content my man. Discovered your Channel today and subscribed imediatly. Searching for the best ps5 hdr settings with my new x90l brought me here. Can you give me some tipps on how to get the best out of it? I don't have big knowledge about tv settings. What does tone mapping do? Does it overdrive ps5 hdr adjustment? Thanks in advance and have a great day 😊
Hi thanks, Tone Mapping adjusts the brightness and visuals to be visible in the supported range on TV but can also cause inaccurate brightness levels, for sony TVs it's usually recommended to calibrate with tone mapping off, then after calibration using gradation preferred. you can find much more info about your TV here: www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x90l-x90cl
another flaw of fc 24 is that as you play in various situations the colors become darker or lighter on their own for example: you take the corner kick and it gets darker then after a while everything becomes lighter but it doesn't do this in all stadiums
Thanks! Probably 11 clicks are close to your TV peak (around 500 nits) if you lost details in the game (blending the sun and stuff) try 10 clicks but Samsung tone mapping is always on. for step 3 keep it on 1 click (for first-party games) or 0 if you don't want to change every time.
Hello again. Thank you for your response. You had told me to go with 11 clicks with samsung Q60B and i did it but the sun was still visible so i went up to 15 clicks. There it becomes invisible. Is that correct? Should i leave it there?
What settings should i use for the C1? Two steps till the sun dissapears? And the last step on zero? My C1 got 760 nits. 15 steps 940 nits 14 steps 840 nits 13 steps 720 nits. The sun dissapears with 15 clicks. One step before are 14 clicks. And what when i use DTM ON like in Wukong? This game got no HDR and it's to dark. Do i must calibrate it with DTM ON again in the PS5 menu and how? Thank you.
@@DanielZH Hi 🙂 I haven't had much time lately for UA-cam unfortunately. Are you covering Tekken 8? What City are you in? Sorry I think you told me already but I forgot. Are you on Discord?
@@GamingTech-UA-cam Hi! Yeah, I noticed that, I'm in Austria but I think you live in Australia, right? I'm skipping Tekken 8 as youtube revenue is low and doesn't cover buying too many new games 😅 if you noticed I'm covering Controller settings mostly haha
Exactly I feel you, the RPM is really low in gaming and it's a pain to get every new game, even though I try to sell them afterward yet it's not enough 😶🌫️
This goes against every recommendation I’ve seen from channels like HDTVTest, ClassyTech, and GamingTech. Not saying you’re wrong but these guys are pretty reliable.
It seems odd to me that you have to adjust for black on an OLED screen, or even a decent mini LED screen, since they are automatically starting from very dark as a base point (pixels off). It seems like you should only have to adjust for brightness ceiling. In future perhaps they should incorporate time of day options like night light settings on phones and Windows. The eyes adapt to see darkness better at night, so it seems like it could auto-adjust black level a little following sunset. Or TVs could do that..
I really like this content.... I usually leave step 3 100% black because I have an LED TV without local dimming, so if I don't leave everything black, the colors seem more "washed".
HI! Thank you very much for the video it was very well done and was very helpful, I have a question, but regarding film production, what procedure should be followed for calibration of HDR? I have a Panasonic mz1500 and I use professional 2 for films and the tone mapping is active so I have more clicks for the hdr than the ps5, A thousand thanks!
And what about a 2k tv samsung unf7500 ?. I am instered in the best hdr for most games. And i have over ear headphones, sounds better if i use it directly in the tv output or in the ps5 controller ? This channel is so goood !!!
I couldn't find any info regarding the HDR brightness of this TV in Rtings, try following to barely visible and 1 more, for the audio, the TV output may give you lower latency but again, I couldn't find any info regarding the input delay of audio jack, test and see which gives you a better sound.
Hi, due to a check I had from Rtings, it's better to be 1 step higher than barely visible for your TV in step 1 and 2. as it sometimes dims itself for smaller windows and brighter once its a bit higher.
@@DanielZH I don't think this is correct due to you can't accurately calibrate HDR on samsung tvs as you cant turn off DTM on samsung tvs even when you select HGIG (Game HDR) as DTM is always on, you will just over clip the highlights if you click until the sun disappears. For Q90t tvs it peaks around 1300/1400 nits so I'll suggest having it on 16/17 click on window 1 and 2 and 0 on window 3.
@@cholahan4327That's also true, as there's a tone mapping on Samsung TVs, it'll never be the most accurate to give advice based on the numbers, but visuals maybe.
i guess the takeaway is, HDR gaming isnt quite consistent yet from game to game, and its frustrating sometimes, since i jump from game to game frequently, and sometimes having that one game that doesnt look good in HDR wihtout a tweak in calibration settings really annoys me, up to a point where up until i finish the game i just play in SDR (especially if the game doesnt have an ingame turn on and off HDR setting), but if the Devs actually master the game with great HDR, mann it looks amazing
Hey Danial, you said we should look for UA-cam Videos if we want to setup a game with ingame HDR Settings. I can‘t find anything for Baldur‘s Gate3 (PS5)! Do you have a recommendation or can you make a video about it yourself?
Can you do one for HDR Always On system setting for games that don’t support HDR? I use it for PS4 games. Sometimes I’ll have DTM On or HGIG depending on the game. Curious if the system level calibration makes a difference.
It over brightens the picture usually, as long as your TV looks bright enough, HGIG is the most accurate calibration (and if the game is also made based on that)
hi daniel have you noticed that in fc 24 in the animated scenes like the end of the first half, the close-ups of the players' faces shake a little? It's imperceptible but noticeable
Hi Daniel, Great video as always mate!! Once we calíbrate it with hgig option, we remove it or not? And what about Sony’s tv, which mode we use for calibration and which one for playing?
Hi, for most first-party games, HGIG is good, some games like FF16 are dark so in that case you can switch to DTM, for sony, I'd recommend calibration with Gradation preferred.
@@DanielZH Soo Whats your opinion about calibrating with tone mapping off and then puting gradation prefered on for playing? I always done that from what Ive seen
@@Canos-9That might be similar to calibration with HGIG, then playing with DTM (Half or less) but since I don't have a Sony TV to test with measurements now, I can't tell if it's a good idea!
Anyway dear guys I have decided that I will use HDR with all 3 suns almost visible for all games and it is quite satisfactory. I am talking about a TV with a not very powerful HDR, a 6 year old Samsung LED have a nice day
@@DanielZH I hope so too, however the difference of playing with HDR and without the important thing is that it is noticeable so even if it's not perfect it's fine
@@DanielZH anyway, if not I'll try to do it, first sun barely visible, second sun a little more visible and third sun totally invisible......non-existent
Hi, it seems 550nits and lower based on Rtings .com, I'd guess 11 steps will match and 12 will blend. for step 3 value 0 for other games and 1 for the games that follow PS5 system and not black level raise.
Hi bro , i have asus tuf gaming vg289q monitor and a want to know, am i supposed to calibrate hdr on ps5 like that: First step until logo disappears Second the same And third darkest level Cause i watched too many videos, and all of them are calibration for tv, that is why i wanna to know do i need to follow this instrucitions for monitor
Hi! I like your video very much! Good work! I have samsung qn91b (1700 nits). I have switchted dynamic ton mapping off, but after that sun in 1 and 2 step is very visible, not visible as in your videos is a maximum value. Where can be a problem? Best regards
So Daniel you sugest for Sony TVs to calíbrate HDR ps5 menu, with gradation prefered and then What? We changed to off or we let it on gradación prefered?
So, what if your TV has HLG and doesn’t have the other DTM or HGIG and it has a max peak full screen brightness of 500nits but you still see most highlight detail at 10000nits, what is going on? Is it tone mapping? My manifacturer (philips) says the TV doesn’t have tone mapping… what are your recommended settings for me? I can use a contrast booster thats called HDR Plus and it boosts peak contrast and highlight detail and color and fixed crushed blacks, also don’t know what that feature actually is. My TV is a Philips PUS8517/12
Hi, I did some fast research, even though they say there's no tone mapping, there is, otherwise it should clip highlights on 400 nits if you need to go to the highest and change TV settings to get a more accurate picture, I'd say do it, as I didn't find info about it in Rtings to help, but what I found is using "MOVIE HDR" is better than "VIDID HDR" that's too blue and inaccurate colors, you can still see which settings max peak brightness while not losing details, using your eyes could be a good tool on this TV.
@@DanielZH thanks for the help! I always tinker with my settings on the TV being that I really enjoy calibrating and adjusting on a game to game basis, thanks for your insight 💪 So I guess if there is a 35% overall white clipping on display at this HDR Plus maximum setting then I should put in 400nits peak instead being 9 clicks on calibration correct?
@@EverythingPS5Pro I'd recommend testing it per game bases, once for first-party games like GOW and once in other games, as long as you can see the details in street lights for example in Spider-man 2, you're fine, once it gets glow-ish and too bright, then it might be too much, but going lower is not recommended.
Hi Daniel, if i want to use dtm all the time. What should be my settings in games that dont support ps5 hdr menu . Should i put 4000 nits or 1000 nits?
Hi, it really depends on the game you play, every game may work differently, I have a playlist of the games HDR I tested here: ua-cam.com/play/PLfzrQ3H5ECSZYy3dFysAvz8Tq1jIer-_m.html
This video was recommended to me after trying to find calibration methods. So, in some games, it has gotten darker in some areas than before calibration. I have noticed these are games where your characters are given a lamp . Like in lies of P. Does that meant its normal for some dark areas because of the lamp mechanic? Of so, did that mean my pre calibration settings were off when i could see areas without a lampm
Typically if the game follows PS5 settings and the TV has a good HDR PQ EOTF Tracking, it works fine as showed here, otherwise you're correct, your TV settings and tech affects it a lot and these settings may not work unless the TV is fully calibrated to not tone map etc.
Hi,slightly unrelated topic but I have an lg oled and the panel looks appropriately dark on 49 brightness rather than the standard 50.What do you suggest ?

I'm sorry Daniel if I insist but what do you mean when you say blend? that the sun must disappear completely? And therefore absolute white without the sun and in black when you say absolute black even there without the sun being visible at all, right? Are these settings also good for fc 24? Good night
Some of them need some changes in the game, like Callisto has an option to fix black level raise, but for the console yes it's good for them as long as they work fine.
@@DanielZH but to have a good black level, it's better to lower it than raise it, right? otherwise if we raise it everything becomes a little foggy as if there were fog
However, I know that in games there are options inside too but in that case the pleasantness is subjective, I only meant the option of the PS5 of the 3 suns
@DanielZH Resuming if we have HGIG option we calíbrate with the sun instructions, and if we dont have that option (i.e Sony TV) we use the clicks/nits 10% window display of our tv. Thanks
Struggling to get this right, I have the A95L, and when I open up the HDR setting on PS5, setting the clicks to 17 on the first screen causes the sun to disappear, but then if you wait a moment, the screen darkens a bit allowing you to clearly see the sun. If I were to raise it more to 20 clicks, the sun becomes very very faint. The next page takes more clicks than the first to make it almost disappear. At what point do I set the setting for? As soon as the screen loads, or after it’s dimmed?
Sorry, I forgot to mention the first time I calibrated this was with tone mapping set to off. Then after I calibrated with PS5s calibration tool, I changed tone mapping to gradation preferred, so I think all is good.
hai bro.. you right about HGIG its accurate but you ever testing DTM on LG C2 callibrate alone ? not hgig first and change to DTM. i want hear you opinion. dont be wrong i know its will be no accurate but please testing it.. thanks. sukses selalu (from indonesia)
Hi thanks, yes I tested that, there's one thing I'd consider: If you play on a bright room, DTM might be a better choice, as HGIG may look much darker on average, but for my own situation (only 100nits light in the room) I'd prefer HGIG. it also depends on the game, some games aren't bright enough like FF16.
hi daniel, are you okay? listen I saw in the video that you were talking about 14 clicks 1 step, 14 clicks 2 step and 0 clicks in the 3rd step. But is it the same for those who don't have the hgig option and don't have the tone mapping option? the maximum hdr peak of my tv is 800nits
Hi, I'm fine thanks, that was mainly in case of TVs that don't have tone mapping, otherwise, you may need to go higher until it blends. especially in Samsung TVs.
A bit unrelated to this video but was just wondering what you have set for the RGB range? Is it set to auto or limited on the PS5? Just wondering as many conflicting opinions on this and I do sometimes see limited as a better picture when gaming. LG C2 btw
Hi, the Automatic does the job correctly on TVs most of the time, that's why I don't change it, but there's an easy way to know when to switch, which I showed here: ua-cam.com/video/0eC3bfQPzgU/v-deo.html
@@DanielZH it's best to switch to full when gaming in hgig it will enhance brightness and take away the problem of the picture bieng to dark it did for me on a lg c2 and i mainly play cod on auto/limited it was unplayable before untill setting console and tv to full
Hi , i have Tcl miniled c805 and i notice in RGB limited HDR , highlights Is more vibrant... But i have input delay , in rgb complete input lag Is ok , but the HDR Is Better in limited..
So im watching Lotr 4k hdr on ps5. All bright scene is perfext and dark scenes. But the scene in the forrest is seemes a little too dark. What can i do? Is it just me?
I have lg ultragear 2k gaming monitor(2023) model with hdr 10 and when i turn it on it has way less colors on ps5 compared to sdr but on pc it looks so much better and colorful. Do u know why this is? Is it ps5 issue or settings issue?
Hi, try to deactivate adaptive sync, and if you still have this issue, check if changing the RGB range can fix it, it's a PS5 issue with some monitors that it either becomes too contrasty in HDR when it's set to 4K or washed out, try 1440p 60FPS but 1440p 120FPS HDR probably causes that issue, right?
15 clicks on first and second calibration screen and 2 clicks from left darkest point to the right...i use PS 4 Pro with SONY X90J so i hope it will be the same with my future PS 5 ✌🏻....PS - i never watch or play games in a complete dark room so 2 clicks are enough on the third calibration screen
@@DanielZHI've tried zero clicks on the third calibration screen and don't like it....i never play games or watch movies in a complet dark room so zero clicks is wrong.
Hi can you please tell me how many clicks for samsung q80b tv? For first option I make the sun disappear completely, and in option 2 i do 15 clicks before sun disappears or blends to the respective white background color, and in option 3 black level the sun completely blends and disappears at 15 steps same as the option 2. Is this the right pattern for adjusting hdr?
Hi, it's a good way overall, as all Samsung TVs have tone mapping, there must be an actual measurement and adjust based on that, for step 3 of 3 keep it 0 clicks and it should work fine in most cases, if you got issues for darks, go 1 step higher.
I got the A95L and Use the Auto Calibration! Im Not a friend of this accurate Settings like from HDTV Test and something Else! HGIG from my old C1 are way to Dark 😬 for me
@@DanielZH i don’t Buy the Flagship Tv for SDR everything is Fine my Friend! I would say many People don’t like the Ultra Dark Settings that are accurate yes 😬 But Looks very dull/dim in many many Games! Many Gamer Love the Samsung Colors me Not 😬 is Personal preference in the Most cases! Sorry for my Bad englisch 🤣
So question, if the PS5 is following the system level calibration for first party games. Should i set my Sony X90K's hdr tone mapping to off, set it up in the system settings hdr calibration and just let the ps5 handle all the tone mapping? Wouldnt that make the most sense?
Hi, it's best to have tone mapping off in TVs in general if they give you the option! and only use them if there's an issue, like when the mirage is too dark on default calibration, tone mapping would help. I'm not sure about X90K but you can Try this HDR Tone Mapping: Gradation Preferred Peak Luminance: High and see how it looks, however I don't have an X90K so there might be other settings you can change!
@@DanielZH Yeah, with tone mapping off the calibration is somewhere in between the 12th to 13th click(so 630-730 nits), with gradation preferred I have to set it to 19 clicks which is like 1,700nits. It looks mostly the same, maybe just a bit less bright with tone mapping off. But I guess I'll have to test some games out and see what I like best.
Interesting, somebody said to calibrate it like this. Tone mapping off, click the first two screens up until the sun completely disappears. Set the third all the way down as far as it will go. Then set tone mapping to gradation preferred. Done.
@@fall-neckthetallneck2977Exactly, as PS5 steps are huge sometimes, it may look better in that case, but from what I tested so far on many Tonemapped TVs, they all look alright, but see which looks better to your eyes without losing details!
@@fall-neckthetallneck2977oh, that may give you an effect like calibrating with HGIG and then playing on DTM, which overbrightens everything and you'd lose details! I wouldn't recommend that generally! haha
Hi, I'd always recommend following the sun until it's barely visible or blended as each unit may have a slightly different output and may not be good to use numbers, but instead, visuals. also does this TV support HGIG or it uses a Tone Mapping system?
I can't find a sweet spot with my 55x90j. It blends out at 19clicks, but that seems to be too much. Also tried 15 clicks, but it was too dark. It actually looks better with HDR turned off. (Max bright, 90 contr, grad preferred)
Hi, X90J has similar performance on both HDR and SDR, so you won't lose much in brightness, but color gamut and more steps, on which game did you test it? not every game has a good HDR implantation.
@DanielZH I think I have it on 17/17/0 now. I was used to playing on the brighter side of settings(TV and PS5), but it was just too much. Things look way better now, but it's still a bit too dark. Or too black'ish I should say. The brightness is fine but there's a high level of black in it. I'm playing GTA5, The Division 2 and Hell let loose atm
Hi Daniel, do you know why my ps5 calibration changes by itself? I do the calibration with x clicks to the point where the icon is barely visible but when i check another day if the calibration is still alright i see that instead of having the icon barely visible as i left it with x clicks, suddenly the icon is totally visible turning my previous calibration wrong. Idk why but it seems like i have two “good” calibrations totally different from each other
Hi, what is your TV model? it might be due to some ECO and OLED Protection settings, or may have different reasons, in your case I'd recommend going 1 step higher in 1 & 2 so the sun blends and won't cause under-exposure later.

I’ve just given up on hdr gaming. I have Panasonic oled from last years line up. Superb tv with an incredible picture. HDR movies look amazing. Gaming tho I find underwhelming and just not worth it. I’ve dialled the tv in for sdr for ps5 and xbsx. Not missing hdr at all.
Hi! How many clicks on each screen when you calibrate HDR would you recommend? For example screen 1…I start at the bottom, how many times should I push up on the D pad to get the correct colours. Cheers!
Hi, what is your TV model exactly? that's what affects it. there are 3 cases: PlayStation exclusive games: Make it barely visible. Other games: go 1 step higher than barely visible, and 0 clicks for step 3 of 3. Other Games with in-game settings: Search on UA-cam.
@@IM_A_BLIND_KIDI see, as it has an IPS panel with a typical contrast I'd recommend playing on SDR, that should usually look better (in 99% of the games for this screen at least), and you won't lose much!

obrigado, para jogos não exclusivos geralmente fazem o sol desaparecer, mas alguns jogos não têm um bom HDR, se você ver um jogo que fica melhor em SDR, basta desligar o HDR desse jogo (como Assassin's creed mirage)
I have a Vizio MQ7 (60Hz only despite supporting ALLM and VRR). HGIG is called "Game HDR" on my TV. Setting it to On makes the "click" behavior much different than when it's off - it takes less clicks in Game HDR to achieve "peak brightness" than when I have Game HDR off (which switches to DTM instead) - in which case I basically have to turn it up all the way up to max before reaching "peak brightness" in the calibration menu. My TV caps at 600 nits. I only use my PS5 for exlcusive games (both first-party and third-party like Final Fantasy). So should I use Game HDR with sun blending into background (since I don't think I can get "Just visible" with Game HDR) or should I go with DTM and achieve "Just visible" as there is finer grain adjustment with DTM? Also, I don't want to have to keep going into the HDR Menu every time I want to play a game - that's annoying. I use Dolby Vision for Games on my Series X, so Game HDR is disabled anyways and it's seemingly of a non-issue on that end.
Hi, in your case Game HDR would be a better choice as DTM will always tone map and won't let you reach the needed brightness especially if the game can't go as high as max (10K nits) For games, some games like FF16 typically look better on SDR, I think it could be fine to switch HDR depending on the game and how it looks.
hi daniel, are you okay? I see you no longer respond to my messages, I hope you're well, listen but in the fc 24 settings how much should I increase the nits? I put the maximum which is equivalent to 100 or half in the video settings of the game?
Hi, I was a little busy these two days, for FC 24 once you calibrate on PS5, even if the game is on 100 it looks ok, but to be more accurate you can clip both squares (start from 0).
@@heatwaveps5 it depends on the game mostly and how it uses the PS5 settings, that's why I showed 2 different calibrations in this video, but about being OLED or IPS or VA or QLED, it works similarly in terms of peak brightness test I showed in PS5 test for each step. doesn't change.
The best game for calibration is Dirt 5. You will see yourself if you had too many or too few clicks on the PS5 calibration menu. The Dirt 5 reel is showing clouds, blue sky, the sun etc. Test it :)
Hi, 9 clicks is around 400 nits, HDR Peak 50% Window for your TV is: 301 cd/m² (Rtings says) So the first step it's normal to blend on 8 or 9 as the TV is less bright in full white luminance, but step 2 of 3 should take 12-13 clicks, right? if yes, then you're fine, if not, there might be some aggressive ABL even for 10-25% window size enabled on your TV.
@@OddThomasPL I'm not sure if it's due to ABL, are you sure about all other TV and Eco settings? They can also affect peak Brightness, ABL shouldn't be that aggressive typically on step 2, but I don't have a C9, so I'm unsure if it's normal or not!
Yes,eco is disabled. Tv is calibrated in HDR,SDR and DV. I follow your channel, Gaming Tech and HDTV test but my results are far worse than yours. It's frustrating:)

Happy 2024! Can you please tell me how many clicks in steps 1,2 and 3 on ps5? I have Samsung Q60B 55'
Can tell me the settings for gow ragnarok, ghost of tsushima and fc25 pls?
What settings should i use for the C1?
Two steps till the sun dissapears?
And the last step on zero?
My C1 got 760 nits.
15 steps 940 nits
14 steps 840 nits
13 steps 720 nits.
The sun dissapears with 15 clicks.
One step before are 14 clicks.
And what when i use DTM ON like in Wukong? This game got no HDR and it's to dark.
Do i must calibrate it with DTM ON again in the PS5 menu and how?

This goes against every recommendation I’ve seen from channels like HDTVTest, ClassyTech, and GamingTech. Not saying you’re wrong but these guys are pretty reliable.
as it's dependent on each game, there's not a single set-up for all games!
Cant find classy tech video about this
Make sure you have hgig on first otherwise the calibration won't work

It seems odd to me that you have to adjust for black on an OLED screen, or even a decent mini LED screen, since they are automatically starting from very dark as a base point (pixels off). It seems like you should only have to adjust for brightness ceiling.
In future perhaps they should incorporate time of day options like night light settings on phones and Windows. The eyes adapt to see darkness better at night, so it seems like it could auto-adjust black level a little following sunset. Or TVs could do that..
Yes, sounds very interesting, and that's one of the reasons why some suggest re adjusting HDR if your lighting condition have changed!
I really like this content.... I usually leave step 3 100% black because I have an LED TV without local dimming, so if I don't leave everything black, the colors seem more "washed".
Tenho uma oled, quantos cliques?
Hi Danial, how is everything? I have a question, what ps5 calibration settings should i do with a samsung q90t? Thx in advance!
Hi, due to a check I had from Rtings, it's better to be 1 step higher than barely visible for your TV in step 1 and 2. as it sometimes dims itself for smaller windows and brighter once its a bit higher.
@@DanielZH thx! Will try this tonight!

Glad you like them! Thanks so much, Christopher!
i guess the takeaway is, HDR gaming isnt quite consistent yet from game to game, and its frustrating sometimes, since i jump from game to game frequently, and sometimes having that one game that doesnt look good in HDR wihtout a tweak in calibration settings really annoys me, up to a point where up until i finish the game i just play in SDR (especially if the game doesnt have an ingame turn on and off HDR setting), but if the Devs actually master the game with great HDR, mann it looks amazing
Exactly! Hope they all follow the same system settings someday.

Daniel, why you don’t recommend dtm? If its calibrated correctly it looks good.
It over brightens the picture usually, as long as your TV looks bright enough, HGIG is the most accurate calibration (and if the game is also made based on that)

Hi Daniel, Great video as always mate!!
Once we calíbrate it with hgig option, we remove it or not?

Hi, for most first-party games, HGIG is good, some games like FF16 are dark so in that case you can switch to DTM, for sony, I'd recommend calibration with Gradation preferred.
@@DanielZH Soo Whats your opinion about calibrating with tone mapping off and then puting gradation prefered on for playing? I always done that from what Ive seen

What about if your TV has like 4 HDR settings as HDR Standard and HDR Dynamic which one would you choose?
Hi, what's your TV model? I'd say check from Rtings .com and see what setting is the most accurate.
Sony 50” x85J
I always tinker with my settings on the TV being that I really enjoy calibrating and adjusting on a game to game basis, thanks for your insight 💪
So I guess if there is a 35% overall white clipping on display at this HDR Plus maximum setting then I should put in 400nits peak instead being 9 clicks on calibration correct?
@@EverythingPS5Pro I'd recommend testing it per game bases, once for first-party games like GOW and once in other games, as long as you can see the details in street lights for example in Spider-man 2, you're fine, once it gets glow-ish and too bright, then it might be too much, but going lower is not recommended.
Hi Daniel, if i want to use dtm all the time. What should be my settings in games that dont support ps5 hdr menu . Should i put 4000 nits or 1000 nits?

This video was recommended to me after trying to find calibration methods. So, in some games, it has gotten darker in some areas than before calibration. I have noticed these are games where your characters are given a lamp . Like in lies of P. Does that meant its normal for some dark areas because of the lamp mechanic? Of so, did that mean my pre calibration settings were off when i could see areas without a lampm
Isn’t all of this irrelevant depending on your display technology? Like your settings might work for oled but be bad for regular mini led?
Typically if the game follows PS5 settings and the TV has a good HDR PQ EOTF Tracking, it works fine as showed here, otherwise you're correct, your TV settings and tech affects it a lot and these settings may not work unless the TV is fully calibrated to not tone map etc.
Do you recommend disable PS5 HDR for Warzone?
I personally have it off, due to it being darker than SDR on my monitor, but its a personal choice dependent on your monitor or TV quality

Yes, for FIFA 24 specifically, when it is barely visible, go +1 higher in 1 and 2, and step 3 on zero clicks.
@@DanielZH Is this setting also good for games like calisto protocol, and other third person games?
Some of them need some changes in the game, like Callisto has an option to fix black level raise, but for the console yes it's good for them as long as they work fine.

Thanks

in the first example (970 nits), how many clicks did you go for each screen?
15 Clicks for 970 Nits.
Hi as soon as it fills, as the Tone mapping kicks afterward, I think gradation perfferd also works the best in Sony TVs.

Hi thanks, yes I tested that, there's one thing I'd consider:
If you play on a bright room, DTM might be a better choice, as HGIG may look much darker on average, but for my own situation (only 100nits light in the room) I'd prefer HGIG. it also depends on the game, some games aren't bright enough like FF16.
@@DanielZH yess.. but you notice different quality if you calibrate dtm 25 clik and calibrate dtm with hgig first 14 click and change to dtm.

Is it better to have hdr off or on on call of duty?
Hi, Call of Duty is fine, you can keep it on. SDR also looks fine, use the one that looks better on your TV.

Hi, it's a good way overall, as all Samsung TVs have tone mapping, there must be an actual measurement and adjust based on that, for step 3 of 3 keep it 0 clicks and it should work fine in most cases, if you got issues for darks, go 1 step higher.

@@DanielZH thx for answering. My Tv it’s a Samsung Q60BA
I have tv sony x90l is full array local diming, does it also apply?
Yes.
@@DanielZH are u sure?
How many click, on 1/2/3
I’ve just given up on hdr gaming. I have Panasonic oled from last years line up. Superb tv with an incredible picture. HDR movies look amazing. Gaming tho I find underwhelming and just not worth it. I’ve dialled the tv in for sdr for ps5 and xbsx. Not missing hdr at all.
Thanks for sharing! Movies are usually much better in terms of HDR, but we also have good games that give a nice HDR experience, not many though!
Che TV Panasonic hai?strano
@@DanielZH I’m using the Philips Gaming 329M1RV monitor…never really got my HDR too work really good so just turn it off lol
@@IM_A_BLIND_KIDI see, as it has an IPS panel with a typical contrast I'd recommend playing on SDR, that should usually look better (in 99% of the games for this screen at least), and you won't lose much!
@@DanielZH i must say visually the colour and picture and the performance of this monitor is incredible...4K at 120FPS is the best i have ever played on.
@@IM_A_BLIND_KID correct, aside from contrast (for dark room), everything else is good!
Hi, in your case Game HDR would be a better choice as DTM will always tone map and won't let you reach the needed brightness especially if the game can't go as high as max (10K nits)
For games, some games like FF16 typically look better on SDR, I think it could be fine to switch HDR depending on the game and how it looks.
@@DanielZH Thanks for the response. I will definitely keep it on, then.
hi daniel, are you okay? I see you no longer respond to my messages, I hope you're well, listen but in the fc 24 settings how much should I increase the nits? I put the maximum which is equivalent to 100 or half in the video settings of the game?
Hi, I was a little busy these two days, for FC 24 once you calibrate on PS5, even if the game is on 100 it looks ok, but to be more accurate you can clip both squares (start from 0).
I have on my sony lcd 4 120hz allm vrr step 1 & 2 can not see sun & step 3 at 0 black is that right??
For most games yes, but for first party games like God of war, spider man and gran Turismo, making them barely visible works great too!
@DanielZH so has nothing to do with it tv oled or lcd or peak brightness
@@heatwaveps5 it depends on the game mostly and how it uses the PS5 settings, that's why I showed 2 different calibrations in this video, but about being OLED or IPS or VA or QLED, it works similarly in terms of peak brightness test I showed in PS5 test for each step. doesn't change.
@DanielZH so on 3rd hdr black level do I go all way to 0 or just 1 past barely visible so can not see sun
How the hell is every one getting to these 3 screens to ajust the setting?i cant find the option in my ps5 .im using a smaung oldded
Hi, screen and Video, HDR section, Adjust HDR.
@@DanielZH thanks
The best game for calibration is Dirt 5. You will see yourself if you had too many or too few clicks on the PS5 calibration menu. The Dirt 5 reel is showing clouds, blue sky, the sun etc. Test it :)
That's very nice, thanks for mentioning.
Ciao! Ho un oled c2 lg , nel punto 3 consigli di non farlo diciamo tutto nero? E fare apparire un po' il sole?
Hi, for First-Party games (Like GOW and Spider-Man 2) yes, for other games make it black, zero clicks.
What about Samsung QLED? All of this stay true?
Hi, yes it was measured by a software tool and the value is from the PS5 output, not the TV, so it works the same on all consoles.

On my LG C9 in HGIG mode, sun disappear after 8/9 clicks. Why? This tv should have around 850 nits. So 14 cklicks and sun should disappear then
Hi, 9 clicks is around 400 nits, HDR Peak 50% Window for your TV is:
301 cd/m² (Rtings says)
So the first step it's normal to blend on 8 or 9 as the TV is less bright in full white luminance, but step 2 of 3 should take 12-13 clicks, right? if yes, then you're fine, if not, there might be some aggressive ABL even for 10-25% window size enabled on your TV.
Second screen for me blend also around 9 clicks. Without service remote I cannot disable ABL, right?
@@OddThomasPL I'm not sure if it's due to ABL, are you sure about all other TV and Eco settings? They can also affect peak Brightness, ABL shouldn't be that aggressive typically on step 2, but I don't have a C9, so I'm unsure if it's normal or not!
Yes,eco is disabled. Tv is calibrated in HDR,SDR and DV.
I follow your channel, Gaming Tech and HDTV test but my results are far worse than yours. It's frustrating:)
How many clicks for samsung q70a?
it's around 600nits, how many clicks do you go until it clips the sun?
@@DanielZH like 20+ clicks the tv doesnt have hgig akways has dtm on
My Sony X9005E TV has 880 cd/m2. Equals to 880 nits?
Hi, yes. cd/m² = nits
Sul oled panasonic lz,il tone mapping prima di calibrare hdr va disattivato?
Hi, it's better to turn off tone mapping if TVs let you, but some TVs are more accurate with tone mapping, what is your TV model exactly?
Panasonic lz 1500
Si posso disattivarlo
