in my honest opinion, a guitar for over a 1000 bucks (here in germany) with the lowest grade proprietary china pickups that schecter offers is just not cool. at least, some quality USA pasadena pickups would have been a much better fit for the guitar's otherwise good hardware and would have significantly improved the price-performance ratio of the MV-6 series. i recommend to spend even less money on a schecter sun valley with emg retro pickups instead, much better bang for your buck
Captain, I feel your pain on the wah pedal front. Much the same happens to me. Two suggestions: First, do what I don't and practice making your wah guitaring sound the way you want it to. Second, locate a good-sounding spot along the treadle's travel and just leave it there for awhile -- also known as the cocked wah trick. As I'm sure you know, there are pedals sold intended to achieve this very same effect WITHOUT the treadle. Keep in mind that there can be many good-sounding spots, so try to find a few favorites.
Pete can’t deny it😂 the neck maybe thinner than he likes, but make it the sounds (tones) he likes and he’ll play some different magic. Never heard Pete play like that. Almost went neoclassical shred for a minute. 😂
I'm not a pointy headstock guy so I haven't really looked at the Schecter range. Price wise in Australia they barely dip their toe into the Player Series price range, and go up rapidly from there.
That blue one is nice! Reminds me of Billy-Joe Armstrong's Strat from the Dookie era Green Day with his blue Strat with a slanted humbucker in the bridge!
Well...these seem to be really nice guitars. Looks very comfortable to play, with a thin neck and 24 frets but with no pickup right in the middle to get in the way. I think the purple one looks absolutely great. I would actually be interested in putting some Schecter USA pickups in one though, assuming they are easily replaceable (they do look like normal sized single coils in a removable pickguard). I'd love to try Schecter's 'Dark Side' pickups, all the demos I've watched sound fantastic but Schecter doesn't use these in any guitars except their USA custom shop models which are very expensive! Here's a demo of the Dark Side single coils in one of those £5k custom shop guitars: ua-cam.com/video/CpQNSvWOAAc/v-deo.html (2:45 onwards is my ideal single coil drive sound!) Of course like Pete & Lee bring up, we don't know whether the middle pickup is reverse wound, and whether all the pickups are identical in output or whether each is optimised for its position. The Schecter USA pickups do seem to require custom ordering in the UK (I watched a PMT video of a tour of their pickup making workshop in their factory and PMT said they can order the pickups if you call up) so I'm sure it would be possible to get a set that would be optimised for the MV-6 setup. It would be interesting to know how companies like Schecter actually get their own-branded import pickups produced. Whether they can say to the Far East factories we would like pickups of this exact spec and/or tonality. Or whether they pick from a menu of existing pickup designs that the factories have available. And I suppose it could be the same factory making the guitar itself that also makes the pickup, or it could be a different factory depending on price, quality & range of options. I have heard that some of their own-branded import humbuckers (like on my own Reaper-6) are actually based on their USA pickup designs but no idea if that's correct. Only real downside with the MV-6 I can see is that it's on the pricey side. Schecter have some other Indonesian models in the same price range that have the USA pickups and stainless steel frets whereas the MV-6 has neither. If anyone has played an MV-6, would you be able to let me know if the tremolo is set up to float i.e. can bend notes upwards somewhat? In a previous Andertons video when they were looking at the Van Nuys models one of them could bend up but the other couldn't, I suppose a guitar tech can sort that out though.
I purchased an Aria Pro II Thinline T-style because of cost and weight. The pickups are Alnico5's and it feels great to play. The neck is slim and the neck pickup sounds like a humbucker... No noise. I paid $259.oo during covid and it's my number one over my MIA strat and LP Standard. I get more tones out of this Aria, blissfully satisfied.
@@tobsixi6702 This pickup configuration goes back to the Robbie Robertson "Last Waltz" guitar. I'm not sure if anyone was building anything like this earlier than that.
Took delivery of mine yesterday (the purple one obviously). My first Schecter guitar. Won't be my last. It sounds and plays great. Not been able to put it down since I got it.
Just pulled the trigger on the purple metallic MV-6 (through Andertons of course). Because of the music I like, I've been between Fender Strat's and heavier rigs from Ibanez etc for years. Never considered a Schecter before. I don't feel as if I've found the MV-6, it almost feels as if it's found me! Pete's approval icing on the cake.
You guys should really check out more of Schecter's non-metal guitars. They have a lot of really interesting and cool stuff that doesn't get much attention compared to their metal stuff. I love their metal stuff, but Their other stuff is great too and deserves more attention imo.
mega agree, with the caveat that they should really compare them to other offers in the market targeted at the same audiences. Ya know, their S-type and T-type stuff vs Fender's Strat, or Telecaster as well as other T and S types from other brands.
I would love to check these out sometime- unfortunately, I only seem to ever be able to find their “metal” offerings in local stores, never these “classic” designs.
Schecter's are ace. I have a Solo-ii custom (Les Paul style), has a perfect sized satin neck, coil-split, locking tuners, and sounds amazing and great build quality. One of the best single-cut guitars I have played, certainly in that price range. Really under-rated brand IMO
I love the purple one, but I wish it was a hardtail. I recently got the Nick Johnston PT, and it is amazing. It was flawless out of the box, until I dinged the neck.
I love Schecter guitars, I have two. The "ultra-thin C" is my favourite neck carve. I feel between Ibanez, LTD, PRS SE, and many others coming from the same or similar factories the Schecters really are something very special. And the pickups are always great, whether USA or Far-East.
@@shanewalton8888 No point buying a Gretsch then, it'll be exactly like a Fender. Also, you're wrong. Hisatake Shibuya owns ESP and he also owns Schecter. ESP doesn't own Schecter.
This guitar seems to be the more 'modern' solution to anyone who has a Schecter Nick Johnston. I love the NJ model, but I've always said in my guitar reviews, on my UA-cam channel, that it would be amazing if the NJ didn't have the middle pickup, better upper access and 24 frets. Well I guess this is it essentially? Going to have to pick up one of these new Schecters.
I'd go with that black one just because I like the full maple neck A LOT, guitars with full maple necks just screams louder when doing artificial harmonics.
As Mark Knopfler would attest, Schecter has always been a great platform for creating a decent instrument. This guy could pretty much pick any guitar he wanted. Of course, he loved his Fenders, Gibsons, Steinbergers and Pensa-Suhrs. But he also used several customised Schecters particularly during the golden years of Dire Straits. Good enough for Knopfler. Good enough for the rest of us.
The Nick Johnston Diamond Series was INCREDIBLE and not only "for the price." Schecter did a remarkable job making a guitar that both a faithful S-type and unique in its own right. From everything I'm hearing, they've done it again with the MV-6 series. Would love to get my hands on one. The black one has a cool Gilmour vibe. :)
Omg! I saw the purple one and after i heard Pete play it.... well i ordered one! 😂 Now if i could be able to play it! Lmao! Love your videos! Keep up the great work!
That's awfully close to the pickup layout Robbie Robertson had on the '54 Strat he played at The Last Waltz. His neck pickup wasn't at an angle, but it's the same otherwise.
Lee likes to "play volleyball in a homoeritic way" - what a laugh I had! 🙂Apart from that, these Schecter guitars seem to offer great value for money. Greetings from Germany Mic
Schecter is definitely making a better strat style guitar than Fender right now,i’ve owned many fender strats in my lifetime i currently own a schecter NJ HSS and it blows away any fender i’ve ever had! better features and specs for the price and more pickup configuration options and more left handed version than Fender offers
They have angled pickups like my Fender Jag-Stang, although I think the sound is worse on the Schecter. The short scale also makes the sound change. I have the Nick Joshton in pink and it is a great guitar, the materials used are very good but it is the Schecter sound, not the Fender one. Great channel. 0:59
Those really are very similar to a Squier contemporary strat, aren't they? Not sure about basswood, don't like the fret markers, the flat radius or jumbo frets, so not for me, but the sonic blue looks nice and the tones sounded good.
I love slanted humbuckers. Both buckers are slanted on my Washburn SS-40. Schecter Pasadena’s. Sounds awesome. Got it for $90 at a thrift store needing lots of work.
I love what Schecter is doing in their sort of Classic guitars. They always offer a lot of bang for the buck and they get more creative than other makers.
Love the funk tones on those. Having the middle pickup back towards the bridge gives it a tighter telecaster kind of sound. Its a cool thing. So do you guys just run every demo with every guitar with the tone all the way up? Or are you tweaking it before the video ? Just curious
Wenge wood is endangered apparently due to overexploitation 😢
Check out I M Beket play the schecter mv6 in a video titled MIVIMEX
When are they going to put single coils from the neck to the bridge with 2 five way switches....
Why Shectee puts extra jumbo frets on all of their guitars 😢 it feel like speed bumps under fingers
Looks like a Fender Lead model but with a more diverse set of switching options
Pete this isn’t a Strat it’s a variant of their super strat, Sun Valley Super Shredder, Schecter already has 22 fret Strat copies.
