This is the stuff that makes me proud to be American
Yea
😮
A main reason why we keep our alliance, we seen hell, and went through it together
Wasn’t just Americans. It was a combined effort of the United States, Canada, Australia, and the UK
Australia's role is largely overplayed
No Australians in NorthWest Europe. But they fought bravely and were critical to allied success in North Africa, Italy, and the Pacific.
@@67icebowl there were maybe individual Australians in ground units and tbf there were quite a few in the RAF in the west but yeah, there were no actual aussie ground formations
yeah but sadly UA-cam was created by the US so most of History or info media you find here they will say US won the WW2 with no allies 💀
just btw if u had payed attention u would notice he said Omaha beach like 30 times so yea.
It wasn’t just American soldiers it was loads of different people (RIP to all of them who died 😢)

Isso mesmo. Soldados de várias nações foram enviados para lutarem pela nossa liberdade. O Brasil enviou a sua força expedicionária composta por 25.000 soldados que combateram nos campos da Itália ao lado do exército americano.

@@topbloke1683I see this statement a lot. Keep something in mind though. While the US was maintaining a "Neutral" position, she was churning out ships, tanks, trucks, aircraft, guns and ammo for the rest of the allies. The US had no large army. So she trained two. And Sailors, Marines and Airmen. American Merchant Marines suffered more casualties than some line combat units trying to keep supplies coming. Then when US troops did arrive, where did they go? North Africa, Europe, Asia? Yes...
How many were involved with the D-day invasion? Could it have been accomplished if they didn't show up? Crossing interlocking machinegun fire requires what...lots of cannon fodder? When America showed up for WWII there were about 132 million Americans. About 90% were Christian and the guys on the beaches getting shot up with you had wives and mothers at home making guns and aircraft. The brought something else onto those beaches with them the prayers of everyone who wasn't over there with you. They were praying for all of you, not just their boys.
They came in late? They supported you guys while they trained and built a war machine from scratch. Could you have won the war without them? Maybe, who is to say? Maybe some of those who say they were late wouldn't have even been born. Maybe they would be saying in in German. Who cares?
The US provided 8 million meals per day to the Soviets for the entire duration of the war. Were the tanks, aircraft, ships and guns the US provided better or as good? Who cares? Did any Americans soak up German made bullets on those beaches that a Brit might have taken instead? Who cares, they came. Were they late or did they come just when you needed them there?
Call them whatever you want, you won. You can say it in English, French, Polish, Chinese or whatever language you speak.
What good did it do anyway? Looking at the world now I doubt anything like D-day will be seen again. But if you really need help again I'm fairly sure Americans will show up again. Maybe late. Definitely loud and crude. But they will wade in with you.
@@klpittman1 no that is my point i dont think we would have been successful at D day without the americans and we are lucky you came and waded in, but leading up to this we were already knee deep in war across europe where many of our men passed and we recieved no help from our friends across the water.. the war could of ended earlier had you joined earlier and we would of suffered less, we as a nation jump to other nations aid straight away if needed but we would never bet the house on america to help until its almost too late as history proves, we are greatful for you though and we have statues and murals all over the country for you as in the end it was a good team effort to stand against the nazi rule, it feels personal that you didnt join earlier though..

80th anniversary for D-day. Thank you for all that served and active duty.
The Canadians broke through first at Juno beach and held it for 3 days.
Im from Canada
That was back when Canada wasn't a socialist country. Nowadays, they invite actual Nazis, as guests.
The reason why it was taken first is because Juno faced no where near the fire power Omaha faced. That assignment was given to the U.S. for a reason. Without Omahas victory, holding Juno’s sector wouldn’t have lasted long.
By the way with that being said, God Bless the Canadian soldiers that assisted in the D-day landings.

World War II, often referred to as the deadliest conflict in human history, was a global military conflict that lasted from 1939 to 1945. It involved the majority of the world's nations organized into two opposing military alliances: the Allies and the Axis powers. The war emerged as a result of unresolved tensions from World War I and the swift rise of totalitarian regimes in Europe.
The roots of World War II can be traced back to the unhealed wounds of World War I, where the harsh terms of the Treaty of Versailles imposed on Germany led to a deep sense of injustice. Economic hardships, political instability, and a desire for national glory, along with the emergence of charismatic leaders such as Adolf Hitler in Germany and Benito Mussolini in Italy, set the stage for a global conflict.
The outbreak of the war was triggered by Germany's invasion of Poland in September 1939. The aggressive expansionist policies pursued by Germany, Italy, and Japan threatened the balance of power in Europe, ultimately leading to the formation of two opposing sides. The Allies, primarily led by the United States, United Kingdom, and Soviet Union, formed an alliance to counter the aggression of the Axis powers, spearheaded by Germany, Italy, and Japan.
World War II was fought on several fronts across the world, including Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Pacific. The war witnessed the rapid advancement of military technology with the introduction of tanks, aircraft carriers, submarines, and the devastating use of atomic weapons. The use of these new weapons of war caused immense destruction and took a heavy toll on human lives.
The Holocaust, a systematic genocide perpetrated by Nazi Germany with the intent to annihilate Jews, along with several other targeted groups such as Romani people and disabled individuals, stands out as one of the most horrific events of the war. The horrors of the Holocaust serve as a stark reminder of the depths of human cruelty and the importance of preventing such atrocities from ever happening again.
The outcome of World War II was a decisive victory for the Allies. The unconditional surrender of Germany in May 1945 and the subsequent dropping of atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945 forced Japan's surrender and signaled the end of the war.
World War II brought about significant geopolitical and social changes. It marked the formation of two superpowers, the United States and the Soviet Union, which embarked on a Cold War that would shape global politics for decades. The devastation caused by the war also led to the creation of new international organizations such as the United Nations, aimed at fostering cooperation and preventing future conflicts.
Moreover, World War II drastically altered societal dynamics, particularly for women and ethnic minorities. The active participation of women in war industries and military support roles, sometimes known as "Rosie the Riveter," challenged traditional gender roles and set the stage for the feminist movement of the post-war era.
In conclusion, World War II was a cataclysmic event that shaped the course of history. Its legacy serves as a reminder of the horrors of war, the importance of vigilance against the rise of totalitarian ideologies, and the need for global cooperation to promote peace and prevent future conflicts. The lessons learned from World War II continue to resonate with us today, urging us to strive for a more peaceful and inclusive world.
You're not wrong on all. But wrong on 2 very important facts. The retaliation on Japan that made them surrender was years after the start of this war. The U.S was trying not to get dragged into this one. The attack at Pearal Harbour is what brought the U.S into this and unleashing an unretaliated hell. Japan invaded China and committed the worst was crimes ever. Once they played with the U.S..Japan surrendered less than 48 hours Later. 2nd point. Canada..you forgot to mention them. They played a huge roll in this. They Deserve thier respect on this one.

My great uncle fought in the omaha beach my grandpa told me that when he landed in the beach he ran untill he saw a big hole and stayed there for 2 minutes and fired at the enemy forces killing 6 germans. When the tanks arrived he used the tanks as cover and fired at the germans and charging at the enemy bunker and threw a grenade. His friend got shot and continued to fight to the end while getting fired by guns and capturing the beach
Nice account. That's medal stuff.
The war started in 1939. Btw. Dunkirk. Nothing heroic about siding with the enemy. Oh until precious pearl Harbour. With a U. Btw. A U. No hero's here.
My grandmother was one of the men that landed on the beach, she was the best warrior of them all and earned 2 iron crosses. She also dropped the enola bomb after 9/11, still alive and 61 years old. Bless his heart.

Y’all literally joined in after Russia turned the tide in Stalingrad, it was all over the world news. Was a glorious day. Look it up. Then yall joined the front. Prior that, yall was fucking around in Africa where there was nothing going on.
Dude is just trolling. Everyone knows that Americans had the toughest assignments and suffered the greatest losses. The hardest landings were given to the U.S. for a reason. Americans were the most (probably only) capable force to handle the toughest landings that day and so on. And they kicked ass doing it I must say. I’m proud to be able to call them a fellow American.
Thank you for your bravery
i have two things to say 1: the Germans were not prepared 2: its not called d-day, d-day is the first day of any invasion the missions name is operation overload
I know more than my teacher that knows a bunch of stuff and that’s because I played the game, watched and read articles but I don’t know everything. I still do a bunch of research about the M4 Sherman and the war
My grandpa was one of them took part in the war as an Indian fighting a war that was not his own.. I dont know whether he or others of his regiment was ever group-photographed like this , however their unitt (40th Pathan Regiment) was deployed in Bengal against the advancing Japanese army. He would tell me stories of confrontation with tigers and crocodiles and fear of Japanese attack on India until the end of the war... the astonishing is that we fought ww1 for years and lost millions of lives but found the solution on tables of Versailles... we fought again and used even nuclear weapons on Japan but the solution was again lying on the table... crusades, jihads, holocaust but the solution is always there on the table... unfortunately we are again on the brink of ww3, and knowing well no angel and no God no aliens will come to help us stopping the war, still our countries are doing nothing grave except intensifying the possibility of the war...
That’s my birthday!!
Fun Fact:
The Americans landing at Omaha has some soldiers from the 2nd Rangers Battalion, but some Boats that was supposed to land at Omaha with the 2nd Rangers landed at some wrong Sectors, this is due to doggy weather and bad weather, which make some 2nd Rangers landed in some Sector that wasnt supposed to be landed, but Omaha was succes fully taken by the Allies

The only thing that isn’t entirely accurate is that the Germans “heavily fortified Normandy” the Germans thought they would attack on the closest beaches and Normandy was fortified but it wasn’t as extensive as you might think
What is the purpose of war with no survivors
Not just Americans! British, Canadian, French soldiers were there too. They fought and died together, each nation at their assigned beaches. D Day was historic. But it came about a year late if you wanna say it changed the course of WW2. By June 44 the Russians had already broken the back of the German army.
So what do you think stopped all of western Europe being overrun by the Russians? And that if the Germans hadn't been fighting in western Europe they may have been able to fight back the Russians? It works both ways.
The Soviets were getting to Berlin either way. This at least took resources away from the Eastern Front and got the Germans surrounded. We grew up hearing it was the major factor in defeat but really it was all aspects of the war.
Thank you so much for your objectivity )

The Germans were not really ready for them. They were expecting the invasion to be at the Pas de Calais due to a very successful British misinformation operation, with Patton heading up a Ghost Army. The Germans therefore held back their Panza Divisions to cover what they thought would be the real invasion around Calais.
The Atlantic wall was about 6,000 kilometers long. German forces were thinly stretched over that great distance. But Rommel knew that the invasion would land in Normandy.
@@scooterbob4432 How did Rommel know? Look up agent Garbo. A double agent working for the British with a fake network of spies confirming to German High Command that the invasion would be at the Pas de Calais. Even when the invasion started at Normandy the Germans thought it was a diversion.
