Start watching last night, finished the whole season by the morning. This is a must see for those who like occult/mystery. Acting and music is great. 100% recommend

SAME. It was my breaking point with Netflix. I canceled after they canceled Archive81. Doesn't matter how many weeks it spent on top 10, Netflix will give you 8 more seasons of "Is it Cake?" Instead

Good news is it was based on a podcast so there's a full voice acted series in the original intended format where you can finish the story and _holy shit y'all_ the story got so insanely twisted
Just finished this, and it was so good. Probably one of the few on Netflix that has substance. It's a shame, Netflix thinks numbers is the only deciding factor on whether to keep a show or not.
That is what happens when people who don't watch television becomes CEO :)
The industry is funded & driven by propagandists now instead of by true artists with a vision. If you don't have at least 3 gay couples on the show or someone hunting down & killing white people for sport than Netflix says bye bye!
I was a Set Painter for this show. I will say It was a long tough road with this one, especially because it was one of the first projects after the pandemic started.
But I have to say I'm excited to see where this show goes. I hope it does well, so we can get a season 2. It looks good!
That's awesome that you were a set painter for the show. I'd give anything to have the opportunity to work on a show in general, but I think I might give it a chance. Not big on horror, but, I am a fan of all things science fiction and fantasy so I'll just see it as a dark fantasy series.

Lots of work and time but when you see the trailer drop and then the actual show it's so exciting to see it all come to life no matter what position in the industry you have. Thank you for checking it out. I think there will be a little bit of everything as far as the genres go.

What they did really good in this serie was: while Dan was watching the tapes, every time it got really scary/interesting it cut back to his POV and I always found myself having the exact same reaction as Dan… as if I was watching the tapes myself.
the old VHS videos really helped in creating the eerie atmosphere, I wonder what they are going to do with season 2, now that all the tapes are done 🤔

Archive81 is literally a masterpiece that gave me Netflix series ‘DARK’ vibes.
Probably 5% of the content is actually worth it. The other 95% is just quantity over quality
I agree! haven’t seen a show that can match up to Dark tho, that was a freakin masterpiece! This show made me think about Dark as well, also the movie Midsommar because of the cult part and the weird humming, the little spores you saw around Melody when Dan saw her reminded me of the game The last of us. I can’t wait for season 2!

Binged the whole show yesterday. Incredible! I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it and was genuinely creeped out. Great story. Very well told, in my opinion. I was also really surprised that Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead directed two of the episodes. I highly recommend this show to anyone that is in the mood for a horror story that actually wants to show you a puzzle and pay attention.
It's not really a horror imo, more of a mystery movie with some horror elements. The way its filmed and the atmosphere are really great!

The trailer really doesn’t do this show justice. I picked it as something to have on in the background and I’ve finished it in one sitting it’s so good. Anything James wan touches turns to gold.
James is only one, of many, executive producers. He has nothing to do with the writing or directing. He only funded it.

@@ndo533 3 seasons and two short minieries. Each season has its own vibe while still being part of the same overarching narrative, its really really good! Seasons 2 and 3 are my favourites in very different ways, but season 1 (which is what s1 of the show is based on) is really good as well

This is *THE BEST* show I have seen in a LONG TIME! This show achieved what I had hoped to see in other "occult" type shows. In a genre where so many have failed, and fallen, this show strides with grace. I can only pray to Ka-le-go that this show has a season 2. Maybe Archive 119? Another LMG mystery? Regardless, HATS OFF!!! I can't stop raving. I loved the nostalgia, the Helena Blavatsky nod, 1920's seances. It was 🤩 *PERFECT*

If YOU are into the Occult genre, might I suggest "The Holy Mountain" by Alejandro Jodorowsky, made in the late 70's. That movie will blow your lid & send you off the deep end. Another, more calm and easier to digest, suggestion: "A Dark Song"

I have watched a LOT of shows and movies but there is something about the cinematography and music in Archive 81 that reeeeally creeps me out. Fascinating.
This series is so good but also very unsettling. Episode 1 starts off eerie with the creepy story building, dark cinematography and unsettling bgm; to be honest i have never felt this disturbed while watching a horror series before. After i finished ep 1 i was daunting from the fact that i had 7 more episodes to finish as i of course had to watch through more scary and disturbing scenes. the story progresses really well and the way it builds the creepiness based off the slow but steady storytelling and not through cheap jumpscares is very well done. i must say, this is an excellent horror!

Mamoudou Athie, I can't believe every emotion he shows on the screen, it reaches out and hits me. When he sat and watched his father my heart ached with him. I had to pause the film and remember, its a movie and I'm not standing next to him. Pulled me in so deep, it's scary. All the actors are great. But Mamoudou Athie! Wow, just wow!!

Congratulations to the cast of this series is now the number one series on Netflix. Very suspenseful to watch. This series should be up for some Awards this year. This Netflix series called my attention.

What a gem! I started watching and couldn't stop. I took a break to nap for a couple of hours and I had very vivid dreams with the characters. This show REALLY sucked me into it's story. It would be criminal not to have at least another season!

I never seen Mamoudou Athie before and his acting is great in this series. He managed to create a very likeable and believable character. I would like to see more shows and movies with him.

He was also good in a Facebook series 'Sorry For Your Loss' starring Elizabeth Olsen. It was really good but I don't think many people saw it. It lasted two seasons before Facebook canceled it, I guess they decided they didn't want to be in the business of producing shows.

Justice for Ratty 😤 but for real I had looooow expectations for this considering how much I love the podcast, I'm kind of against an adaptation because I think A81's strength was its sound design but I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. The trailer actually looks really good 👍
