I'm a civilian security officer and cant say I've seen ghosts and shit, but I work one site every so often, that just gives me the creeps. A little description, this is a very large plant that makes explosives for the military. Explosives means no large buildings, just tons of small ones, in case of an explosion, it would only take one of the buildings, and the other 50 would be fine. This place was a few square miles and I had to walk and drive all over it, thankfully I dont work there much. This place has stood for around 50 years, and they say nothing really bad has ever happened. BS. Oh, I forgot, for all of its size, there were two of us per shift, 3 on holidays. 1 works the front guard shack, and 1 to work patrols, the holiday guy has his own section to do foot patrols on. So aside from a radio to the front gate, the patrol officers weren't able to communicate, we were for all intents and purposes, alone. And patrol only worked at night, and when there weren't employees. So imagine it, you are one SOB in a place bigger than some towns, and you're all alone, and your only person to talk to is over a mile away via 2 way radio. Oh, and you cant have the car radio too loud just in case the front gate radios you. On occasion, shit would get beyond weird. It started off pretty normal, just doing my rounds, drive up to a building, check its doors and walk around it, protocol was to leave the car running and driver door open(some moron kept locking himself out) and I would come around the corner and there is a legit Beagle standing in my head light beam which is almost pointed at me. Now remember, we are in God forsaken no where, sealed plant, and here is a healthy beagle with tags and everything just staring at me. Then it turns, runs off, and vanishes in the shadows. Then I'd be walking around an area we called the square, its 16 buildings in a square grid, you figure it out. Well I'm just finishing up one building and when I turn, theres a God damned deer. A full blown 8 point buck standing less than 6 feet from me. I'm pointing my light right at it, and its eyes were a deep red, and they just fucking stared at me. I remember being stuck looking at this deer for a solid minute before something else got its attention and it ran off. I remember feeling pissed that we weren't allowed to carry guns because of the explosion hazard, was dying for dear steak and deer season wasnt for another 6 months. From that point on, I'd be driving Round and every once and a while, I'd see two red dots in the tree line every time my lights faced the trees. I never really felt I was in danger, but I was always aware that someone was watching. Before long, I'd start to see truck randomly drive by. Understand, whenever a semi came on sight, didnt matter who it was for and where it was going, a notification would come over the radio, trucks weren't allowed to drive around unescorted. During business hours, employees from shipping would do it, during off hours, we had a special spot to park them. Trucks never came in during off hours unless it was right before the day started, in that case the front gate would show them where to park and tell them to catch up on sleep. I remember one day, it was July fourth, I remember being pissed they had switched me to day shift for the holiday because I'm used to working nights but hey, what can ya do. And I pull up to an intersection, and out of no where, this 18 wheeler comes screaming through at like 50 mph, we had a plant wide speed limit of 25, and intentionally curved roads to keep you from getting above that. I flip the emergency lights and scream off after this rig that is headed for a production area, just as it takes a corner, I radio the gate to ask about the truck, when I hear a massive crash. Sounds like a bomb went off. So much so that the other patrol officer calls me on my cell(like I said, our radios didnt work together) when I rounded the corner just a second later, nothing. Just nothing. Everything is exactly where it was supposed to be, I drive around this area for nearly an hour and find nothing. I even go to check the cameras, and the intersection conveniently was under maintenance, all I see is me further down the road going fast with the lights on. I talk to the guard on my phone and we agree that weird shit happens and decided to finish our day and not say a word to the rookie working the shack.
That story with the truck reminds me of sneaking into a state forest at night with friends as a teenager. The park is closed at sundown with gravel roads barred by gates. As we crossed a gravel path two gates deep a unmarked white ambulance looking thing sped by us just as we ducked into the woods. Years later I found a random long bone in the eaves of one of the shelters. Weirdest damn thing.
I love the way you tell these stories. My son is a Marine as was my late husband. Sometimes I would ask questions the response, at times was, "some things we just don't talk about".
I know the guy that wrote this. Served with him at the same time this story takes place. It's not the same voice, but you nailed the style in which he would have said these words. Props sir.
Love your narrations. A note coming from prior military. When you read out a weapon caliber, just read each number 5.56 = "Five, five, six" or you can also say "five, point, five, six." Granted I'm a retired army grunt and not a leatherneck but I'm pretty sure they say it the same way. Can't wait for the next installment. Tell those crayon eating jarheads to write more stories

@@alexweir1373 It's funny how accents go unnoticed when you're living around it 24/7. Most of the time I don't hear it when folks are speaking here, depending on how far south or east the people live. His accent in this one reminds me of some family friends who lived in the Bath Creek area.
That's true. What's weirder though is a lot of my friends sound nothing like their countryfried parents. At most we say ya'll more often and maybe go softer on consonants and longer on vowels than folks from up north. But usually it's very slight. I think that TV/internet is homogenizing accents which is sad to be honest. Dark as hell at night time surrounded by woodland and critters. Pulled a marine out of a ball of concertina wire when he decided to go off road on his steel horse, 2 days before hurricane Hugo. The most boring part of my life tbh.

Man youre pretty good at that US twang country accent. Just about forgot who I was listening to for a second there :)
Yesss! This is my favorite series!
"I knew there was gonna be some weird shit behind me" BAHHAHA
I was in the bay for a couple months hated that place
Dark as hell at night time surrounded by woodland and critters. Pulled a marine out of a ball of concertina wire when he decided to go off road on his steel horse, 2 days before hurricane Hugo. The most boring part of my life tbh.

So...is this narrator the same Lancashire or Yorkshire chap fr Natures Temper doing this deep southern American accent?
If so hes damn bloody great! Every little nuance sounds spot on. Not that I'm from the deep south but I'm English from near the Scottish Borders but I've got a thing about accents, both English & American so I've listened so carefully to this one & boy! He's brilliant, well done laddo 😁
Great story got me spooked. I live so close to the base. I almost want to go just for shits and giggles; then again.... maybe I'll just keep my candy arse as my pop would call me, home. I'm a military brat all the same and I love the series.
Amazing stories every single one
Wow Skot you've really moved the bar with this one.
Bro ur up there with Jason Hill(chilling tales for dark nights) and ur southern accent is pretty on it espically for u being British.🤘
Yessssssss I love this series
As a native Kentuckian, I can confidently say that you actually put on a decent southern accent.
I love hearing these marines stories so much man, I hope they’re will be more shit I’ve seen as a marine.
Too much pre workout was snorted before the writing of this story
What?
@@Ninjapiratecowboy it's a stereotype for marines to take a lot of pre workout before exercises, like, too much
Oh, must be a new one.
