YES! I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE IN THE HETALIA FANDOM WHO SHIPS BELARUS X THERAPY (I actually ship Belarus x America so this is a joke lol, but seriously Belarus needs therapy)
PruCan actually HAS had one interaction: the April Fools Prussia's Blog, where Canada gave Prussia maple syrup, and Prussia gave Canada an Awesomeness Award, which is a big deal considering Prussia's personality.
Honestly I feel like CH only made it harder to get Rusger popular in Hetalia, because in the Rusger tag it's nearly impossible for me to find Hetalia Rusger art because some people can't come up with original ship names- Also there were Rusger fans way before CH became a thing so like-???
breadcells those people are ew :( I ship lots of gay ships, but I never do because they’re gay. I once saw this comment on a Twitter thread that said “I don’t care about the ship, just as long as it’s gay!!1!1!” And it’s just like, ugh,,, stop-
cass- is-trash I made a point about this issue on twitter and got called a gatekeeper and homophobe. You have this ‘it’s gay that’s all that matters’ view at like 12-14 then you grow the fuck up at 15 or so and look back and the cycle repeats as you try to explain to kids that this view isn’t healthy and often leads to messed up things being romanticised and then get called an asshole.
breadcells oof, harsh. I made a rant, but I never posted it ‘cause I have that fear. Some people are really that weird to call you homophobic because they’re the ones who’s fetishizing gay people. I’m actually in the age range that you mentioned, but I still know how ships work :/
cass- is-trash I didn’t mean like, all kids. Sorry. I’m just so used to kids in that range literally excusing and fetishising r*pe, p*dophilia, peer relationships and abuse because it’s “gay and cute and precious pure love uwu” and like to be fair some people in my older age range actually excuse and encourage it. I’m just sick of watching everyone go through this cycle of damaged morals that they’re picking up in fandoms.
breadcells you don’t need to apologize, it’s okay! But seriously, these yaoi fangirls are not okay. Especially the gacha community. I don’t watch them, but I usually watch cringe comps (for fun). There are so many stories that consist of those topics, and they’re made by like, 10 year olds. And that’s for more kids their age (and younger) to watch! That’s probably why they’re turning out to act like that in terms of ships. :(
The only Sealand ships that are not terrible are the ones with other micronations that are around his physical age. Most of the ships on this list I don't get either, but I have read some good prucan fanfics. I actually like their dynamic as long as its still in character and Canada isn't written as a doormat.
The reason why Russia is so high on the seme/uke scale is because he's tall. I'm not joking, people determine who tops based on height. That's why you might see people over exaggerate the height of characters. People will usually see someone who is tall as the "protector" in a relationship, and someone who is small would be see as "innocent,""weak,"and "slow." People don't care about personality, they prefer the heteronormative aesthetic. And as someone who actually ships something where the characters never interact in canon, the reasons can be anywhere from how they interact in a theoretical relationship to just aesthetic. Sometimes it could even be a crackship becoming a lot more than such. I hope this information was helpful.
I do believe height as something to do with shit like this. But I for example, think England is a top, even though he’s canonically shorter than most other countries. I also think America is a bottom(power bottom because he still would want some control) even though he’s on the taller side. In my opinion, I think Russia is usually a top, but has potential to be a bottom. I think of Russia as a sweet, gentle top tho. Idk why I think this, I just get a feeling about characters, and I know it’s not about height because it’s all over the place.
To add on- People will sometimes change character heights to what they prefer, but it's not everyone. There are still people who prefer to write it differently, but a lot of people (especially americans, but not all, of course) like to rely on the height stereotype because they like it. Some people are uncomfortable with Russia being uke because it is unusual to them. Some people associate tall people as protectors, as they might have had that coded into their brain by their culture, society norms, and media. They might be trained to look down upon people assigned to be strong leaders wanting to be the innocent. Sorry for getting into that mess, but it's still relevant to finding out why people ship the way they do. That doesn't mean that someone simply liking a relationship where the taller is seme is doing it because their society encouraged it. Sometimes the one who tops simply happens to be tall. I personally don't like the whole seme/uke scale, and I don't like assigning roles to the characters, but it's unavoidable in most fiction. Again, I hope that was helpful, and not too repetitive.
America and France are shipped because in real life they have good history. France was America’s first ally and is also his oldest ally. Yes there has been small squabbles, but overall the two nations have good blood between them (pun not intended) For instance, when Paris was attacked, America lit up some of their most marvelous monuments in the French flag (including the White House). We also published a newspaper that was titled “We Are All French” much like France published a newspaper after 9/11 that said “We Are All American” Personally, I see France as a parental figure to America. But the ship is low key adorable.
Yup!! I like it too. There interactions in the show are rare but when happening pretty sweet. Its kinda sad it gets overshadowed so much by UsUk and FrUk to the point of people just thinking of it being a mean Joke... well to each their own 😅
If you wanna see some wholesome mangas between the two, there is a cute series on myreadingmanga where they’re dating and figuring things out despite their very different personalities
also when you brought up the top/bottom arguement in the video i literally screamed .,. people need to understand that versatility is an actual thing !!
The only reason PruCan kind of frustrates me, it's because PruIta IS a thing, I think you can imagine why. A ship with one single interaction gets more attention than a half-canon ship? It hurts, man, it really does.
Probably because everyone just focuses on GerIta. But yeah, even though I don't really ship PruIta, I find it sad that it gets ignored so often. (Prussia wanted a dang date with Italy and even mentions in one of his songs that he loves him) Random: Personally I ship Prumano more because they not only had interaction but Hima even stated once that Prussia has the same feelings for Romano as he has for Italy. (and I think Prussia needs someone who isn't always nice and sweet but also gives him kind of a challenge without being cruel)
@@mikai4738 hE LIKES ROMANO TOO?! All of his scenes with romano and when he offered to make a whole ass movie for a crying romano hits different now...
so uh the reasoning behind prucan is that there is no reasoning its just cute and i have no idea where it cane from and why its popular is because they're well loved in the fandom i think
“Belarus and Liechtenstein personalities are polar opposites” I thought that was the fun part about shipping? Honestly, my English is not good enough to explain myself correctly, but crashing personalities is what makes it interesting for me, shipping equals is not always boring, I definitely prefer it when the two are colliding tho, it gives you a lot more to play with. Learning to be softer for Belarus, learning to be more assertive for Liechtenstein, wanting to work and undertand eachother, a slowburn.
For me, USUK was literally my introduction to Hetalia. I saw a video that said “USUK moments” around early 2018 and couldn’t exactly tell what the title meant. While still figuring out what Hetalia was about, I didn’t know that America was England’s adopted brother until much later, so I got kinda conflicted about the ship when I found out they were siblings/former siblings (I’m not sure what they are) because by then I had seen a bunch of fan stories of the ship. (Sometimes i check fanworks before checking the main source as a way to see what most of the fandom enjoys about a series.) Now I don’t really see the pair getting into a romantic relationship anymore and prefer stories of them having a more familial relationship as I find it interesting to see other people’s ideas about how their relationship developed after past conflict.
PruCan came to be because of Prussia’s blog. Canada and Prussia interacted there, and Prussia said something about appreciating / liking maple syrup. Even though they don’t really interact in the comics, according to the blog, they apparently do message each other online. I don’t really read their fics, but I am pretty sure that was the catalyst of that ship.
Remember everyone! SEALAND. IS. 12. Thank you, this is one of the most important messages in the video. Also PruCan comes from Prussia liking pancakes, I swear that’s where it came from.
Finland definitely tops Sweden. My guy meester sweeden traps his son in a box for not playing with him. Finland is like the most badass Nordic with his heavy metal, its all covered with his smile but he wouldn't hesitate to break an arm
TolysFeliks 4Ever Same, but I prefer it if Tino tops from the bottom. (Think a Dominant Uke.) The whole dominant thing still stays here, so I don’t see the difference between FinSu and SuFin at all in this context. Thank you for listening to my miniramble about Finland and Sweden. I’mma go now
Well, for Prucan prussia remembers Canada whereas everyone else forgets him and mentions loving maple syrup and pancakes in some of his character songs, and while that's not a direct interaction it's why that is.
I like to think that Belarus needs someone like America, who is mostly friendly to everyone, to give her attention. Also America needs someone (maybe like belarus but nicer) to keep him in check.
For PruCan, I think it got started because during a single panel in the comic, Canada shares pancakes with Prussia, and Prussia seems to actually know who Canada is, either implying that they are close, or that Prussia is just not as dense as the others and didn't forget Canada's existence.
A note on PruCan that tries to stay unbiased: First, we know they have interacted at some point. In one of his blog posts, Prussia mentions someone he doesn't recognise coming to his door and offering him maple syrup. It was April Fool's day though, and he was suspicious, but after being assured it was free, he did take it. Is that an incredibly far leap from shipping? You bet. But Prussia also is shown to enjoy pancakes. Not German pancakes, though, new world pancakes. This could be the same oversight as the Italy brother's being drawn with New York style pizza, but it is a main reason for the ship. And if you think about the characters, their personalities actually could work well together. Prussia wants attention. He's after the spotlight. He wants someone to talk to him. He's lonely, and afraid he'll be forgotten. When he is alone, he claims that being alone is awesome, even though he clearly doesn't like it. He's just trying to boost his ego, quite possibly because he thinks it's the only thing keeping him alive. Canada, on the other hand, while still pushed to the back burner, is mostly content to stay there. He does want people to talk to him and get to know him, and he does want more friends, but he doesn't tend to put much effort into that goal, as he probably believes it's doomed to failure. So what we have are two people who don't want to be forgotten, but have very different ways of acting due to that. One wants someone to listen to them, and the other wants someone to talk to them. If these characters actually manage to meet and become acquainted, I feel like they would become friends at least. One way would be through France, as he interacts with both rather frequently in modern day. Finally, I will explain why I, personally, ship PruCan. I almost immediately identified with both Lithuania and Canada in the show. Canada specifically because my parent's on-again off-again relationship affected my childhood in many ways, and much stronger than it did my siblings'. I don't tend to talk much outside of my house, have very few friends, and tend to take a passive role in everything. For a long time, I assumed my opinions didn't matter because no one ever listened to them or cared. When I was thirteen, I decided to play an MMO. It was an act of rebellion against my parents, because I wasn't supposed to do anything online that would let me come in contact with other people. But also, I was lonely. I wanted some sort of interaction. There, I met a player who took on a big brother type roll towards me, giving me better equipment and teaching me how to play. He had a friend/rival that... I was honestly scared of at first. He was loud, aggressive, and seemed to pay a little too much attention to me. Later, I learned that he just thought I was cute, and didn't know how to express that, so he picked on me. I also learned that he acted that way because he was afraid of people ignoring him, for reasons I won't disclose. It's not my story. I'm not sure how it happened, but after about a month things switched gears completely. He asked if we could start over as friends, and I agreed. Later, he asked if I would be entirely opposed to dating him. I was not. It's been four years since then. We have still never met. But we're still happy, and counting days. So, the main reason I ship PruCan is simply because it's a happy ending to the story I'm living. Sure, there are numerous differences, but two polar opposites, thousands of miles apart, who've never really met....... The forgotten child and the gaming wanna-be-badguy who's actually sweet..... It's just something special to me on a personal level. And that is why I ship PruCan.
@@alien-3181 No one said you can't. If you don't like something, that's okay. Everyone has different opinions. I only intended to explain why it is a ship, not convince people to like it.
As a Greek... THANK YOU for putting Greece and Turkey here! I live in Evros, the border between Greece and Turkey and LET ME TELL YOU, there are still problems between us. Not necessarily between the people, but still! Can't wait for the video about it!
glory to jesus I never really liked the love-hate pairings. Some people were always drawn to those, but I wasn’t. But especially ships were people just don’t like the other at all. I do have some exceptions, but it’s really rare that I will like a ship like that.
I mean I kinda like FrUk because despite some of their differences they actually are quite similar in character. They both try to be ‘gentlemen’ (both usually fail miserably but that just makes it better), England once tried to imitate France, they nearly got married, they both sort of hate America (though in different ways and for different reasons) and both have quite a short temper. The thing with Russia’s ‘love hate ships’ is that Russia is a dangerous nation that could literally take over the entire world in a heartbeat, whereas with France and England they never really get ‘seriously violent’. That’s just my opinion though.
@@classicfudge2939 I think there personifies are polar oppersate England is much more modest mature and gentlemanly when he is sober if course. They where never married because there is no canon romantic relationships in hetalia other then chibitaliaxhre, they fight all the time I gotta say a vast majority of the time they are together and constant physocal fighting causes a toxic relationship,
I would never have shiped Romano and Germany, but when I was much younger, I read a germano fic where Romano was basically a big tsundere for cute and caring Germany, and my 13 year old heart freaking exploded, and I loved it and treasured this ship in a special warm place in my soul. Now, I don't think germano would work without really tweaking the characters, like, Romano REALLY hates the potato bastard, it would take more than love to fix this shit. So it bothers me that they are shiped, but for some reason I still like it????? a lot????? This ship is really high in my list and idk why??? Guess you can't run away from your old ships, they will haunt you, and you can't escape '-' (sorry for any mistakes in my english)
The UsUk thing for me made me conflicted at first because I didn't fully understand if they were blood related or not which when I first got into the fandom confused the heck out of me, after actually looking up a crap tone of stuff on wether it was actually incest(because I ship everything unless it's incest or like pedophile or anything illegal) or not which once I got a solid but not super solid answer on it I just went and was like, "as long as I don't see the toxic Fanart or read a fanfic where they make them actually related im good" and left it as is. Though I do like frUK more lol. That's just me though.
All of the ships included are ones I either don’t ship or feel uncomfortable with, but this still rubs me up the wrong way. The whole idea of “they have no canon interaction/there’s no historical basis” being a reason that it’s a bad ship makes no sense to me; if people want to ship something with no canon significance, why claim it’s wrong? It just seems like a way of making yourself feel like “the superior shipper”, and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I’m not calling her out, but I think this way of viewing people’s ships does nothing good and tends to make people feel invalid for no good reason.
Emerald Apple In my defence the title was different when I commented, and if I’m honest, while she didn’t outwardly criticise the ships, it did seem like she thought they were less valid (or, indeed, understandable) because they don’t draw directly from canon or history.
@@Alexandra-xk3gu But,, they are less understandable if they don't draw from canon or history. This is just questioning their existence. They aren't less valid, if they are less understandable.
Emerald Apple Like I said, it was more in tone rather than outward criticism, and from watching this channel for a while, she says this exact thing quite often about ships she doesn’t ship herself; with that context, it just seems to me that she almost puts them down with that statement. That last bit might stand up a little better if you add a necessarily in there by the way, I think I get what you were saying though.
There's always a hierarchy for things, characters, ships... there's a reason why tier lists exist. But it is important to know that it's always subjective and a rationale based on canon doesnt always exist, like why the nordics are so beloved despite having so little screentime. If you somehow feel inferior/superior because you ship something, I think you need to ask yourself why you feel that way. Because most people in this fandom dont actually care what you ship and dont ship shame since ship wars had been unfortunate part of this fandom's history. Edit: after reading your other comment, yes. Hetafacts has a tendency to carry a condescending(?) tone in her videos. Probably should feedback. I try to ignore it and assume her intentions aren't negative.
This fandom needs to look up the westermark effect. The sheer amount of mental loopholes people jump through to pretend their incest ships aren't incest is more creepy and disgusting than those who have no shame and admit thats what they are into.
It depends on the definition of incest! If we take a look at USUK, it would be considered incest in england but not in America for example! Idk most ppl who ship incest ships usually don’t deny the incest level. They just kinda try to explain why they ship it^^
@@aleabeckermann2100 bruh what do you mean incest in England but not America? If one country considers it that then its probably a sign that something messed up might be happening. Its not an excuse
@@aleabeckermann2100 America doesn't have a general federal rule like England does about incest. The states all have their own rules which are for the most part strikingly similar to England's rules. Here is the thing about incest. Your legalese doesn't matter. incest is not limited to blood. This is why I brought up the westermark effect. The westermark effect is a psychological phenomena which causes people who grew up together in a close relationship to not be attracted to each other and to further be repulsed by it. This happens with your blood relatives and it happens with your adoptive relatives. Using laws about blood to justify incest doesn't make it less incest. It just makes you look like a creep.
Cursed Hetalia Edits ?? That’s... not how it works? Incest is a term created by human and the definition obviously can vary from country to country. Sometimes it’s just bloodrelated sometimes it’s more. Please don’t act in such a disrespectful way towards me ever again. It really pisses me off and I am not planning on some random person in the internet ruining my mood. If you disagree or believe I am wrong, which very well might be the case, tell me in a respectful manner.
19:35 This is the main reason why I can never even get into ships in the first place. There are so many possibilities but fans just waste them and never change anything. It's been years! Let's turn the list upside down.
I am not even into shipping but for the Prucan one, There was this interaction between the two in ore-sama's blog (Is that what it's called?) where Canada gave Prussia canadian maple syrup and he was so impressed that he said he wanted to give Canada an Ore-sama's award. And that's probably the only time they've talked lol it's kinda adorable ngl
For Frus, the way I understood it was it was a history type of ship, where if you understood the history of US-Franco relations, you'd get it. Kinda like Nedcan with the whole flowers thing or Kimchiburger with the Korean war and all that drama.
I heavily agree with your USUK opinions. (Only I didn’t go on the internet during the shipping wars) America and Britain have a strong relationship, no denying that, but it’s a familial bond (very much so in America’s mind!). ((I think most of the people shipping this are just young and horny, America is young and Britain kinda acts socially immature so they connect with that in their own minds. They also won’t consider the fact that there are dynamic relationships that exist that don’t involve romance)) The angst is real but that’s once again extremely present in family dynamics. . I want to see more cannon stuff talking about colonization and how that works relationship wise to the countries.
I ship France and America mostly because they're choaitc energy together would drive England up the wall and honestly, i love that image. Like imagine France cooking food while America lounges on the counter while England is grumbling on the phone to a very confused japan.
I'm not an AmeBel shipper (I like Ameliet better), but I think they prefer AmeBel to LietBel because America seems to be able to deal with Belarus' aggression better (and they may also like RusAme drama that will come with America liking Russia's sister). They might also like the blonde hair couple aesthetic
Not to start anything, but I feel like the only reason Prussia and Canada are shipped are because of the sole fact that Prussia likes pancakes too, and y'know that pancakes are Canada's thing
@@ratontheinternet5611 that's true, and I totally agree, It isn't that I don't ship them it's just that I don't ship a lot of people in hetalia, I do like the idea of the ships dynamic tho and I like the fan art 😊
Random people shipping GerRus: "Two strong countries, fought wars with each other, so there's a bit of competition between them, but they're better now and they both have their cute moments, so what's not to like?" Me, a Polish person: *terrified like my greatest fears were coming true, wants to protect Feliks all of a sudden* Ps: I love the characters, and I know that countries are not their bosses, but it's still quite uncomfortable for me to imagine them together. Somehow RusPrus is more understable, since Prussia also stands for East Germany and their mutual history is longer, but it's problematic in its own way. Also, I don't see them (Germany and Russia) as even able to stand each other in the long run, their personalities are too different. I somehow can't see any Germanic nation being romantically involved with Russia, just all of them seem too odd together and not like they could relate to one another for the most part. That's just my take on it, in any case.
Frus is basically out of frustration tbh, but still the dynamic is very cute and France has beenn us' ally for the longest time, and Google says that saying 'I'm ur ally for life' is more loving than saying 'I love you' 🏐
Someone tried to ship Turkey with my Armenia oc once and I screamed, yelled at them, cried, and almost threw up G E N O C I D E!! YOU DON’T SHIP A COUNTRY THAT COMMITTED GENOCIDE ON A COUNTRY WITH THAT COUNTRY!!!!
*Talking about prucan*: "but their both forgotten characters" Me: Prussia's not a forgotten character!? Hetafacts: Prussia is NOT a forgotten character Me: Told ya bitch!
honestly i ship prucan because i think their personalities mesh really well together. the shy forgotten character and the super loud character is just such a good dynamic and they balance eachother well. Rusprus is also super fuckin cursed tho
Killer Lullaby same!! But its fine to not like a ship. It doesn’t really get in your way... only when I search for fruk fanart and get 65% UsUk art. Then its a little annoying but other than that it’s alright^^
When it comes to FrUS, France and The United States have always been allies. Apart from the Quasi War, a relatively small conflict compared to others, these countries have never fought against each other. There’s a fair amount of historical interactions. Although the anti USUK and FrUK sentiment is also there for a lot of people.
Oh my goodness finally someone else who doesn't understand where the heck prucan came from or why UsUK became so big! No ship bashing or anything I'm just as confused on how or why they came about considering in Prucan's case they have little to no interactions and in UsUk I still get tripped up over the colony thing. Haha, good to know I'm not alone!
Honestly, what you said about America not fitting into the romantic settings is one of the reasons I headcannon him as a clueless aroace. He always seemed too out of tune in romantic pieces with him starring in.
Shippers of RusPrus (real life): Nicholas I and the Romanovs. Louis Ferdinand von Preussen and the Hohenzollerns. Stalin and the GDR. Damn, that ship is high profile
I think PruCan started on an April Fools blog that Prussia had and Canada gave him maple syrup covered pancakes. That's it. That's the only interaction they've had
Biancake #ΦωΦ bel actually sees him as another older brother. I think, cause she lived with him for a short while It’s America that would hate to be with her probs.
As a Greek descendant, the Turkey x Greece pairing always freaked me out. history aside, just their interactions in the series made me want to protecc . I may have missed some info since it's been years, but still 😅😅
I’m part Greek and got mad that Greece was portrayed the way they were then I realized that on the side of my family that is part Greek there are a lot of people and that 2 of my great-grandparents on the part Greek side of my family had at least 5 siblings (one I think had 6 while the other had 7)
16:14 Maybe it became popular because of the very thought of "what if?" What if they DID interact. if they did interact, how would it go? how would a relation be if these two actually got to know each other etcetera etcetera. Maybe it's because of these questions that people started to ship them and bring their ideas to reality seems like a Longshot yeah but it's something to think about
Omg thank you! The same reason I don’t like USUK is the also the same reason I don’t like spainmano. I get that in the manga he proposed or something Idk? But Spain was a adult when Romano was a kid. I just see Spain as a fatherly figure to Romano.
Honestly, I think the relationship between them (Spain and Romano) is more brotherly than the relationship between America and England. For America and England is more of a father and son relation. But, I feel like as Spain and Romano kinda grew up a bit more their brotherly bond turned into more of a friendship kinda thing. Therefore leading to a somewhat possibility for them to be lovers. But that is merely my opinion.
I don't ship USUSK either and I used to ship Spamano but then I realized that it really gives me more of a brotherly/family relationship than a romantic one. (and well, I'm also tired to see Romano always being portrayed as the total tsundere while Spain is the sweet sunshine dude who loves Romano sooo much)
I was into hetalia when I was around 13 (I'm 20 now lol) and I vividly remember shipping hongice but I cannot for the love of everything holy remember why I shipped them lmao I JUST DO and it's such a mystery...
there's a reason as to why i ship ameripan so much, it's bc they're actual BROS. i find shipping america difficult for the same reason as you: he's just really young and childish. he's much better suited for platonic friendship relationships. i ship ameripan platonically and non-platonically.
Same! At first I thought Ameripan is a crack ship, but when I looked up the history and even those subtle interactions, that's the moment I confirmed that this is my favorite ship.
As someone who was involved in the Yuri scene of the Hetalia fandom early on I can try to explain Belarus/Liechtenstein. Note that I haven’t been involved in the English fandom since 2012 so things I mention here have obviously changed now. In the early days, despite Hungary, Liechtenstein, Belarus, and Ukraine being the only ones who had gotten the most focus in the series, all of the female nations had their dedicated fans who would create fanworks for them, and they were looking for characters to ship them with. Those who liked Het were lucky as all the female nations have relationships with men, but with Yuri it was trickier as there were very few canon interactions between the women. So, fans began to create crack ships, pairing the characters based on shared characteristics, traits, or what they imagined would be adorable. This is reflected in their Japanese shipping tags. Hungary/Belarus - Maid daughters pair (they both wear maid outfits) Belgium/Ukraine - Katyusha daughters pair (they both wear headbands) Hungary/Taiwan - Flower maiden pair (they both have flowers in their hair) Taiwan/Seychelles - Island country daughters pair (both nations are islands) Of course, some people looked for ships with historic backing behind them, but mostly people were just shipping whatever looked cute and created their own headcanons. As for Belarus/Liechtenstein their shipping tag is "Younger sister pair", and their origin exactly what you stated--the fact that both of them are two sisters who like their brothers. People thought it was cute that both of them like their brothers, and the difference in how they express that was even funnier. There's a few pieces of fanart where people swap their personalities, just to show how funny the difference is. This difference in personality is a factor why people ship them, it could be a case of opposites attract. Not to mention some fans of Belarus really want a healthier shipping option for her, and believe Liechtenstein could be one. Somehow, Belarus/Liechtenstein really took off in the Yuri scene and it was the top Yuri ship next to Taiwan/Vietnam, a ship that later on ended up having sweet interactions in canon and could be seen as more “credible.” I don’t know how popular Belarus/Liechtenstein is nowadays--if fans have come up with different ways of shipping it or if any Yuri ships have surpassed it since--but that’s how it began, from what I know.
I seriously don’t understand why you’d ship something just because it’s yaoi or yuri. Can’t you just... ship based on chemistry, interactions, etc? I’ve seriously never understood this.
@@wannabehistorian371 I can't speak about Yaoi, but Yuri tends to be overshadowed by both Yaoi and Het. Unless it's a series with mostly female characters, Yuri tends to be the least shipped thing in most fandoms, so those who like Yuri has often had to go for obscure or crack ships to be able to ship the thing they like. It doesn't help that in some media female characters just rarely interact or have relationships, and this lead to Yuri fans having to ship things based of headcanons and "what ifs" instead of canon. In the last few years Yuri has gotten more attention and it's much more common than it used to be, but back then you just had to deal with it and ship crack.
@@wannabehistorian371 Everyone has their own reason, I'm not into men and only like shipping women with women. Some do it for fetishistic intent (like the sterotypical image of an extreme Yaoi/Yuri Fangirl/boy) It may seem superficial to you but it's not a hive mind, everyone's reason is different.
I think you’d also be surprised how Gil’s place isn’t as assured in Pixiv lol. Not only does he always bottom to Tolys, but he’s the only one I could find a consistent amount of women-on-top smut for (Yes, Roddie legit bottoms less to Liza than Gil does). There was also lots of SpaPru. Also if you search for Ivan-on-bottom smut (右ヴァーニャ), the most common seme is Al, but you’d also find: A shocking amount of LietRus EngRus FraRus An EstRus fic A few ItaRus A shocking amount of JapRus And many more There’s also the LatRus Omegaverse fic I mentioned. Also there was one comic where the Baltic trio somehow set up Ivan to be tortured or raped or _something_ on camera and were watching it as Kiku got threatened with the same fate by Tolys. Though it probably shows how much of an uke the fandom sees Yao as with the fact that ChuRo is so rare though lol (two illustrations and one fanfic). I said to a friend once that if an Asian guy and white guy are shipped, the white guy will almost always top, which as a general rule is true though. Also, believe it or not, ItaGer exists. Feli can be anything from reluctant seme to naive seme to straight-up vibrator-up-the-ass for an entire meeting. One fic (or was it doujin? I forgot) even had Feli watch stoically as he let everyone else have a go at Lud. ...Yes, *I’ve seen sh-t.* Though honestly a bit disappointed by the fact that this fandom was probably as big as Touken Ranbu or Detective Conan or whatever else, but for some reason every single girl always bottoms in het with few exceptions (mostly a few scattered HunPru fics) while I’ve seen tons of femdom for straight girls for the above-mentioned fandoms in my Pixiv walks. Like I’m talking like pages and pages of ‘em. Or maybe it’s something particular to Touken Ranbu and Detective Conan, since a lot of the examples of this I found were from those fandoms.
Alright, separate comment just to explain some of the ships in the video that I personally enjoy: Germano is honestly just born of my love for enemies to lovers. Most of Romano's explicit hatred for Germany seems to take place in WW2, which is understandable considering the state of Italy at the time. He seems to view Germany solely based on stereotypes and government actions. I can imagine them starting to see eye to eye during the Cold War. Germany would start seeing how hard working Romano is given the right motives (rebuilding after WW2), and Romano would start to see a more human side to Germany as he copes with both the aftermath of the war and the separation between him and his brother (something Romano could relate too). It's not so much the canon interactions as it is the potential for character and relationship development. RusGer is appealing to me personally because they are similar in terms of personal histories and character. They both have rough, violent histories that affected how they act in wildly different ways, and they are both confirmed to be extremely lonely. Seeing how they interact with each other and overcome past disputes makes for an interesting pairing. Another reason is that the aesthetic of two threatening, misunderstood characters confiding in and being sweet with each other is just super cute. Honestly, I ship USUK just because I'm American and went into the fandom with limited knowledge of world history, so USUK was the easiest for me to grasp onto initially. Plus the way the relationship between the nations IRL has changed over time makes for a compelling way to show character growth and romantic development. I can understand anyone who feels icky about it though. I feel RusPrus would make a good couple in an AU where either they are not nations or the relationships between the characters as people were less hostile. It's an interesting "what if" scenario. Sometimes I ship it as portrayed in canon purely for the sake of angst. It can be through either the overcoming of grudges or through the depiction of a toxic or straight-up abusive relationship. I don't condone unhealthy relationships IRL, but seeing how a fictional character acts within one is super intriguing. I think pretty much every piece of RusPrus content is OOC, so you aren't alone there. The ship is damn good when done right though. TL;DR: I ship many of the pairings in this video based off their potential as an interesting couple, not solely on how their relationships are depicted in canon or historically. I really like writing and reading stuff with dramatic character studies, and these pairings sort of open up a road to that exploration.
*you should see the weird stuff in the countryhuman fandom...* **lets just say, there's some very controversial and irrational 20th century ships goin' on** oh there's also cankraine
honestly cankraine makes no fucking sense (except for the fact that Canada has the second biggest amount of Ukrainians in their country) bUT EVERYONE KINDA SHIPS IT AND HONESTLY ITS THE FLUFFIEST SHIP AND WE KINDA NEED THAT HERE
I’m a multi shipper (I do not ship the incest ships sorry). I can explain prucan at least from MY view. BEFORE I SAY THIS I SHIP THEM BOTH ROMANTICALLY AND PLATONICALLY I FEEL IT COULD WORK EITHER WAY. Their opposite personalities can cause a lot of development and realization. Prussia has been seen encouraging quite a few people. (I.E Japan, Romano). He encouraged them both to break out of their shells and be less shy. I feel like he could possibly help Canada with that too. And with Canada, he is rather submissive but if you think about his history he is INCREDIBLY strong. Prussia likes strength but he also likes submission. While that isn’t the healthiest relationship thought let’s go back to how strong Canada actually is, he could easily beat Prussia. (Given how he’s not even a country anymore). So something that Prussia could possibly admire and seen as worthy of his attention. I feel as though they’re so opposite (personality wise) and so similar at the same time (strength wise). Because even the writer said that Prussia does indeed have a soft spot. Like I said. I could ship them both platonically or romantically. I do t really care. I feel like they’d be great friends but also a pretty solid relationship. Whatever you think though, I don’t mind! 🧡
Hey Hetafacts! Congrats on 20k subs! I got into Hetalia a few months ago so I'm still kind of a baby to the fandom. Don't worry, I won't leave any time soon! Your videos really helped me navigate my way around here. You've taught me a lot that I probably would have never known about Hetalia and even history in general. Thank you for giving us great content for all this time, for the older viewers and newer ones like me.
BelaLiech just makes me uncomfortable because Belarus is canon 19 and I just can't imagine Liech older than 15. The only comic we see them together Belarus has Liech in a headlock. It just doesnt seem healthy
i shipped CuCan so hard after 10 years being in this fandom, it still makes me sad that another ship with Canada only had an interact, has more content to enjoy.
Ok, let me tell you about russian shippers, because they can do some incredible things like write a RusPrus fic where non of them will be out of the character. There will be whole USSR, I mean all mentioned in anime republics. Headcanon about Prussia-Kaliningrad is also very popular, and there are some fics about 90s years of 20th century after Soviet collapse. Actually, there are a lot of works about 18th century and seven years' war. Maybe because all paragraphs in russian history books about these are written as fanfiction. Especially about Peter the Third. “Friedrich II, in desperation, tried to poison himself, then to abdicate. However, in the midst of the final stage of the war, the Empress Elizabeth died. And Peter the third, who came to the throne, hastened to stop hostilities and make peace with his idol.” - this is a quote. In this way, and during this period RusPrus doesn't look like something strange, right? Welcome to russian Hetalia fandom, we can make everything possible and logical (except USUK, I just don't understand this)
It's kinda funny how actually many people I know in Estonia actually believe that latvians have six toes. I did believe it too. It's kinda the joke parents introduce to kids when learning about countries.
When it comes to shipping America, I also find it difficult. America is only 19 as a human, and like any 19yo boy he is kind of an idiot- don't get me wrong. America has a great heart, he just needs to mature a little bit more! I think America is better for more bromance-y ships, no? Idk, tell me what you think :)
I never understood Prucan, others I can understand, but I don't ship. I was wondering if you could make a video on Active Hetalia UA-camrs? The fandom is so bipolar, right now it's pretty dead. Almost all my Hetalia subscriptions have died with in my short leaving and returning to the fandom. It low-key makes me nostalgic and sad as hellll.
PruCan has something to do with a place in Canada called New Prussia? I can't remember if it's real or not but yeah. And I definitely can't remember where I heard it from bc I was VERY confused on why the hell it was a ship
I always think of America as having weird not-going-to-go-anywhere or cute crushes on other characters because of all the culture adopting Americans do. *cough* (Ameripan) *cough*
PruCan...yeah...I don't know how I ended up shipping that but it just happened. As for who gets to be the seme character and the tier list, it's 90% aesthetics I think.
I honestly don't understand USUK. I've checked out some clips claiming to be USUK moments (in the anime) and they're just... brotherly interactions? I can't see the ship.
Honestly, PruCan is just one of those ships which both have little to no interaction with each other, but they prehaps would make an interesting dyanamic if they did meet in canon. We also have the whole blog thing so there's that. They're both lonely so if they did get together and become friends in canon, neither would have to worrry about the other getting distracted with someone else. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Prussia was one of those characters who never forgot about Canada. That's just why I ship this and there may be other points I missed on.
as someone who came from the countryhumans fandom (and is still in it) when i found out that people shipped US x UK i was very weirded out because in countryhumans UK is US’ dad 😭
Belarus x Thereapy is a decent ship.
I think therapy would be a good ship for about half of the cast
Yes
YES! I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE IN THE HETALIA FANDOM WHO SHIPS BELARUS X THERAPY
(I actually ship Belarus x America so this is a joke lol, but seriously Belarus needs therapy)
Russia x Therapist is my favorite ship
OMG XD
do you know how many AU's you can make of this-

@Judging Budgie me too
PruCan actually HAS had one interaction: the April Fools Prussia's Blog, where Canada gave Prussia maple syrup, and Prussia gave Canada an Awesomeness Award, which is a big deal considering Prussia's personality.
Yeah! I didn't know she forgot about this one.
“How did RusGer become a thing?!” Two words. Country. Humans.

Okay FINALLY someone made the point of how annoying it is that people ship things JUST for them to be gay,,,,
breadcells those people are ew :( I ship lots of gay ships, but I never do because they’re gay.
Physicality is definitely a part of it
There’s probably also the fact that Russia as a country just invokes that kind of image.
No it's because of his long... strong...magical... pipe of pleasure...
Yes there has been small squabbles, but overall the two nations have good blood between them (pun not intended)
For instance, when Paris was attacked, America lit up some of their most marvelous monuments in the French flag (including the White House). We also published a newspaper that was titled “We Are All French” much like France published a newspaper after 9/11 that said “We Are All American”
Personally, I see France as a parental figure to America. But the ship is low key adorable.
I would have not said anything better
Yup!! I like it too. There interactions in the show are rare but when happening pretty sweet. Its kinda sad it gets overshadowed so much by UsUk and FrUk to the point of people just thinking of it being a mean Joke... well to each their own 😅

Fun fact, PruCan emerged because of Prussias blog, where he met Canada and they had pancakes together.
Yep.
That's all.
I mean it's apretty big ass deal that he gave Canada of all people and "Awesomeness Award"
To summarize this video in a single sentence _"how did we get here"_
also when you brought up the top/bottom arguement in the video i literally screamed .,. people need to understand that versatility is an actual thing !!
The only reason PruCan kind of frustrates me, it's because PruIta IS a thing, I think you can imagine why. A ship with one single interaction gets more attention than a half-canon ship? It hurts, man, it really does.
錆び because we do GerIta
I only ever shipped prucan because amecan is incest. That doesn't really explain anyone else though.
Probably because everyone just focuses on GerIta. But yeah, even though I don't really ship PruIta, I find it sad that it gets ignored so often. (Prussia wanted a dang date with Italy and even mentions in one of his songs that he loves him)
Random: Personally I ship Prumano more because they not only had interaction but Hima even stated once that Prussia has the same feelings for Romano as he has for Italy. (and I think Prussia needs someone who isn't always nice and sweet but also gives him kind of a challenge without being cruel)
A love both 👈😎👈

“Belarus and Liechtenstein personalities are polar opposites” I thought that was the fun part about shipping? Honestly, my English is not good enough to explain myself correctly, but crashing personalities is what makes it interesting for me, shipping equals is not always boring, I definitely prefer it when the two are colliding tho, it gives you a lot more to play with. Learning to be softer for Belarus, learning to be more assertive for Liechtenstein, wanting to work and undertand eachother, a slowburn.
ok i dont ship it like...at all... but you just made it sound fucking awesome for a second😂
Kinda like how Germany and italy are shipped and there completely opposite
Definitely part of the appeal, you're absolutely right
For me, USUK was literally my introduction to Hetalia. (Sometimes i check fanworks before checking the main source as a way to see what most of the fandom enjoys about a series.)
Now I don’t really see the pair getting into a romantic relationship anymore and prefer stories of them having a more familial relationship as I find it interesting to see other people’s ideas about how their relationship developed after past conflict.
*every single russia ships, russia is out of character when smut happens*
I don’t really read smut but he fits the fluff aesthetic pretty well in my opinion!

“bela and liech are POLAR opposites.”
i think that’s why people ship them lol
Well, for Prucan prussia remembers Canada whereas everyone else forgets him and mentions loving maple syrup and pancakes in some of his character songs, and while that's not a direct interaction it's why that is.
I never understood RusPrus either. My theory is that people wanted something super edgy/dark to ship that had that long history together
I like to think that Belarus needs someone like America, who is mostly friendly to everyone, to give her attention. Also America needs someone (maybe like belarus but nicer) to keep him in check.
Japan :3
For PruCan, I think it got started because during a single panel in the comic, Canada shares pancakes with Prussia, and Prussia seems to actually know who Canada is, either implying that they are close, or that Prussia is just not as dense as the others and didn't forget Canada's existence.
A note on PruCan that tries to stay unbiased:
First, we know they have interacted at some point.
Trixxy yeah okay but I still hate PruCan
Trixxy,

I ship it because it's semi canon abd bc of the movie, sorry >.
AMEN.
I guess it has to do mainly with headcanons
Completely agree with you about UsUk. Like would you date your foster father? NO!
*GerIta is the only ship that is both semi-cannon and you can't hate about it*
SuFin as well
I mean maybe not the only ship but I can still agree on that
All of the ships included are ones I either don’t ship or feel uncomfortable with, but this still rubs me up the wrong way.
Isn't she just sharing ships she's confused about? Did she ever say that these are bad ships?
Emerald Apple In my defence the title was different when I commented, and if I’m honest, while she didn’t outwardly criticise the ships, it did seem like she thought they were less valid (or, indeed, understandable) because they don’t draw directly from canon or history.
@@Alexandra-xk3gu
But,, they are less understandable if they don't draw from canon or history.

This is the main reason why I can never even get into ships in the first place. There are so many possibilities but fans just waste them and never change anything. It's been years! Let's turn the list upside down.
oh my god i am just so happy that there is actually someone who still likes hetalia in 2020 :D
Of course. No matter how dead this fandom is, i will still come back.
Lego Denmark 🥺
Hetalia doesn't die as long as there's still a world.
This fandom will never die I swear
DEVIN POHL and it should stay dead. Tumblr was a hub for the toxicity in this fandom.
Kinda like Nedcan with the whole flowers thing or Kimchiburger with the Korean war and all that drama.
me: sitting on my bed, sipping tea and silently shipping Asakiku, while everyone else is debating why they ship something.
id k people are throwing hands over who to ship England with and were just vibin
me, who ships basically everything and can't not ship
I don’t ship AsaKiku but it’s I like this ship the most out of all the England ships discounting my OTP.
I heavily agree with your USUK opinions. (Only I didn’t go on the internet during the shipping wars)
America and Britain have a strong relationship, no denying that, but it’s a familial bond (very much so in America’s mind!).
My top hetalia ships that I don't understand:
-America x burger
-Italy x pasta
-Romano x tomato
-Austria x piano
-Iceland x fridge
-Sweden x IKEA
Norway×butter
China×panda
Gilbird×pierre
Russia×vodka
France×baguette
...
only the trolls ship those lmfao
I ship France and America mostly because they're choaitc energy together would drive England up the wall and honestly, i love that image.
Like imagine France cooking food while America lounges on the counter while England is grumbling on the phone to a very confused japan.
I'm not an AmeBel shipper (I like Ameliet better), but I think they prefer AmeBel to LietBel because America seems to be able to deal with Belarus' aggression better (and they may also like RusAme drama that will come with America liking Russia's sister). They might also like the blonde hair couple aesthetic
i agree
Not to start anything, but I feel like the only reason Prussia and Canada are shipped are because of the sole fact that Prussia likes pancakes too, and y'know that pancakes are Canada's thing
@@ratontheinternet5611 that's true, and I totally agree, It isn't that I don't ship them it's just that I don't ship a lot of people in hetalia, I do like the idea of the ships dynamic tho and I like the fan art 😊
Random people shipping GerRus: "Two strong countries, fought wars with each other, so there's a bit of competition between them, but they're better now and they both have their cute moments, so what's not to like?"
Me, a Polish person: *terrified like my greatest fears were coming true, wants to protect Feliks all of a sudden*
Ps: I love the characters, and I know that countries are not their bosses, but it's still quite uncomfortable for me to imagine them together.
Frus is basically out of frustration tbh, but still the dynamic is very cute and France has beenn us' ally for the longest time, and Google says that saying 'I'm ur ally for life' is more loving than saying 'I love you' 🏐
that’s why it’s called frus

Louis Ferdinand von Preussen and the Hohenzollerns.
Stalin and the GDR.

Biancake #ΦωΦ bel actually sees him as another older brother. I think, cause she lived with him for a short while
It’s America that would hate to be with her probs.

16:14
Maybe it became popular because of the very thought of "what if?"
What if they DID interact.
if they did interact, how would it go? how would a relation be if these two actually got to know each other etcetera etcetera.
Yeah that's my biggest issue with it, it's just icky when the parental figure dates the kid once their older
Lmao, I haven't watched Hetalia in years, but I just got a notification from this channel. Memories.
there's a reason as to why i ship ameripan so much, it's bc they're actual BROS. i find shipping america difficult for the same reason as you: he's just really young and childish. he's much better suited for platonic friendship relationships. i ship ameripan platonically and non-platonically.

Hungary/Belarus - Maid daughters pair (they both wear maid outfits)
Belgium/Ukraine - Katyusha daughters pair (they both wear headbands)
Hungary/Taiwan - Flower maiden pair (they both have flowers in their hair)
Taiwan/Seychelles - Island country daughters pair (both nations are islands)
Of course, some people looked for ships with historic backing behind them, but mostly people were just shipping whatever looked cute and created their own headcanons.
Yumin But... Y tho? Why be fixated on yuri? I don’t get it. It just seems so superficial.
Also if you search for Ivan-on-bottom smut (右ヴァーニャ), the most common seme is Al, but you’d also find:
A shocking amount of LietRus
EngRus
FraRus
An EstRus fic
A few ItaRus
A shocking amount of JapRus
And many more
There’s also the LatRus Omegaverse fic I mentioned.
I forgot) even had Feli watch stoically as he let everyone else have a go at Lud.
...Yes, *I’ve seen sh-t.*
Though honestly a bit disappointed by the fact that this fandom was probably as big as Touken Ranbu or Detective Conan or whatever else, but for some reason every single girl always bottoms in het with few exceptions (mostly a few scattered HunPru fics) while I’ve seen tons of femdom for straight girls for the above-mentioned fandoms in my Pixiv walks. Like I’m talking like pages and pages of ‘em. Or maybe it’s something particular to Touken Ranbu and Detective Conan, since a lot of the examples of this I found were from those fandoms.
Alright, separate comment just to explain some of the ships in the video that I personally enjoy:
Germano is honestly just born of my love for enemies to lovers.
*you should see the weird stuff in the countryhuman fandom...*

The only way RusPrus would work is if the roles were reversed.
Edit: Also, shipping them is like shipping America and Cuba.

Well it's okay to ship them in AU's where they aren't related like Pottertalia
Honestly, PruCan is just one of those ships which both have little to no interaction with each other, but they prehaps would make an interesting dyanamic if they did meet in canon. We also have the whole blog thing so there's that. They're both lonely so if they did get together and become friends in canon, neither would have to worrry about the other getting distracted with someone else.
