    • @klpittman1
      @klpittman1 Місяць тому

@@topbloke1683I see this statement a lot. Keep something in mind though. While the US was maintaining a "Neutral" position, she was churning out ships, tanks, trucks, aircraft, guns and ammo for the rest of the allies. The US had no large army. So she trained two. And Sailors, Marines and Airmen. American Merchant Marines suffered more casualties than some line combat units trying to keep supplies coming. Then when US troops did arrive, where did they go? North Africa, Europe, Asia? Yes...
How many were involved with the D-day invasion? Could it have been accomplished if they didn't show up? Crossing interlocking machinegun fire requires what...lots of cannon fodder? When America showed up for WWII there were about 132 million Americans. About 90% were Christian and the guys on the beaches getting shot up with you had wives and mothers at home making guns and aircraft. The brought something else onto those beaches with them the prayers of everyone who wasn't over there with you. They were praying for all of you, not just their boys.
They came in late? They supported you guys while they trained and built a war machine from scratch. Could you have won the war without them? Maybe, who is to say? Maybe some of those who say they were late wouldn't have even been born. Maybe they would be saying in in German. Who cares?
The US provided 8 million meals per day to the Soviets for the entire duration of the war. Were the tanks, aircraft, ships and guns the US provided better or as good? Who cares? Did any Americans soak up German made bullets on those beaches that a Brit might have taken instead? Who cares, they came. Were they late or did they come just when you needed them there?
Call them whatever you want, you won. You can say it in English, French, Polish, Chinese or whatever language you speak.
What good did it do anyway? Looking at the world now I doubt anything like D-day will be seen again. But if you really need help again I'm fairly sure Americans will show up again. Maybe late. Definitely loud and crude. But they will wade in with you.

World War II, often referred to as the deadliest conflict in human history, was a global military conflict that lasted from 1939 to 1945. It involved the majority of the world's nations organized into two opposing military alliances: the Allies and the Axis powers. The war emerged as a result of unresolved tensions from World War I and the swift rise of totalitarian regimes in Europe.
The roots of World War II can be traced back to the unhealed wounds of World War I, where the harsh terms of the Treaty of Versailles imposed on Germany led to a deep sense of injustice. Economic hardships, political instability, and a desire for national glory, along with the emergence of charismatic leaders such as Adolf Hitler in Germany and Benito Mussolini in Italy, set the stage for a global conflict.
The outbreak of the war was triggered by Germany's invasion of Poland in September 1939. The aggressive expansionist policies pursued by Germany, Italy, and Japan threatened the balance of power in Europe, ultimately leading to the formation of two opposing sides. The Allies, primarily led by the United States, United Kingdom, and Soviet Union, formed an alliance to counter the aggression of the Axis powers, spearheaded by Germany, Italy, and Japan.
World War II was fought on several fronts across the world, including Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Pacific. The war witnessed the rapid advancement of military technology with the introduction of tanks, aircraft carriers, submarines, and the devastating use of atomic weapons. The use of these new weapons of war caused immense destruction and took a heavy toll on human lives.
The Holocaust, a systematic genocide perpetrated by Nazi Germany with the intent to annihilate Jews, along with several other targeted groups such as Romani people and disabled individuals, stands out as one of the most horrific events of the war. The horrors of the Holocaust serve as a stark reminder of the depths of human cruelty and the importance of preventing such atrocities from ever happening again.
The outcome of World War II was a decisive victory for the Allies. The unconditional surrender of Germany in May 1945 and the subsequent dropping of atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945 forced Japan's surrender and signaled the end of the war.
World War II brought about significant geopolitical and social changes. It marked the formation of two superpowers, the United States and the Soviet Union, which embarked on a Cold War that would shape global politics for decades. The devastation caused by the war also led to the creation of new international organizations such as the United Nations, aimed at fostering cooperation and preventing future conflicts.
Moreover, World War II drastically altered societal dynamics, particularly for women and ethnic minorities. The active participation of women in war industries and military support roles, sometimes known as "Rosie the Riveter," challenged traditional gender roles and set the stage for the feminist movement of the post-war era.
In conclusion, World War II was a cataclysmic event that shaped the course of history. Its legacy serves as a reminder of the horrors of war, the importance of vigilance against the rise of totalitarian ideologies, and the need for global cooperation to promote peace and prevent future conflicts. The lessons learned from World War II continue to resonate with us today, urging us to strive for a more peaceful and inclusive world.

You're not wrong on all. But wrong on 2 very important facts. The retaliation on Japan that made them surrender was years after the start of this war. The U.S was trying not to get dragged into this one. The attack at Pearal Harbour is what brought the U.S into this and unleashing an unretaliated hell. Japan invaded China and committed the worst was crimes ever. Once they played with the U.S..Japan surrendered less than 48 hours Later. 2nd point. Canada..you forgot to mention them. They played a huge roll in this. They Deserve thier respect on this one.

Yesterday i had an extremely traumatic L S Dee trip thinking about my ancestors that had to be ripped to shreds by the germans at D-day. I really found a new perspective on just how disasterously harrowing this experience would be. There are no words that explain the disgusting situations that ww1 and ww2 vets got in. Bless their souls. And rest in peace ❤

Dude is just trolling. Everyone knows that Americans had the toughest assignments and suffered the greatest losses. The hardest landings were given to the U.S. for a reason. Americans were the most (probably only) capable force to handle the toughest landings that day and so on. And they kicked ass doing it I must say. I’m proud to be able to call them a fellow American.

My grandpa was one of them took part in the war as an Indian fighting a war that was not his own.. I dont know whether he or others of his regiment was ever group-photographed like this , however their unitt (40th Pathan Regiment) was deployed in Bengal against the advancing Japanese army. He would tell me stories of confrontation with tigers and crocodiles and fear of Japanese attack on India until the end of the war... the astonishing is that we fought ww1 for years and lost millions of lives but found the solution on tables of Versailles... we fought again and used even nuclear weapons on Japan but the solution was again lying on the table... crusades, jihads, holocaust but the solution is always there on the table... unfortunately we are again on the brink of ww3, and knowing well no angel and no God no aliens will come to help us stopping the war, still our countries are doing nothing grave except intensifying the possibility of the war...

The Germans were not really ready for them. They were expecting the invasion to be at the Pas de Calais due to a very successful British misinformation operation, with Patton heading up a Ghost Army. The Germans therefore held back their Panza Divisions to cover what they thought would be the real invasion around Calais.
