anyone taking english lit in 2024 LISTEN TO MR SALLES you won't regret it. this is coming from someone who got a 9 and almost full marks with a few weeks of revesion before the gcse. you can do this!
Bit late to this but I just wanted to say thank you so much for your videos!! Just done my GCSEs and went from 4/5 in Y11 Xmas mocks to 9s in both literature and language!! Couldn’t recommend Mr Salles more :)
I have already done my GSCEs! However I would like to thank you very much! Without you I would not get the grades I did, because of you I moved from getting 4s to getting two 8s! I think everyone should watch your videos!
Hey Mr Salles, I am now an A-Level Lit student, and I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you for the part you and your videos/resources played in helping me to achieve 9s for both Lang and Lit at GCSE. I am a visually impaired student, so other than the deduction of SPaG marks, I managed to achieve full marks in both papers! To all future GCSE cohorts, it may seem a long and tedious process, especially with these rather demanding essay-subjects, but let me tell you, it is absolutely possible to to succeed! So, once again, I thank you Mr Salles for all your help! I would wholeheartedly agree with the general consensus that you are indeed the internet’s most prized English teacher. :)
Mr Salles thank you! I did my GCSEs in may/June, and after being stuck on 6s in both Language and Literature for years, I managed to get an 8 in Literature and 1 mark off a 9 in Language (I’m getting my paper remarked). But it’s all thanks to you! Your videos are fantastic and clear.
This helped me so much! I’m in year 10 and I just did my mock exam for ‘an inspector calls’ . I got 29/34 (AQA exam board) which is the maximum teachers are allowed, in my school, to give as a 30 is a grade 9 (it’s too early in the course to be given 9s in mocks).
If you get low in your mocks our tests DO NOT let it make you feel down, you can imrpove if you try, try ,try again. Hardwork pays off so give it your all Yr11 you can masively improve your gcse English grades if you try enough, beleive in your self, that is all you need
Just wanted to say such a huge thank you to Mr Salles. English lit was my worst subject in the mocks scraping a 7 after being predicted a 6 as I have a very mathematical brain. Ironically it became my best subject and I got 155/160 - a grade 9!! It would never have happened without Mr Salles!
Finished my GCSE’s, and was so happy with my results and wanted to say thank you Mr. Salles for your brilliant help, will miss watching all of your brilliant videos x
Hi Mr Salles, I just wanted to say thank you so much for all of your videos and the amazing language guide! I got low 6s in both of my English in my mocks and then went up to a 9 in literature and an 8 in language thanks to you!

Much like all the other comments, I would love to thank you Mr Salles for your tremendous care and effort to put out such quality material- your youtube videos in addition to revision guides are absolute perfect tools to get great grades. Throughout the course of year 11 I viewed the content you put out, and it paid off with an 8,9 for my mocks and 9,9 in 2023 GCSE's. This is not solely a thank you in regards to these grades however, but the confidence and comfort youve given me for Alevels and beyond in regards to my writing skills, analytical skills and more. I cannot recommend your videos enough! May you always be blessed.
Thank you for the reply sir. 1- I watched all your videos religiously. This allowed me to have a vast amount of alternative interpretations, as well as gain a deeper understanding on the books/concepts and different opinions. I occasionally wrote notes, but mainly it was just for exposure. In addition, all context I needed was found in your videos, however using the British library was also a nice tool for context. 2-I read alot of grade 9 essays as well as your guides, even if they were not for my allocated gcse texts, it aided me to form an articulate response. Also, being able to write a solid introduction as well as using PEE sentences (as taught by you). 3- I would revise with friends in groupchats by posing a theme or question, then all responding/'blurting' with our different viewpoints/quotes/analysis/context. We later then compiled the best ideas. It also allowed me to gain deeper understandings of the text, and have the ability to 'argue' my thoughts on a certain theme or character. 4- I had a positive mindset to english, trying to actually enjoy the texts inevitably makes learning and revising easier. 5- In the last few weeks before gcses, doing practise questions really aided me. At that stage, it was just about trusting my ability to write quality in the allocated time. I would do as many questions as I could and realised that the themes and characters all tie in. By this time, I had around 6 key quotes per text (in addition to a few quotes I intended to embed) that were heavily analysed. Therfore all that was required in the exam was to rewrite what I already practised time and time again.
@@zahra.psosjsbhdusYou did so good! I’m assuming the 6 quotes you chose went with every theme no matter the question so you were able to reuse them Could you give some advice as to how u chose the quotes and the analysis that came with it

One, which is very easy to adapt to the key word of the question

Not at all. The writer’s purpose has to link to the question
