  • Door seal kits can make any door a soundproof door, or at least another step in soundproofing a door in your home or office. The seal kit I will be testing in this video is metal with a gasket that will make the sides and top of the door airtight! I will use a decibel meter and show before and after sound test of this industrial door seal kit.
    You can even use this door seal kit to soundproof an apartment door, you'll just have to fill in the small holes on the door casing after removal.

    My man I appreciate the content. A huge issue I never hear anyone talking about is getting an airtight seal with weather stripping is not even close to simple! I’ve done 10 interior doors some take hours of readjustment! never close to even or semetrical gaps. I have 1/2” 1/4” even 1/16” foam and to finish the seal it’s all layered in all sorts of funny ways still not perfect surprised it’s not discussed. Idk if you’ve mentioned it by far the best door kit I’ve seen is an magnetic one the sucks to the door

      Plus that foam weatherstripping comes off in bits over time, and it leaves glue residue that doesn't want to come off, and dirt loves to stick to it. Makes the doorjamb look nasty!

    Thanks for the video. I used the weatherstrip you recommended in a past video, but it is too thick. I really have to force the door to close it. I cut it down with a razor knife, but it's still a bit thick. Any suggestions as to other stripping that is better for doors with little space between the door and frame? Also, the door has carpet under it, so the sweep is difficult to push through the carpet. Any suggestions?

      The strips he used in this video can be mounted to any "height" forward of the frame where the door contacts.

    Thx for your hard work ... so adding this strip will decrease the noise by 7 dc
    Is there any new way to reduce it even further ? Considering there is np with customizing a whole new door and if you have open budget ??
    For example like the way airplanes doors work or refrigerator.. how the door is thick enough and insert into the other frame
    And what is the best material to build a door with to further make it sound proof ?

      A solid wood door or fibreglass core door would be a good start after installing the seal kit and a door sweep.

    Will these door seek kits produce a lower decibel reading compared to the rubber adhesive door seals?

    • @soundproofguide
      @soundproofguide  Рік тому +1

      Yes, they absolutely do and they last longer since the self adhesive weatherstrip can begin to peel off after time.

    Is there any acoustic sealant that can be used OUTSIDE on a brick wall for my vent?? Can those type of sealant withstand cold temperatures?

    • @soundproofguide
      @soundproofguide  Рік тому

      For applications the sealant must be above +5 C (+40 F) -- but surface can be below freezing. Apply to a dry surface. You’re good after it’s applied and the cold shouldn’t effect it.

    I just tried using a self adhesive weather strip inside door and the my door would not close shut.

    • @soundproofguide
      @soundproofguide  Рік тому

      Sometimes you need to modify the weatherstrip, or buy a smaller, thinner one. The one I link is the type that separates in two narrower pieces.

    Wow dropped it a whopping 6 decibels. Absolutely no where near “soundproof”

    • @c90adventures
      @c90adventures 2 місяці тому +1

      A 6db drop means it's 1/4 of the volume.

      It's not really possible to achieve true soundproof without a lot of money and effort. You need to make the walls and door thicker for that.
