Well done, I have been a Salmon Fisherman for at least 60 years on N & L Rivers and this is the best I have ever seen, even the black flies. I was amazed by the Lee Wulff as a child in school. You have brought me back to those times. THANK YOU!!
The best, I mean absolute best fishing doc I've seen in the last decade! Unbelievable fishing with awesome amenities for a lot of r and r! Total package , thank you!
@@RG-vq4zf we were there 15-23 July. We are actually going again this summer on those dates and Big Land Lodge actually has two spots open if you can come join us.
@8:40 that section of the river is right behind my house and i spent 90% of my evenings last summer crossing the sandbar under the rt 13 bridge and working my way downstream. cool to see someone else back there 🫡
I live in BC, and the only access restrictions I have come across are First Nations lands, which I respect. There are probably small lakes that are private lands , but with so many great flat water options, who cares. The rivers in the Vancouver area can get pretty crowded during salmon runs ( what’s left of them), but you don’t have to drive far to find peace. My favourite river is less than two hours from home, and I rarely see other anglers.
I know how special it is to fish with a friend . I mean, if you got to take 22 years to do it, you guys did a good job. we took 10 years of my brother-in-law we would take turns my father-in-law when he was live every other year we go fishing down the Smith river in Montana and after he passed away in 2019 we have an opportunity to fish together for the first time and it was really special. I always like Mark. He has a way of explaining things as if was his fishing partner. Good call Colin.
Just watched this last night, and like someone else said it was one of the documentaries I’ve ever seen. Reminded me of back when I was a kid. Anyone remember the American Sportsman? I used to watch it every Saturday, Curt Gowdy was always fly-fishing somewhere. I always said I’m going to learn how to do that someday. Took me quite a few years but I finally learned how. Now I live in Mt. Home, Ar. Between the White and the Norfork. I had several chest surgeries 4 years ago so I haven’t fished any since then. After watching this I’m fixing to start back. Thanks for the shows you guys. Oh yeah after watching this one I watched you catching those monster Brook Trout, awesome!
I remember when when we used to toss flys to the kings of the river on the penobscot river in Maine man I miss that rush of when you realize that your hooked up and to watch those fish just tumbling trying to get off is so amazing great video love it and the brookies are amazing too
As a resident of Newfoundland I have fished the Pinware many times. First met Walter when I had my youngest son with me one year. He has so much knowledge of the river. I really enjoy fishing Pikes Flats and Tidal pool. Chute pool and the holding areas below the falls are wonderful as well.
I spend 1-2 weeks every season! The chute down to the Forks is world class atlantic salmon fishing!! I left two days before you guys got there .. Walter knows that river like the back of his hand.. absolute phenomenal person! Love the video.. got me excited for next year!
Finally had a chance to watch the entire program, and a great one it was. The crew at Big Land Lodge have quite the setup there. Fine job indeed by all involved in this show
Forgot to add that it is my experience that the tail section on the average salmon from the Pinware is much thicker than the fish on the island from the same length. Might be a reason why they are so strong. Great video gentlemen.
@@Flyfisher_D Thanks! In all fairness there was a lot of hours punched to get that many large salmon. It was highlights put together from multiple trips.
What a great video really enjoyed the parts when the fish were rising to the flies and jumping on the water love it thanks for sharing big like from me lads and keep safe and tight line's 🎣👌🤝
lovely documentary, gets me hyped for another season. What makes me curious is why the salmon is so much smaller in both Labrador and Iceland compared to the ones we have in Norway even when its the same species. U'd think they have the same feeding grounds?
Great fishing, although I am sorry you were windbound most of your stay... I wanted to ask about your knife that is occasionally displayed during the episode. Could you share its make and model? Thanks!
Sune, we posted on tying video this past week for a fly we used (dirty bomber) and will post other flies each Thursday for next few weeks. ua-cam.com/video/voB94MMoAyI/v-deo.html
Awesome professional true experience as I had many trips of the same success in Labrador Salmon/Trout Fishing. Once in a Lifetime Journey! Check it out!!!
It’s beautiful….. but don’t think it’s right nearly all decent fishing is controlled by private lodges. Only available for the wealthy. Not very democratic is it?
@@newflyfisher non resident anglers not allowed to fish without a guide. Not allowed to fish within 2km of an established lodge unless they using that lodge. Basically limits angling to Canadians with the wealth available to pay significant $’s daily.
Not true, Simon. The only thing giving the commercial lodges in Newfoundland and Labrador what amounts to private fishing is their remote locations. There is nothing that lodges can legally do to stop anybody else fishing in the area, right next to the visiting anglers.
It's way more complicated then "its only for the rich". Yeah some parts of Canada you can't fish without a guide. I believe where this was filmed you can, but either way hunting and fishing guide fee's support these people's families. Other then logging or commercial fishing they don't have many options. I rather know these remote unspoiled places exist that I might be lucky enough to visit once in my life vs it being another ruined battle fished river that needs stocking. If you look there's plenty of salmon pools in Canada you can fish without a guide. .
And probably not allowed to bring a tent or tiny camper. Same old Shitt ☹️ . Not allowed too fish " from here to here unless you are a PAYING GUEST of the Lodge.

Indeed it´s an epic fishing video.

Amazing job on the video, love to see those bomber takes. Been fortunate enough to fish the Pinware several times and it never disappoints.

I want that net. Where can I get one?
Great documentary, guys!
Paul, not sure where the net came from. Recommend you contact the lodge and ask, sure they will get back to you. Cheers
Fly fishermen move in slow motion better than any other type.
The last scene, small river where you got the surprise salmon. What river is this a tributary for?
Pinware "trout brook"
Why do they come loose so much?
Hand me an 9wt Spey rod and drop me off please

Has anyone asked ai to interpret these yet?
