    In this video, we compare the newcomer, the Delonghi Dedica Maestro Plus (EC950), to the original Sage (Breville) Bambino Plus. This is supposed to be a really quick video for those people who just want an expedient comparison of the two models. We talk about specifications, who's faster at starting up, who's better at milk frothing, who can spit hot water, and who seems to make the better espresso. Check below for more info and links.

    If you want hot water on the Delonghi just use the steam wand into cup of cold water. 🥳

    Great video,Tom! This one was a shorter one, but I guess you gotta experiment with types of content.
    Also that sure does help people who are planning a purchase and want a "tl;dr" type of a video.
    I personally enjoy the most 20min+ technical deep dives, while having a cup of coffee after I put my kids to sleep :) Cheers!

    FYI. Cheaper Stainless steel is magnetic. Higher grade stainless steel is not. If you are differentiating between stainless and aluminum it may make sense to call that out.

    Tom, I've enjoyed this whole series on the Maestro Plus. Question - If you were to choose between the Dedica Maestro Plus and the Dedica Arte, which is the better choice? I prefer to steam my own milk so I don't think I'd use the automatic steamwand much. Are there, however, other significant improvements and/or features on the Maestro Plus that would make that a better choice over the Arte? Thanks in advance!

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner

      It depends on the price. If the DMP is just $100 more, I'd go for it, for the better temperature management. But if it's twice the price, I'd just stick with the EC885. Cheers!

    Hi Tom, are there any similar or cheaper options budget wise that you’d recommend for someone who doesn’t want volumetric dosing and auto frothing but does want a PID etc?

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner

      With a PID? No. ECP3420 would be my recommendation, but no PID there. Gaggia Espresso could do, but it has volumetric dosing...

    Hey there! I have a question-I recently purchased some Illy Classic beans that are two months old. They're medium roast, but when I make espresso with them, I notice a bit of acidity that I'm not too fond of. Do you reckon if I switch to a darker roast, it might make it easier to extract without the high acidity?

    • @niklas8523
      @niklas8523 2 місяці тому +1

      Yes dark roasts will make it easier. However, you will also be able to extract less liquid, before it turns bitter. The best option is to purchase fresh beans from a roaster, if only to establish a benchmark once.
      To extract your medium roast better you can switch to a 1:2.5 brew ratio and increase pre infusion time, if your machine allows for it.

    • @Filhodopaulo

      Try to use a smaller amount of ground coffee, like 1-2g less, extracting the same amount.

      Darker roast may be easier because it doesn't require so much heat. So yes, give it a shot. Or if your machine allows it, turn up the temp a bit on medium or light roast beans.

    • @eby6613
      @eby6613 2 місяці тому +1

      Hello there, since I started off like you with groccery store ground coffee I'd say you wouldn't get the full benefits of this dedica unless you invested in freshly roasted coffee beans and a good grinder.

    • @kitcraft9516
      @kitcraft9516 2 місяці тому +1

      As someone who has used an ECP, EC685 and Bambino Plus I can say that, to me, the difference between the quality of coffee in negligible even when using specialty coffee and a good grinder. That isn't to say that there is no difference but unless I was tasting them side by side it wouldn't be enough, for me, to notice. Someone with a better palate might, idk. You are paying for features and convinces and there is nothing wrong that that. Personally, I find the Dedica to be the most convenient but have the Bambino Plus and ECP at home.
      Enjoy your coffee!

    Its magnetic because its a cheaper "stainless steel" looking steel.

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  2 місяці тому

      Well, the Bambino Plus in this case is painted steel, so the stainless steel grade wouldn't need to be as high, as the paint protects it.

      I wouldnt say 10x better, maybe just a little better when it was new. If kept in good condition I’d say they could maybe make the same, quality espresso depending on the grinder. Back in the day those machines were so cool they lasted a long ass time too, seems like theyre all starting to break down now

      @@gabewelch9984 The Saeco Barista machines, except for the pumps which is true for any device, are completely bulletproof. It's very common for them to last 25 years or longer, so they're in a completely different league from these plastic appliancy things.
