I picked this guitar up like 7 months ago and this video was the reason, this is the best guitar I’ve ever had and I will never get rid of it, seriously it’s the best strat I’ve played under a 1000$ I’ve played really expensive ones too and I still prefer this one
I see that I commented 2 years ago. lol. Just an update, I have one of these now and it's one of my main guitars for recording. I accidently stumbled on this video again, and just wanted to say thanks again for helping me make a decision. I got the pink HSS version, and it is the only guitar I have that hasn't been modded at all. The only change I made was the knobs, since the HSS has a coil split. The knobs were hard to pull to get the split. So I bought the dome knobs that the USA NJ Model comes with! Perfect solution. Rock on, dude.
Hi! I took this guitar home with me today. I got it on loan over the weekend from the music store. I've spent a few hours on it now and it is amazing! I mostly play on my Fender Select Strat, but I actually think i prefer the Schecter ! :O And it's half the price! At least! Brilliant guitar! Looks great, sounds great, plays great! :D
I want one of those HSS Atomic Green ones definitely, and replace the pickups with a Fishman Fluence Classic HSS Ser, as well as the tuners with Hipshot Open Gear locking tuners. This is gonna be the most modern classic thing I will ever own. So excited! And also good video, good playing as well!
Nice review. I have the green one. Had it about a month. I would agree with everything you said. Some people don't seem to like the pickups but I'm happy with mine. A good variety of tones. I tightened the screws for the springs to make the bridge less floating. It was getting too high after tuning the guitar a few times. Other than that I haven't touched anything. Worth the Money for sure.
NotYerBrother22 how do you like your guitar after about a year? I had to return mine cause the thin neck was digging into my index finger too much and was uncomfortable
I mainly play Schecter, with EMG. But I record clean tones with single coil guitars. I was going to buy a Strat, but I really think this is for me. Thank you for the review! Edit: every Schecter I've ever received was in great playable condition right out of the box! It's why I switched from Ibanez. Thanks again for the tones.
Super nice looking and sound guitars. I just bought one in atomic green. Fit n' finish were spot on. Not a fan of the floating bridge myself and the action was quite high at first as you pointed out. Still trying to get it dialed in myself. Small intonation adjustments and such. I will say the combination of a 14" fretboard radius and extra jumbo frets made the neck feel a bit larger than im used to in my average sized hands. Hopefully its something i get used to.? I dont think i put enough thought into the extra jumbo frets before purchasing (not a deal breaker though). Everything else was just as i had hoped. Ebony fretboard is super nice looking! Tone for days and PU's sound just like Nick Johnstons custom shop versions in my opinion. Kinda blew my mind there really! One of the best "S" types out there for the money i will say that! Would def recommend this guitar to players above novice. Just because its not your typical strat, so starting out you could have some trouble adjusting to the two point trem and flatter neck profile and extra jumbos. I personally think a 9.5"-12" radius with medium jumbos or jumbos would have been perfect. But then it may have been to close to a real strat so who knows?. Loving it otherwise. If your used to these kinds of necks or have large hands shouldn't be any problems. Hope this helps somebody! Rock on!
Brah, Squier Classic Vibes play better than Entry level fenders. From somebody that has both. And my Schecter PT purple burst is superior than mexi player fenders in terms of feel, neck quality, tuners, fret dressing etc
I'm planning on buying the SSS model, but have a doubt. When two single coils are active together, what is the wiring? Is is in series(wit Reverse Wiring Reverse Polarity) and does it cancel the single coil hum?
That pickguard plastic could have been attributing to the sticky knobs. I had my eye on this guitar but stayed away due to no in store models to try. It looks great though!
Hey man. Envious of your prosperity and hope to be able to afford all the coolest and latest gear like you do. All friends started out as strangers. Thanks for not letting me visit your house.
Great videos and playing!!! I bought the orange one maple fretboard...the neck is so nice and thin ...is your hand or back of thumb get sore....??? Just trying to isolate why mine is...not sure if it's the neck profile or my house painting job? Thanks 😀
I want to get this so much, tried it out at a guitar shop but I kept pulling the high e over the fret.. kinda agonizing over whether this is a dealbreaker.
Enjoyed your demo and ordered a lefty one ( Finally something for us Southpaws that’s not just black or white 🌈 Thank You Schecter 🙏🙌🏻😀 ) It’s a real beauty and have been waiting for something like this to drop 💯😍👌 When will you post your lowered action you think? Would love to know your thoughts and impression 👍 Enjoy it 🚀 Best, Mik 👋🤘🏻
@@David-lt7kl Hi David. Absolutely love it! True Bang for the buck in my opinion. The neck is crazy good and slim. Silky smoothe and super fast. Tones are really great and very clean and it tales pedal well too. My wife and daughters actually give me that one for my birthday last year. I got an extra treat 😉 For that reason alone I will never depart with it. But I was positively surpriced by the overall quality. I mainly play Gibson, Eastman and LP style plus tele axes. This is by far the best strat I have had even if it is no way near the most expensive one. Wood tone, feel, sound and colour is perfect for me. I think they have one Lefty for sale at Thomann where I asked for mine Initially. Some other buyer there made the weirdest review back then about it writing it not not slim neck etc. The whole review was non-sense to me? Most others praise it like me. But He could off course have rotten a rouge model. As I recall He wrote get a Gibson instead so I think he might be blisfully unaware of different guitar models as such. Or maybe h4was the competition haha. Only thing worth mentioning is there can be slight details missed in QC. My backplate was slighly of center making reatringing annoying. Backplate had to come of the re-String the High E. Schecter was super helpfull and shipped me a new custom cared plate. In the colour I preferred instead of Black and a tually the same colour as the custom Line at tripple the price. Free of charge. Class act. I guess if you pay the triple amount for Nick J’s premium Line everything is perfect. But then again I have had several expensive Gibsons where QC was more than questionable. Again, at this price point. Grab one and tell me I wrong. I am sure you will love it. If not sure there are buyers for itand you can just sell it. Or perhaps buy the one at Thomann. Free test period for 14 days incl shipping. Super service. Best, Mik 👋🤘
Tanx for the reply Mik , I appreciate all the info , it sounds pretty good to me ..I play a Nash Tele which in my opinion is a fantastic guitar and so well built but it does have some limitations ie not built for speed ..Like you my dear wife is contributing to this one for my 50th this year so I'm super stoked ..Cheer's again for the reply and happy playing !!
@@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear I'm planning on buying the SSS model, but have a doubt. When two single coils are active together, what is the wiring? Is is in series(wit Reverse Wiring Reverse Polarity) and does it cancel the single coil hum?
Hey man, great review! I noticed you also reviewed the Charvel DK24 HSS. Between the 2, which one do you like better and why? I'm considering the HSS Schecter NJ or the HSS DK24. What would you recommend? In terms of build quality, finish, tuning stability and tone? Thanks!
Charvel wins this battle in every way you can think of. Better build quality, better hardware, more comfortable neck and body. Even had a better weight. The Schecter was actually pretty heavy.
I've yet to try one of those super shredders. They look pretty cool though. You can't really go wrong with a Schecter though... I've yet to play a bad one!
@@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear thanks man! Maybe I'll eventually get both! I love my schecter hellraiser so maybe I'll get the nick Johnston first. Great playing btw!
Wich exactly reference of string tree you recommend to consider in case of buying that guitar? do you think i could also use a roller string tree instead ? Thanks for sharing your experience.
So what is the one year verdict brother? How you liking this NJ Schecter and how often do you play it today over your other guitars? I've got a Fender pro series Strat right now but I've had my eye on this Schecter for a little while. I love the 2 knob look (cleaner, less clutter). Also, how smooth is that volume roll on/off in terms of sound? Is there a clean gradual crescendo as you roll it out slowly, or is it quiet, quiet, quiet, and all the sudden loud (indicative of cheap pots..etc..)
Agreed. I have swapped out the pickups for a set of Gen 4 Fender Noiseless. It's a little bit darker tone wise, but I'd rather that, than the 60 cycle hum with the original pups. There's usually a compromise when swapping to noiseless. I don't mind it though.
such impressive guitar, the looks reminds me of suhr guitars

only found out today that Schecter have graced us lefties with a Nick Johnston model. ordered instantly!
IrishWolf yep schecter really deliver for us lefties. Now if only I could get that reaper series in crimson blue.
Very nice review. Planning to buy one.
Thanks for paying attention to the minor things.
You absolutely spanked that guitar! 🤘🏾
I was gonna buy another fender this year. Now I'm looking at the new HSS model. Does more than a vintera series for less money.
It's hard not to notice how guys like Nick Johnston and Mayer are getting their signature (Strat) models from companies not named Fender.
Thanks again Chris, another insightful demo. Can't afford a Suhr or a USA strat in HSS but keen on the Schecter NJ in HSS config...
Wow superb guitar here!!!
thanks for the demo

Yes. A roller string tree is vastly superior to the bent steel.

I owned this for about 2 months tops. Traded it out. Never really gelled with it. Also, the pots were not great for roll off.
Great playing bud! Single coils are so noisy.
Didn't you know that model is self tuning?
How comfortable are the necks for doing chording?
Perfectly comfortable!
It's a copy of a Fender Stratocaster

Is it heavy? I heard it's quite heavy for a ST type guitar.
Not heavy at all. My Fender strat was much heavier.
The few people who picked up mine mentioned the weight actually but nothing really crazy. Sweet water weighs guitars and they have 7lbs 10oz
whats the weight on these guitars?
I never weighed mine, but they are on the heavy side.
Is this the affordable version?
Yes, it is.
This is a girlfriend guitar 🎸 for men and we can make great music with her! 😁
